Chapter 3 - Praise be Gojira

As it turns out Kiri grew up in a cult — It was not that bad as you make it sound! It was pretty festive, we only had to pray and slay the occasional goat — so, as one may expect, her knowledge of the outside world was limited.

So, of course she was absolutely thrilled to know the world around her, which more often than not turned into a headache for him.

"What do you mean you lost Kiri?" Deuce asked, raising an eyebrow, the only person who could keep up with their excited cryptid girl was their also excited puppy captain, so more often than not, Deuce let Ace take Kiri with him to see the new islands first.

"She was next to me! And in the next second she was absolutely gone! She teleported! I swear!" Ace defended himself and Deuce pinched the bridge of his nose.

For someone who couldn't see, Kiri well— she could feel things, it was hard to explain, but she usually didn't have trouble walking around on her own, but directions? She got lost in their own ship.

"I'm getting a leash" He said, while he sent everyone to look for their missing girl.

"Kinky" Ace muttered and Deuce actually kicked him in the chin.

.

They had been looking everywhere and there was no trace of Kiri and Ace was starting to freak out.

What if someone kidnapped her? Or if she was injured? Maybe she fell in a trap? This was all his fault, he was just getting Kiri an ice cream and she was gone!

"She must be cold, and scared, oh God, what if we don't find her?" He panicked and Deuce patted him on the back.

"Hey guys, I think we found her" Mihar and Skull said, and Ace lit up right away.

"Really?! Where is she?!" Their captain asked right away and the two shared a look.

"Well…"

.

Kiri was waiting for her ice cream like a good girl, when she got distracted.

Someone was talking about a game, a new fun game that apparently had a prize that looked taken straight from hell, so of course Kiri was interested.

She followed the voices and arrived at what she assumed was a tavern by the heavy smell of booze, food and pirates.

Lucky for her someone asked if she was lost, and Kiri said that not, she wasn't — she totally was, but details — but she was here for the game.

"The mechanical bull?" The girl said and Kiri had no idea what that was but it sounded festive.

.

"Are you sure she came here?" Deuce asked, raising an eyebrow when they entered the tavern, it was the classical stopping point for pirates like them, but for sweet, naive, cryptid Kiri? She liked pastries and didn't understand why people drank alcohol — They gave her once, and she immediately spit it and said that it was awful —

"Ah, Deuce" Ace called him, but he could barely hear anything, people were cheering and screaming loudly.

"What?" He asked, trying to look around but it was hard when everyone seemed to be gathered around a circle.

"We found her" Ace declared and he pointed in front of them, to where all people seemed to be gathered and Deuce looked up.

"Oh my God" He murmured when he saw their sweet, cute, innocent cryptid riding a mechanical bull in front of a bunch of stinky pirates — yes, technically they were all pirates, but it was different okay?—

"You can do it Kiri!" Mihar cheered and Skull was also screaming and holy mother of God she was going to fall and break her spine! That thing moved like it was possessed!

Deuce may pass out.

.

"It's horrible" Deuce murmured watching the stuffed sea king that Kiri won after risking her life in that thing. The sea king was as tall as she was, and had mismatched eyes, with some terrible colors and it would hunt his nightmares for years to come.

"It's perfect!" Kiri refuted, hugging the thing closely. "It's strange, just like me!"

"You are not strange Kiri" He said, shaking his head.

"I grew up in a cult" She said once again, which didn't help his case. "I ate a fox's heart once, raw"

"You did what—

.

"We should name it" Suggested Skull while looking at Kiri's monstrosity of a stuffed toy.

"I mean Kiri almost died getting it, so" Mihar added and the rest nodded.

"I was perfectly fine!" Kiri argued while facing the wall, still in time out for running off on her own.

"What about… Gojira?" Suggested Ace after looking at the thing for a moment.

"You want to name it like a monster?!" Deuce asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Well"

"If the shoe fits"

They all looked at the stuffed monstrosity from hell.

Yeah.

Gojira it is.

.

Ace looked at the little trinkets around Gojira and raised an eyebrow.

"They are offerings" Kiri explained, leaving her favorite mango cake in front of the stuffed toy. "I told the others that I could feel energy coming from Gojira, and if they are good with it, the weather would keep going nice" She explained.

"Why did you do that?" He asked more amused than anything else.

"Deuce keeps saying that cults are bad, and that he doesn't understand how people can fall for them" Kiri said with vengeance in her tone. "I'm going to show him"

Ace for a moment considered his options.

"If Gojira it's going to be our new God, we need some candles" he nodded, and Kiri smiled brightly at him.

Deuce was going to kill them later, but it was totally worth it.
