Chapter 31 - Chapter 31: Caught a Run Run Duck

"Stop the car."

Cola loosened the accelerator, glanced around, and after seeing the car come to a complete stop without hitting anything, he slowly let out a breath of relief.

Oh yeah!

From the farm to here smoothly!

The face with sunglasses suddenly showed ecstatic joy and pride. Cola shook his head, waiting for his owner's praise.

"Well done."

Cola's mouth widened in a big smile. He wanted to mimic Spark's pretense of modesty, but he couldn't hide the proud expression on his face.

Chen Yuan rubbed his chin, thinking to himself, "Seems like it'll be much easier from now on."

Compared to driving, he preferred to sit in the passenger seat and enjoy the scenery.

With two pets, Chen Yuan got out and headed towards Mingyu Lake with his fishing gear.

Along the way,

Cola was exceptionally excited, either darting into the forest or circling around Chen Yuan, barking non-stop.

"Chirp~"

Spark glanced disdainfully at Cola, his deep blue eyes remaining calm.

Whatever, let him be proud for a while.

He can't beat me anyway.

In the blink of an eye, Mingyu Lake was near at hand.

Compared to yesterday, there were more anglers around Mingyu Lake, roughly dozens of them.

Clearly, the news of Chen Yuan catching a Spirit Fish yesterday was still spreading.

Fortunately, Mingyu Lake's location is hidden and remote, or a swarm of anglers would have already disturbed this tranquil environment.

Seeing Chen Yuan approaching, these people got up to greet him.

"Chen, you're here to fish again?"

"Your grandpa was boasting about you this morning, saying that fish was big and delicious..."

Chen Yuan gave a helpless smile.

No wonder the old man was nowhere to be found early in the morning, turns out he went to the village to brag.

After a brief chat, Chen Yuan found a good spot and began to replicate Zhang Hao's fishing techniques.

Once he cast the rod, he sat down.

Next... now comes the test of patience.

Fishing involves both skill and luck, but most importantly, a transcendental mindset of solitary fishing.

Watching the fishing rod fall, Spark closed its eyes to rest. Cola, originally thinking of running into the forest to play, suddenly remembered missing out on a lot of things last time because of play and forcibly restrained its thoughts.

"Howl~"

It lay idly at Chen Yuan's feet, staring at the calm lake in a daze.

Ah, the water is so blue.

Are there many fish inside?

Why doesn't the owner just go underwater to catch fish?

Time is like the leisurely white clouds in the sky; when you gaze at them, they drift silently and, in the blink of an eye, have already floated away.

A moment of distraction, and it's already four in the afternoon.

Beside Chen Yuan, the water bucket contained only a few common small fish, with no Spirit Fish.

The other anglers were the same; none caught a Spirit Fish.

"Did all the luck get used up yesterday?" Chen Yuan pondered, resting his chin on his right hand in silent wonder.

...

Beneath Mingyu Lake,

The lake water was crystal clear, aquatic plants swayed, and cold water fish frolicked among the pebbles and plants.

Just then, a blue figure lunged out, startling the fish into a flurry of escape.

"Quack quack quack~"

Seeing the fish vanish instantly, Run Run Duck laughed triumphantly.

Next, a pair of light blue eyes twirled around, seemingly searching for something.

Suddenly,

It noticed a faint yellow slender figure in a rocky corner, and its eyes lit up. With a swift leap forward, it moved at an unmatched speed for its small size.

Waves rippled, flowing around its white body.

The Golden Crucian Carp, seeing Run Run Duck's aggressive approach, turned to flee.

But Run Run Duck was simply too fast, catching up with the Golden Crucian Carp in an instant, its yellow flat beak opening wide to chomp down!

The Golden Crucian Carp didn't even have time to react before it was swallowed by Run Run Duck.

"Quack~"

Run Run Duck couldn't help but let out a satisfied burp, its face showing an expression of enjoyment. It patted its slightly bulging belly and continued searching for hidden Spirit Fish.

This fish is indeed delicious, but there are too few of them, and if you're not careful, they'll escape, making them hard to catch.

Luckily, this time it encountered a dumb fish.

Run Run Duck mused absentmindedly and suddenly noticed something strange floating beneath the lake surface. It instinctively opened its mouth and took a bite.

...

"Last half hour, if no fish comes, we're heading home." Chen Yuan said, glancing at Cola, who was bored out of his mind.

"Howl~"

Cola drooped his ears, didn't lift his head, and lazily responded to his owner.

He's heard this sentence many times already.

But the result is that no fish was caught, and no one went home.

"Hmm, a big one?" Feeling the movement of the fishing rod, Chen Yuan suddenly looked up with delight.

This heavy pull is definitely not a small fry!

"Howl!" Cola immediately raised his eyes, which sparkled brightly, cheering for his owner.

"It's a bit heavy, but I can manage." Chen Yuan stood up, steadied his balance, tightened his arms, and gave a strong pull.

Cola wagged its tail, watching this moment, its face filled with tension.

Whether they can eat a Spirit Fish depends on this.

"Phew!"

After a moment of standoff and tugging, Chen Yuan took a deep breath, gathered all his strength, and yanked the fishing rod upward!

The next moment, a white figure leaped out from the water along with the flying fishing line and landed firmly on the lake shore.

Chen Yuan stood there, stunned.

He indeed caught a big one.

But why is it a duck!

This duck-like Extraordinary Creature was covered in white feathers, with a puffy hairstyle of light blue feathers on its head, and a yellow heart-shaped emblem on its chest.

This looked like a very flamboyant Extraordinary Creature.

After thinking for a long time, Chen Yuan finally remembered the name of this Extraordinary Creature - Run Run Duck, a Water-type Pet Beast.

"Instead of catching a Spirit Fish, I caught a Run Run Duck?" Chen Yuan thought, a mix of laughter and tears.

In the distance, seeing that Chen Yuan caught a duck instead of a Spirit Fish, the other anglers sighed in relief and sat back down.

"Quack quack quack!"

Run Run Duck yanked the hook from its mouth, glaring resentfully at the fishing rod in Chen Yuan's hand, its oval-shaped blue eyes filled with anger.

Chen Yuan silently dropped the fishing rod, spreading his hands, "How about you let me explain first?"

"Quack quack quack!"

Run Run Duck rejected Chen Yuan's explanation and spat a rapid water jet.

"Chirp!"

Spark abruptly opened its fierce eyes, sparks flickering in its mouth, ready to spit out a blazing flame at any moment.

However, Cola reacted even quicker, its eyes twinkling with excitement. Without hesitation, it stepped forward to protect Chen Yuan, simultaneously unleashing whistling Wind Blades!

Bang bang bang!

The Wind Blades and water jets collided with a bang midway, holding each other off for a moment, producing intense sounds, but eventually canceling each other out.

After a round of confrontation, it was a stalemate.

Chen Yuan first glanced at the still-angry Run Run Duck, then looked at the eager Cola, and had no choice but to say, "Cola, you go ahead."

"Howl howl howl!"

Seeing its request granted and about to face its first official battle, Cola was extremely excited, its eyes sparkling with light.

"Spark, stand by as backup."

Cola fell silent.
