Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Truly Want to Invite You to Eat

Just by looking at the pale-faced young man's eyes, Ye Mo knew he absolutely wouldn't let him off easily. Although Ye Mo feared no one, being plotted against for no reason made him very uncomfortable. If it were the old Ye Mo, he would have suffered a serious loss afterward.

That pale-faced youth was clearly not someone to mess with. If he could easily let Ye Mo go, then Ye Mo's more than a decade of cultivation experience would have been wasted.

Ye Mo glanced expressionlessly at the beautiful girl beside him, disliking her irresponsible behavior that didn't consider the consequences at all. He also disliked the pale youth's dead fish eyes. If this guy dared to cause trouble, Ye Mo wouldn't hesitate to make sure he never forgets it.

"Friend, not bad, even Ning University's Su Mei looks at you differently. Let's get acquainted, I'm Zheng Wenqiao. You look familiar, we might know each other," Zheng Wenqiao said coolly as he approached Ye Mo, his eyes flickering with contempt, cruelty, and a hint of pity as if he was already picturing Ye Mo begging on his knees.

"Get lost," Ye Mo completely ignored Zheng Wenqiao. With his fighting experience in the cultivation world, he could tell exactly what Zheng Wenqiao was thinking.

If pushed too far, killing this guy wouldn't be a problem. Although this was a society ruled by law and killing carries consequences, one's original nature isn't something easily changed. As a cultivator, even deep in the wild mountains, he wasn't a pushover.

"You… you've got guts!" Zheng Wenqiao was about to act but then turned away with a dark face.

Ye Mo understood Zheng Wenqiao must have seen his strong physique and feared losing, probably going to fetch reinforcements. He paid no mind.

"Ye Mo, do you know who he is?" Su Mei was surprised at Ye Mo's fierceness, daring to curse Ning University's number one heir. Zheng Wenqiao's father was the vice mayor of Ninghai, and his mother's family owned Qiu Corporation, one of China's top 100 companies. No one at Ning University didn't know him.

Such a wealthy heir being told to "get lost" by Ye Mo made Su Mei think he might be crazy, but she liked his attitude.

She soon admired Ye Mo for helping her get rid of a pesky "fly." Smiling brightly, she said, "Ye Mo, I've heard your name for a long time. I didn't expect you to dare curse Zheng Wenqiao. Thanks a lot! How about I treat you to a meal?"

In her mind, this was a huge favor. People lined up to invite her out, so Ye Mo should be thrilled, gratefully follow her, and constantly thank her.

But to her surprise, Ye Mo gave her a disgusted look, didn't respond, and turned to enter the library, as if she were invisible, leaving Su Mei stunned outside.

It took Su Mei quite a while to recover. Being treated so coldly, having her invitation ignored, made her feel as if she had swallowed a fly; her face turned red and pale in turns.

She thought, no matter what, she couldn't lose face. She didn't believe she couldn't get him to eat. With that, Su Mei also entered the library.

Although it was Saturday, Ning University's library was crowded and there were no vacant seats. Su Mei immediately saw Ye Mo standing by a medical book shelf, flipping through books.

She sneered, thinking he was just pretending to study medicine since he couldn't even find a seat.

But the moment she entered, several handsome guys scrambled to offer their seats. Sitting next to Su Mei, Ning University's number one beauty, was a great honor.

Others had no seats, but Su Mei could choose hers. She picked a seat that could see Ye Mo, smiling slightly as the guys who offered seats were dumbfounded. She picked up a book but was really watching Ye Mo, convinced he was faking and wouldn't last half an hour.

Unexpectedly, several hours passed and Ye Mo showed no signs of leaving or trying to find a seat.

He read very fast, about three to four medical books per hour, carefully reading every page. Su Mei thought the speed was too fast to comprehend, definitely just pretending.

Ye Mo immersed himself in medical texts. Ninghai University's medical school was quite reputable, with comprehensive books. Though some content was new, it all stayed within the usual framework.

Both traditional Chinese and Western medicine were similar. Yet Ye Mo memorized everything. With his powerful memory and the slight divine awareness from his Qi cultivation level one, reading was effortless.

Compared to his cultivation techniques, the medical knowledge was far behind. At the Foundation Establishment stage, he could finish all medical shelves in five hours; at the Golden Core stage, the entire library in three hours; at Nascent Soul stage, he could scan it all with divine awareness without entering the library.

But he was only at Foundation Establishment in this life.

Books were books, far from the knowledge in jade slips. Nascent Soul stage? In his past life, he was only a Foundation Establishment cultivator.

Su Mei grew more impatient. It was past three in the afternoon, and he still hadn't eaten lunch. She was starving, too, since she had to watch him.

She didn't understand why she had to make him agree to eat, and his refusal made her feel very upset.

When she couldn't take it any longer, Ye Mo finally put down his book and walked out of the library.

Su Mei immediately followed.

"Do you have something to say?" Ye Mo's voice was cold, clearly knowing she had been following him.

"Ah…" Su Mei was taken aback but quickly said, "Because you helped me this morning, I sincerely want to treat you to a meal. I don't want to owe you a favor, or I'll feel really, really…"
