Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: Upstream of the Creek

In fact, not even three minutes had passed when Wang Wu felt he could get free.

But these were precious, pure, delicious Cold Qi Profound Ice, and he was really reluctant, so he continued to pretend he was bound, savoring the taste and chill of the ice popsicle.

This time, even those Gray Mouse Knights noticed something was off.

And the White Rat was even more infuriated, gnashing its teeth and glaring, having no choice; it roughly guessed where the problem was. If only there were another White Rat companion, they could certainly finish off this shameless Bear Warrior, but alas, four of their five comrades were slain by the Scorpion King!

Now they've not only lost their lair, with severe casualties among their offspring, but could it be they can't even deal with a mere Bear Warrior?

"Squeak squeak!"

It squeaked again, glared at Wang Wu with hatred, then fled with twenty or thirty Gray Mouse Knights, leaving the green mountains behind to not worry about firewood, not worth fighting this unknown Bear Warrior at a whim, it's time to go!

This scene left Wang Wu stunned, but he quickly understood, the little demons living in this valley each had their survival methods.

Pride and defeat are nothing, being able to rise again is the real deal.

Two more minutes passed, and the Ice Armor on Wang Wu's body cracked into pieces of ice. After all, it was midsummer, even at night, the temperature was above twenty degrees Celsius, and even the Profound Ice couldn't withstand it.

Wang Wu gobbled up these Profound Ice fragments with gusto; they were good stuff!

Until he couldn't find even a tiny fragment of Profound Ice anymore.

Only then did he contentedly burp.

Indeed, so much Profound Ice provided him with a significant Satiety, not only fully supplying the consumption of his Level 4 Healing Talent but also leaving 109 Satiety points.

Besides, he also harvested a total of 28 Spiritual Qi from the Profound Ice.

And most importantly, his Ice Resistance continued to increase to (5/10).

Next, Wang Wu hesitated for a moment, then consumed 20 Spiritual Qi to increase his Level 3 Danger Perception to 4 points.

Since he'd decided to wander, this talent was crucial.

The previous attack by the White Rat was a clear example.

Without staying in place, Wang Wu followed the creek upstream, which was also the direction in which the White Rat had retreated with its offspring.

As native residents of the valley, they clearly knew where was suitable for wandering better than he did.

Moving along the creek for about fifty or sixty meters, they reached the once Berry Plain.

But it was buried under a large amount of silt, with many plants sticking out lonely from the mud; they might not die, but it'll be a long wait for berries.

Wang Wu thought this might be one of the reasons the rats couldn't survive here.

Passing the Berry Plain and moving another two hundred meters uphill, the terrain visibly rose, with noticeably less silt and more lush vegetation on both banks of the creek.

The insects and small animals in this area were noticeably more numerous.

Wang Wu saw more than once under the starlight, at the top of a bush, a Mantis Blade Master battling a swarm of mosquito swordsmen, and speaking of which, these Mantis Blade Masters really were abundant, their indomitable figures seen everywhere.

This area, Wang Wu hadn't visited before, seemed to correspond with a small mountain next to those five White Rats, where there was a giant Black Centipede.

That thing was also a tyrant of the valley, theoretically, it should have a lot of disciples and offspring in the area.

Wang Wu was cautious; he hadn't discovered where the White Rat had gone and didn't want to rush ahead without understanding the situation.

So he stopped in a clump of grass by the creek, remained silent for three seconds, then quickly entered Level 5 Concealment State.

This talent was also his trump card while wandering; as long as it wasn't a massive AOE range attack, he basically didn't have to worry about anything.

Soon, a night passed, the daylight broke, and it was time again to bask in the sunlight, absorb golden particles, and enjoy the benefits of Spiritual Qi.

The little demons in the bushes moved their families to the foothill.

Even many little demons that lived and reproduced on the other side of the creek crossed over to this side.

Wang Wu, lying in the grass, saw many little demons he'd never seen before, like a family of five frogs, or a group of Masters of Dung Balls. Well, he'd seen them before, but never in such numbers.

The sight of hundreds of dung beetles crawling in mighty waves was truly impressive.

But the most striking was yet to come, with an army of at least ten thousand black ants and a legion of over three hundred Wandering Mantis Blade Masters, all coming from across the creek in closely coordinated cooperation.

These pilgrim armies that came from afar maintained a very harmonious non-aggression pact with other little demons.

Wang Wu watched as a large cabbage worm fell from a leaf, and the army of black ants parted like encountering a boulder, not touching a hair.

The various berries they encountered, they didn't eat either.

Despite their small size, their movement speed was surprisingly fast, like a black wind sweeping over the ground, disappearing in an instant.

The very path that army of ants passed over was where Wang Wu was hiding.

Yet not a single ant passed by him or climbed over his body, his Level 5 Concealment seemed ineffective against ants.

Besides, the legions maintained an unimaginable restraint between themselves.

After the army of dung beetles came the ant army, followed by the Mantis Blade Master legion.

The first two weren't much, but Wang Wu had experienced how combative the Mantis Blade Masters could be.

Yet, this legion of Mantis Blade Masters, even after spotting Wang Wu, cautiously avoided him.

It was indeed surprising.

This reminded him of the previous raid by the Mantis army on the Black Snake Race and the Golden Saint Mantis.

Wang Wu carefully followed behind these three legions; he was really curious and found it peculiar.

However, he only stopped at the bushes and didn't boldly head straight to the foothill; after so many days, he had long understood the ecological rules of the valley.

The places to bask in the sun every day were limited, and it's almost impossible to find an empty spot.

Oh, there were empty spots, but those would have to be fought over with higher ranking little demons.

Now, as a Wandering Bear Warrior expelled from his ecological niche, he dared not rush up and snatch it as before.

At this moment, the first thing he observed was the Scorpion King on the cliff about three hundred meters away, whose body seemed larger, did it gain a lot from killing four White Rats yesterday?

In any case, that guy was becoming more terrifying, even from three hundred meters away, Wang Wu felt a twinge of anxiety.

"Wait, what is that?"

Wang Wu blinked, noticing for the first time that on the big rock where the Fiery Scorpion King stood, there seemed to be something extra, was it a flag?

He swore, before yesterday, there was no such thing.

He suddenly remembered yesterday morning, when the giant eagle had circled above the cliff for quite some time, could it relate to this?

Was the flag a sign of some Great Demon recruiting?

Wang Wu immediately thought of this, otherwise, it couldn't be explained, especially after the giant eagle left, the Scorpion King's act of challenging five White Rats was really puzzling.

Wang Wu watched quietly, instinctively entering Level 5 Concealment, no longer interested in sunbathing.

Is it a good thing for a Great Demon to be recruiting?

For little demons who know nothing, it's a chance to leap through the Dragon Gate, a chance to break free from the shackles of fate, but for Wang Wu, it might be the prelude to a looming battle between two Great Demon forces.

While pondering this, Wang Wu suddenly had a flash of insight, seeing a bunch of little demons emerging from the bushes dozens of meters away, led by that White Rat, along with dozens of Gray Mouse Knights.

But they didn't head towards the small mountain where the Black Centipede resided, but instead went straight to the cliff where the Scorpion King was located.

Right after, the Mantis Blade Master legion also abandoned their area on the small mountain, heading for that cliff.
