Chapter 24 - Chapter 23: Elemental Arrow

Anyway, there's no cost to taking on a profession, so Li Ang selected Mage from the profession panel.

The moment he took the job, he gained some knowledge about communicating with the Elemental Spirits in his mind. Most of it he already knew, but now he learned some prayer words.

Previously, he communicated and drove the Elemental Spirits using Magic Power and Casting Materials, but now there's an additional path of prayer.

Can Mages import the experience of a witch?

Following Li Ang's thought, a manipulable panel appeared from the system. He clicked on the import button, and instantly, he saw the Mage panel leap forward, directly elevating to Tier 4, and acquiring a whole bunch of skills.

He looked over at Zoe: "Come on, try following what I'm saying."

Li Ang guided her to sit on a flat stone, and explained the method to communicate with the Earth Spirit.

"Relax, take a deep breath, enter a meditative state where your consciousness is wandering, yet you can still think. No rush, feel it slowly..."

Before Li Ang even finished speaking, the young girl had already entered a meditative state right in front of him.

He couldn't believe it, wondering if perhaps she had fallen asleep; at that moment, she opened her eyes again, waiting for his next guidance.

"Great, then touch the ground, project your consciousness onto it, try to imagine yourself merging with the earth. When you can clearly 'see' in your mind some slow yet heavy figures, try speaking to them. Of course, they're not people, they're Earth Elemental Spirits, just slowly find your feel for them."

Zoe closed her eyes to search for the sensation, while Li Ang looked back at his own panel.

[Profession in practice: Mage]

[Tier: 4. Next Tier: 0/2000 experience]

[Acquired Tier 1 Mage Skills: Elemental Affinity, Elemental Arrow]

[Acquired Tier 2 Mage Skills: Elemental Shock]

[Acquired Tier 3 Mage Skills: Lightning Arrow, Healing Water Wave]

[Acquired Tier 4 Mage Skills: Elemental Shield, Elemental Summoning]

Li Ang digested the specifics of the skills for a while. He was quite pleased to finally learn conventional Magics.

Besides Elemental Magic, there were also Lightning and Healing Spells, both of which are manifestations of the Mage's ability to communicate with the Spirit of Nature.

Tiers 4-6 belong to the Transcendent Realm; in this tier, the Mage starts to drive the Power of Elements without relying on prayers because of years of cooperation, gaining a certain control.

In other terms, it's like old partners don't need to go through the pleasantries each time anymore.

This was a great thing for Li Ang; driving the Elemental Spirit was a habit, but praying felt awkward to him.

However, the Tier 4 Mage enhanced by the system had not yet learned the Professional Secret Technique.

The so-called Secret Technique refers to what can also be called as Big Move or Assasination Skill, in general, a way for a person to maximize their own Power.

Li Ang had seen people using Summoned Beasts, Energy Sources, and Treasure Artifacts to launch their Secret Techniques, which often required an extraordinary background.

His lack of understanding of the Mage Profession made it normal not to know the Professional Secret Technique, after all, he was only using it as a transitional phase.

Apart from the skills, he also felt a slight improvement in his Magic Power Reserves, though not much changed.

With a caster's understanding of Magic and their control of Magic Power improving, their energy would increase, and under the same energy level, the total amount of Atmospheric Magic they can mobilize would also increase, collectively determining Magic Power Reserves.

Li Ang's witch profession had already reached Level 9, with the next level being the Legendary Level 10, which is the upper limit set by the world's rules, so his Magic Power Reserves growth was nearly maxed out.

As a human without a special bloodline, his Magic Power Reserves were already considered above average. Without an inherent Energy Source within, most races are about the same as him.

It seemed there was no fortunate event of boosting Magic Power Reserves through the system twice; he still needed to acquire an Energy Source soon.

Then, Li Ang summoned a clump of Earth Element in his hand, just about to try out some magic when Zoe spoke to him from the side.

"I can feel them, they're greeting me."

"?"

Li Ang took a few seconds to resist the urge to question whether the young girl was joking with him.

The total time he had operated the profession panel was probably less than a minute, yet she could already sense them?

"Then ask them if they can lend you their power? Just think about it in your mind.

"When you feel the strength they're transmitting, channel your Magic Power to catch it, imagine shaping it into an arrow, like I do."

Li Ang gathered his Magic Power and launched an Elemental Arrow—Earth Element. In his palm, the surrounding dust rapidly condensed into a spindle-shaped rock arrow.

