Chapter 11 - The Request, The Fight and The Confession

The guard who is responsible for guiding the slaves is seen sitting in a wooden chair and writing something. He is in a room exclusive to only guards. He is sitting there and writing something with a serious expression.

Some time later, he stops writing and puts the paper inside a cylinder-shaped tube, then seals it. He goes over to the caged pigeons—pigeons used for delivering letters. He takes one cage and then opens it to strap the small tube to the pigeon. The pigeon then flies off.

"I hope Master agrees to it. Well, he can't deny the offer to get a new pet, right?" the guard thought.

The guard closes the window after looking at the pigeon fly away. The moment the pigeon began to fly effectively, a mysterious figure jumped and caught it. He took out the letter and read it.

Master,

I have found the most perfect group of people. These people are of nobility and of commoner status; they are of the most diverse background. I am also sad to report that one slave has died, and we will not be able to complete the delivery for the most expensive and valuable order we have got. But I have found a variety of suitable candidates to be your pet. You may cut me, you may drown me—I'm ready to face the worst punishment, but I think that this group will please you like no one ever has.

The man read it before taking out a paper and writing something on it. He rolled the paper up and put it inside the tube before ordering the pigeon to return only after 4 hours, through unknown ways.

"It's showtime."

After a while, the pigeon returned, tapping on the window with its beak.

"Oh, you're earlier than I thought," the guard said.

He opened the window and opened the tube to read what his master had said. His face lit up; the master's answer was positive. He fell to his knees after taking a risk of possibly angering the master and putting his life on the line with the letter.

"Oh… oh thank God, I didn't get the worst punishment. I still have… have my job," he said.

He started reading the rest of the letter, and a box fell out.

"I only get 2 days?… Shit… Well, better than nothing, I guess. What the—why is there a box here?"

The guard opened the box to see 4 beads, which had invisible wings.

'Take these to them.' The note that came with the box read.

"What is this? Some kind of bug? Ahhh, nevermind."

He looked at the box before closing it and putting it in his back pocket.

He then went to the room where the second group was at and knocked. Genzo opened the peephole.

"You people are going to have a game. You have to find out who the killer of the man is in the next 2 days. If the killer is not found, everyone will be killed."

"..." No one said anything, as they knew that they were gonna get killed anyway.

"Whoever finds out the killer gets a chance to get out," the guard added.

"Yye...s...yes..." the beaten-up slaves said with enthusiasm.

The guard let out a sigh, already imagining what had happened here. He then opened the box and took out two bug-beads and gently threw them into the room. The beads started moving on their own, detecting the five men who were in the room. The bugs then went invisible, seemingly acting as eyes for the master.

The guard walked away and went to the room where the 1st group was situated. He then knocked on the door; the asleep men did not notice it. After a while of knocking, the guard became angry.

"HEYY, OPEN THE DOOR, DAMNIT," he yelled.

Hearing the guard yell, Kiya woke up, followed by the rest of them. Kiya walked towards the door and opened the peephole. Although they didn't trust each other, the fatigue got to them, and they fell asleep.

"Why the hell did it take you FOREVER to open the door, eh?"

"We were asleep."

"Ahhh, forget it. Everyone has a task to do."

"Hey, can you whisper?"

"Why?"

"It will be more interesting. Also, give some rope."

"What?" The guard stopped and thought about the game. If the game got more interesting, it meant that the probability of his death would also be reduced.

"Ok, fine," the guard said.

The guard then said the same thing he told the other group and gave the beads to Kiya. Even if he didn't, the beads would have filed and stuck to the walls. But giving them to Kiya made it more interesting.

The guard then left after giving him some rope.

Kiya hid the rope under his ragged clothes and turned around with a shocked face.

"The guard… said that we had to find who the killer is and feed them this bead."

"What?" Thomas asked.

"He entrusted me with finding out who the killer is."

Kiya looked at Cameron and pointed toward Hitleck.

"Cameron, I firmly believe that Hitleck is the killer."

"What? Do you even have any evidence… other than instinct?" Thomas said.

"Yes. Do you think a superhuman like him can't kill anyone? Yes, he can. And Unith was not an average fella—he was the strongest in the cell. Even I could see that, and I only came here 2 days ago."

"..."

"Do you think anyone could've killed Unith other than Hitleck?"

"...."

"No, exactly. A superhuman like him can kill anyone—even me and Cameron. But he wouldn't kill you. Why, I wonder? Maybe you are his partner in crime—or his only friend."

"No… I didn't kill him… neither did Hitleck."

"Now you're the one grabbing loose ends. Cameron, we got work to do."

"Yes," Cameron said, stretching his arms. Although with a little hesitation, what Kiya said struck him as truth. His head was not straight, filled with rage at Hitleck.

Hitleck and Thomas realized that the bead must be poison.

Cameron and Kiya walked toward Hitleck and Thomas, increasing the pace with every step. Kiya then took out the ropes.

"CAMERON, TIE HITLECK WITH THIS!" Kiya yelled before throwing the rope at Cameron.

Cameron caught the rope and dashed toward Hitleck. Kiya picked up the knife from the ground and also darted toward Hit.

"HEY, WHAT THE—"

Hitleck tried to defend himself but was caught off guard by Kiya, who pressed against his already wounded hand with the knife, making Hitleck fall to the ground. Hitleck screamed in agony.

Cameron then quickly tied Hitleck's legs and then a chair together. Cameron then fended Thomas off as he held the chair still.

Kiya then pressed the knife against Hitleck's hand and the floor and left it there. The knife had a hand guard, which made it difficult for Hitleck to free his hand, which was wounded. Kiya then pressed Hit's other hand, making him unable to do anything. At this point, Hitleck could've easily escaped if it wasn't for the cut on his hands weakening him.

Kiya then took the bead out. At this point, Thomas was already under trauma and unable to do anything. He fell to the ground.

"SAY IT, SAY THAT YOU ARE THE KILLER," Kiya said, screaming in Hitleck's face.

"I SAID I AM NOT."

"SAY IT."

"I HAVEN'T KILLED ANYONE. I. AM. NOT. THE. KILLER."

"OK THEN, I guess a DEAD MURDERER WILL SUFFICE."

Kiya slowly brought the bead closer to Hitleck's mouth, as he threatened him.

Thomas, watching everything unfold, was unable to move his body. He watched the cruelty unfold in front of his eyes. He slowly built courage and tried to move his mouth. Cameron looked at Thomas, who was struggling to put words together. Thomas finally spoke and said:

"I… I am… I AM THE KILLER."

The commotion stopped. Kiya stopped and took his hands off of Hitleck.

"Ahaha… HAHAHA!" Kiya started laughing maniacally as he witnessed everything he planned go according to his way.

The string tied the beads perfectly.
