"What's going on?" Janelle's expression turned cold. This Amber actually dared to touch her people.
Linda quickly explained the cause and effect she had heard, feeling extremely anxious. Without the others, how could the three of them complete this project? That old woman Amber was truly shameless.
"Call those four. Tell them to come back immediately." Her people – what right did Amber have to fire them?
Seeing she hadn't come up, Erik knew something must be wrong. He got out of the car.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing."
Even as she said it, an aura of menace radiated from Janelle. She looked utterly terrifying. He took her hand.
"Don't be angry. Whatever happened, it can be solved," Erik soothed her.
Janelle nodded.
"I know. Go back. I can handle it."
"Are you sure you don't need my help?" Honestly, this project was just a matter of a word from him. She didn't need to struggle so hard.
"Really not necessary," Janelle refused.
Erik sighed. "Alright, I'll head back then. If there's anything I can do, just tell me." He really wished the young lady would lean on him a bit. It was just a pity she was too independent and didn't need his help at all.
Meanwhile, Linda had already called the other four. They hadn't actually left; they were in a nearby cafe. Janelle took Linda and Kevin to the cafe.
Seeing Janelle, the four immediately poured out their grievances.
"Miss Rovella, they were the ones who said really awful things first! We only yelled back!"
"Yeah! We just didn't expect Mrs. Evans to be so completely unreasonable."
"Miss Rovella, what do we do now? We really want to follow you, but Mrs. Evans won't tolerate us. Even if we do this project perfectly, it probably won't matter."
"Alright, let's go. To the company. I'll get you justice." Janelle took a couple of sips of her coffee and stood up.
The others followed Janelle back to Blue Whale Co., Ltd., heading straight for Amber's office.
Amber's secretary, seeing this, rushed out to block them.
"Miss Rovella, Mrs. Evans is busy."
Janelle couldn't be bothered to engage. She kicked Amber's office door open with force.
The door was violently kicked open. Amber was about to lose her temper when she looked up and saw Janelle. Outside, many people were watching. Amber had to rein in her anger.
"Janelle, what is this? Whatever the case, we're family. Don't make such an ugly scene, especially here in the company."
"Was it you who drove my people away?"
"If they did something wrong, they must be punished," Amber said, glancing at the people behind Janelle. "Arguing openly in the company? Terminating them is the only way to set an example for others."
"Cut the crap. They are people I hired. You have no right to fire them. Now they're back. Apologize to them." Since they chose to follow her, she wouldn't let them be wronged.
Amber frowned. Apologize to a bunch of trash? How was that possible?
"I haven't done anything wrong. Why should I apologize? Janelle, stop making trouble. Even if this project fails, no one will blame you. You'll still be the Rovella heiress."
Janelle strode towards her and grabbed her throat.
"Janelle..." Choked, the feeling of suffocation hitting her, Amber panicked.
So many people stood outside, yet not one spoke up for her. Not one tried to intervene.
"Did you forget I told you not to provoke me? Huh? Are you that eager to die?"
"Miss Rovella!" Seeing this, Linda panicked. If this continued, Miss Rovella might come out worse; after all, she was alone.
Sure enough, Amber's secretary soon called security in.
"What are you standing there for? Go pull Miss Rovella off! Miss Rovella has gone mad!"
Wasn't it madness? Only someone mad would choke another person in front of so many people. Everyone knew Madalyn was crazy, so wasn't it normal for her daughter, Miss Rovella, to carry the mentally ill gene?
Security moved forward, but Janelle held them off with one hand.
"Anyone who tries to stop me, don't blame me for being harsh."
Amber's face turned purple. She couldn't take it anymore. She had to apologize.
"Sorry! I was wrong! I apologize, okay?" Isn't that what she wanted?
"The people you wronged aren't me. It's them. I want you to apologize to them." Amber's expression darkened. Where was Westin? His daughter was bullying her like this, and he still hadn't appeared!
"Janelle, I'm your father's woman. Even if you don't like me, shouldn't you show your father some respect?"
"Why so much nonsense?! I said apologize!" Janelle clenched her fist. Seeing her fist, Amber capitulated. She apologized to the group.
Having gotten the desired result, Janelle looked at everyone else.
"All of you, listen carefully. They are my people. At Blue Whale Co., Ltd., if anyone dares to bully them, Mrs. Evans's fate will be yours!" Janelle shoved Amber away. "Remember this, Mrs. Evans? You like firing people? Just wait. Soon, the one getting fired will be you."
With that, Janelle led her project team away.
Linda and the others were stunned. Miss Rovella walking ahead, an air of authority radiating from her – she was truly formidable.
Amber had been publicly humiliated. She smashed everything breakable in her office. Damn Janelle! How dare she treat her like this? She wanted her dead. At that moment, Amber truly resolved to kill her.
Lillie, learning of the incident, came from the Graham City Institute of Technology to be with her mother. Seeing the red marks on her neck, Lillie was heartbroken.
"Mom, what do we do? Janelle is really hard to deal with now." Even though they had taken Westin and Blue Whale Co., Ltd., as long as Janelle stayed here, they couldn't live peacefully.
"If ordinary people can't handle it, then we'll have to find professionals." Amber truly couldn't tolerate Janelle any longer. Wasn't living quietly on the border good enough? Did she have to come back seeking death? If so, Amber would grant her wish.
"How is Nelson? Are you in touch?" Mentioning Nelson made Lillie uncomfortable. Once, being with Nelson made her the envy of everyone. But now, after the incident where he wet himself came out, every time she saw the other heirs in Graham City, she felt they were laughing at her.
"Mom, Nelson refuses to leave the house." Mrs. Hill was furious, but since the video hadn't been retrieved, she hadn't done anything.
"Spend more time with him."
"I find it humiliating too!" Lillie naturally felt ashamed as well.
That evening, Erik came to pick up Janelle. Tonight's race was on the winding mountain road. Revisiting the place, they both unconsciously recalled the madness of that night.
