Chapter 23 - Chapter 13: Abyssal Trial Ground

Sherry replied, "We've got our spices too. After deliberation, one will be auctioned by Baron Bapeng, and Miss Vivian is ready to use the auction to steal the show. One will be used to befriend the court mage, Fafnir, as making her acquaintance is also the baron's desire. The Frost Rose in the flower shop where I work was crafted by her. I've also met her, and learning from her is my desire as well. I'm using this opportunity to deliver a message to study in her mage tower library for a day and use her mage tower's enhanced effect to send you this message."

Big shots indeed! Chun felt things were going a bit too smoothly—no, this greedy fat guy has quite an appetite. Not only is he after my Vivian, but now he has his eyes on a female celebrity too. Damn this fat dude!

Chun was a bit displeased, "They only let you study for a day with such a big shot?"

Sherry was anxious, "Even one day is extremely valuable. Let's get started on teaching you to identify magic stones. There are six in total: wind, fire, water, earth, light, and darkness. Find the heaviest one first, that's the Earth Stone. Next, the lightest one, that's the Wind Stone. Have you found them?"

Chun immediately compared the weight of the stones, "Got them!"

He was also incredulous, "Did you learn the Space Array so quickly?"

"The blessing of wisdom in the mage tower makes me feel a bit smarter. Besides, the kind of Space Array you're talking about is basic in books, the difficulty lies in acquiring the magic stones."

Holy shit, if it's really that awesome, then studying for a day is actually incredible?

Chun was greatly encouraged, "Dear, keep teaching!"

"Next, find the one with the most black, that's darkness. Then among the three stones other than wind and earth, the one that sparks when struck is light..."

Chun tested each one in turn and successfully identified the six stones.

"Prepare to set up the array. You mustn't get the order and timing wrong!"

There's even a time requirement? This really isn't something players can figure out just by guessing.

Chun steadied one group first, "Wait until the elevator goes up and down once before setting the array. I'm afraid it might come down midway through the setup."

"Alright."

Chun also noticed one detail: once he teleports away, if the big shot behind him comes, they would notice the array exposed, clearly indicating someone has been here, right?

Chun immediately piled sand and stones around the array, making a "ring mountain" half a man's height. When the elevator comes down, it should flatten it, automatically burying the array.

At the same time, he didn't know where he would be teleported to, and if too far, unable to contact Sherry would be a problem, so he made sure of some safety measures first: "Dear, your exit from the city was quite a spectacle; some bad guys will surely notice you. Do you have any way to avoid them?"

"Indeed, when we left the city, two roadblocks were set up. I have a way to avoid the bad guys, just use a disguise."

Chun was stunned, "A disguise?"

"Yes, like Cinderella's story, a girl's appearance is different before and after makeup."

Hmm... indeed, with her looking like an average NPC, she is hard to recognize.

Chun then expressed his idea, "Then in the future when we're on a mission, you can dress up nicely. When we're off-duty, you can be like Cinderella, how about that?"

Sherry laughed, "So romantic with a fairy-tale vibe, interesting! Alright, let's first teach you the steps. You need to remember them clearly and review them later. First, place the Stone of Light on the first star position for a five-minute preheat, then place the Stone of Darkness on the fourth star position for another five-minute preheat..."

Chun diligently took notes...

Finally, the elevator descended, heavily flattening the "ring mountain" around the array.

Once the elevator left, Chun immediately went forward to check—sure enough, it automatically buried the array. Perfect!

Chun immediately excavated the array again to create another ring mountain, confirming the details were correct, "I'm ready!"

"Then let's start. First, place the Light Stone..."

Chun carefully and steadily handled the stones, installing all six magic stones in place. Sure enough, once you know the method, this array seems simple and really isn't that hard. At this moment, the light beneath the water flowed and twisted.

"Stand right in the center of the array! The magic stones will be teleported along with you. These stones are extremely valuable, losing some weight with each teleport, but they can be recharged. You have to remember to take them with you."

"Understood!"

The next moment, Chun felt the surrounding space warp and ripple in the light, then the scene changed, met with a searing red glow and the sound of mining ringing in his ears.

——System Prompt: Warning! You have entered the first layer of the Abyssal Trial Ground. You must make every effort to face the trial.

Chun was shocked. Isn't this the abyss magma scene from the opening animation? He hurriedly contacted Sherry, "Sherry, can you hear me?"

But there was only static silence; indeed, the connection was interrupted.

The teleportation light faded, revealing a large group of half-human small red demons with pointy ears mining in a fiery red underground pit! In the center of the pit was a small magma pool no larger than a well, with several tunnel entrances connected around the pit.

They suddenly looked up and saw Chun! Then collectively looked at the ground under Chun's feet—the magic stones that teleported with him!

Chun quickly picked them up, finding them indeed a bit lighter, yet the total weight was still over 100.

The next moment, the little demons waved their pickaxes and charged in a swarm!

Holy shit! Chun didn't think twice and sprinted toward one of the tunnel entrances at full speed.

But carrying more than 100 weight, the cost of full speed was a doubled depletion of physical strength, and Chun also realized a more serious issue: he was marked with a big red name, and if he died, he would lose significant gear and items, meaning the six stones wouldn't be secured! And he didn't know where he would resurrect. If it was in the city, this trip would be in vain.
