Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: More Than One

A new day quickly arrived.

This morning, Wang Zhifan woke up early in his rented apartment, quickly washed up and had a bit of breakfast before making his personal preparations and opening his player panel to start the dungeon.

Players like him who play dungeons every day are actually a minority in this world, as not everyone is willing to test their life every day.

Wang Zhifan is so actively involved in dungeons mainly because the positive feedback from his dungeon experiences is strong, every time before entering the dungeon he would speculate on what useful rewards he might be able to choose today, which means he basically starts to unconsciously ponder dungeon things as soon as he wakes up each day and doesn't want to do anything else.

With a moment of mental blur, Wang Zhifan, who was lying on the bed in the rented apartment, quickly disappeared, appearing along with two other teammates in a mountainous area.

At this moment, as he gazed around, he saw hills covered with weeds and bushes all around, and in front of him and his two teammates, there was a rather conspicuous dark cave on the mountain side.

[Dungeon Objective: Slay the black bear (Lv3) residing in the cave ahead.]

"Everyone, let's first report our levels and professions so we can determine how to cooperate. I'll start: I'm Lv3, profession Mage."

Among Wang Zhifan's teammates this time, it seems there's someone quite extroverted and talkative, who began discussing even before the dungeon target hints disappeared before their eyes.

"I suggest that we move back a little distance, discussing directly here might draw the monsters out."

Wang Zhifan didn't directly respond to his question but instead lowered his voice somewhat and suggested.

But this cautious approach didn't win that person's agreement, only to see him wave a hand and raise an eyebrow, speaking nonchalantly:

"Bro, it's just a Lv3 monster, no need to be so tense! Rest assured, as long as I'm here, I'll guarantee everyone can easily clear the dungeon."

This talkative Mage youth said as he raised the Magic Staff with red patterns on his hand to show his two teammates.

"Not to deceive, the staff in my hand is a fine layer treasure, it can greatly enhance the power of the Fireball Technique I currently possess, and my Fireball Technique is already at Lv3 level, which is not the same concept as those Lv1 and Lv2 Fireball Techniques. Don't mention Lv3 monsters, even Lv4, Lv5 ones are no problem!"

The Mage youth spoke with a very confident expression, indicating his strength is completely trustworthy, Wang Zhifan remained noncommittal, while the other teammate, a chubby girl holding a revolver, immediately showed an infatuated look towards the confident Mage youth and spoke in admiration:

"Then we'll rely on you for this dungeon, I'm just a Lv1 newbie Gunner, might not be of much help in the upcoming dungeon fight."

This slightly plump female Gunner showed humility, clearly seeing the Mage youth in front as her lifeline.

"It's just a small matter, you can just shoot a couple of rounds, or just stand aside and watch to gain some experience, it's fine."

The Mage youth casually responded to the female Gunner and then looked at Wang Zhifan, who had already moved back several meters.

Wang Zhifan knew he was asking him, so he stood there and replied:

"Warrior, Lv2."

Actually, anyone could tell that he was a Warrior type from the long saber in his hand, but this Mage teammate preferred this kind of oppressive atmosphere.

"Warrior? That's a profession I rarely see."

The Mage youth, upon hearing Wang Zhifan's reply, nodded somewhat casually before starting to issue orders like a leader.

"Warrior, you'll be responsible for luring the bear out of the cave later, the Gunner gal and I will guard the outside, once the bear comes out we'll kill it instantly."

His tone was equally confident, as if not allowing Wang Zhifan to refuse.

But Wang Zhifan didn't like being forced by others, he always acted according to his own pace.

"Sorry, this plan is too dangerous, I refuse to go in alone."

Wang Zhifan shook his head without much thought.

Seeing the long saber youth in front not giving him any face, the Mage youth showed some displeasure in his expression and immediately said to Wang Zhifan:

"How can you be so cowardly? You, a Warrior, don't dare to go into the cave alone? Are you even a man?"

His words were clearly meant to provoke Wang Zhifan's sense of pride, generally young people would respond to this, but what he didn't expect was that the long saber youth in front of him remained calm as water even with this kind of sarcasm.

"I've already told you, going in alone is too dangerous, I suggest not entering easily, it's a strategic issue, not about being a man or not. If you think you're capable, then you try going in alone."

At this moment Wang Zhifan calmly countered the Mage youth's mockery with his tone and expression.

"Damn, what's wrong with me going in alone? You're a Warrior who doesn't lure the monster and make a lot of excuses, cowardly is cowardly, no need to shamelessly deny it."

The Mage youth responded somewhat disdainfully to Wang Zhifan and then turned around and walked into the cave, he actually went in alone to start the fight.

"Impressive."

Wang Zhifan didn't despise this sort of decisiveness, instead in his heart he felt the other party was consistent in words and actions, it's just that his behavior might lack consideration.

Watching the dark cave, the Mage youth inside created a floating Fireball with his Magic Staff for illumination as he went in deeper, at this moment the chubby female Gunner hesitated somewhat, she didn't know which side to support right now, to stand outside waiting for the Mage youth inside to show his might, or to risk some danger to go in and help the other party.

Wang Zhifan saw this teammate's dilemma and said:

"I advise you not to go in, just stand here and wait."

The chubby female Gunner cast a somewhat puzzled look at him after hearing this, wondering why Wang Zhifan was so certain that the Mage youth entered the cave was a mistake.

"You might not understand what it means when a dungeon with Lv3 and Lv2 players only has Lv3 monsters."

Wang Zhifan explained calmly to her.

"Generally speaking, when this happens, there is usually not just one Lv3 monster, so are you aware of what going in carelessly will result in? He better ensure he can continuously kill multiple monsters quickly, otherwise, getting out might be a real problem."

Once Wang Zhifan finished speaking, the newbie Gunner player's eyes changed immediately, she might not understand why Wang Zhifan could deduce that there are multiple monsters in the cave just from these conditions, but she clearly knew that when an anticipated opponent turns from one to two or even more, the difficulty of confrontation increases exponentially.