It was sharp and hard, and if there wasn't enough defensive strength, taking a hit was still quite painful.

Although Zoe was a swordsman, she had cultivated to Tier 2, and must have a certain level of control over Magic Power.

While Li Ang was still considering, he watched as Zoe raised her hand, pulling together an Earth Elemental Arrow in her grasp, twice the length of Li Ang's.

Her displayed magical talent was astounding.

Li Ang didn't think she was born knowing it; otherwise, even without being taught, she would have instinctively learned to use Earth Element Magic over time, examples of such appearing occasionally in the vast Aerial Realm.

This was the influence of the Star Soul, he could almost confirm it.

"Next, tell the Earth Elemental Spirits to use their strength to strike a target."

After saying this to the young girl, Li Ang first threw his own Earth Elemental Arrow.

The sharp rock shuttle collided with a giant rock ahead, embedding deeply into its surface, shattering into countless fragments, leaving a web of cracks on the rock.

"Hey!"

With enthusiasm, Zoe waved her hand, and her Earth Elemental Arrow followed suit, its force more than doubled, directly piercing through the rock and exploding, rock fragments flying everywhere, making it impossible to discern which ones were created by her magic and which by the natural origin.

After the scene calmed down, the location of the giant rock was only a pit scattered with rubble.

Although Li Ang had initiated a hit first, the explosive power of her magic was genuinely remarkable.

Li Ang glanced at her panel.

[Name: Zoe]

[Race: Unknown]

[Profession: Swordsman, Tier 2. Elemental Mage, Unconfirmed Path, Tier 1 (+)]

[Skills: Star Soul Greenhouse, Swordsman [Strong Physique, Morale Boost], Elemental Mage [Elemental Affinity, Elemental Arrow—Earth Element]]

She had not chosen a specific professional path yet, but since she learned Elemental Magic, there's already a display on the profession panel, and there's even a plus sign behind the profession, possibly indicating that she's more advanced than a typical Level 1.

It started to occur to Li Ang that Zoe might end up being more of a Mage while he played the Swordsman role.

Nevertheless, any reservations aside, today, he no longer doubted that Zoe could be the World's Female Lead.

First, the physique of the Star Soul Greenhouse and its adaptability had ties that enabled her to grow stronger.

Second, her occupational adaptability brought by the Star Soul Power, even the ability to learn Elemental Magic from it, made it even more apparent.

Soon after, Zoe started searching for Water Mist Stones as Li Ang started melting the ores.

She had to find stones with the Water Flow Array pattern so they would enhance the stability in battle the next day.

If they didn't have enough, they would have to depart early the next day.

Li Ang easily summoned a clump of earth to try out some magic, but just then Zoe started to talk to him.

"I felt it, they were greeting me."

"?"

Li Ang held back his doubt, wondering if the young girl was joking with him.

The time he had spent operating his practice panel probably didn't even total a minute, had she already sensed them?

"Then ask if they can lend you their power? Just think about it in your head.

"When you feel the power flowing in, channel your Magic Power to grab it, and imagine it forming into an arrow shape, like I'm doing now."

Utilizing his Magic Power, Li Ang conjured an Elemental Arrow of Earth Element, dust swirling around in his palm quick to crystallize into a dart-shaped rock arrow.

Sharp and solid, if you don't have enough defense, getting hit by one would still be quite painful.

Zoe, despite being a Swordsman, managed to cultivate herself to Tier 2, suggesting she held some control over her Magic Power.

As Li Ang was thinking this, he saw Zoe lift her hand, producing an Earth Elemental Arrow in her palm, twice the length of his.

The talent she exhibited in magic was almost monstrous.

Li Ang didn't think this was something she was born knowing; otherwise, even if she were not innately equipped with an Energy Source, she would have been able to use Earth Elemental Magic as second nature over time, which does happen sometimes in the Aerial Realm.

This was due to the influence of the Star Soul, which he was nearly certain of now.

"Then try to ask them for some power; think it in your mind.

"When you feel the energy they're sending, draw upon your Magic Power to grab it, imagining it forming into the shape of an arrow, just like I'm doing."

Li Ang channeled his Magic Power and cast Elemental Arrow—Earth Element. In his palm, the surrounding dust rapidly coalesced into a spindle-shaped rocky arrow.

It was sharp and hard, enough to cause considerable pain despite not having sufficient defense.

Zoe, even though she was a Swordsman, having cultivated to Tier 2, she should have some level of control over Magic Power.

Just as Li Ang was pondering this, he saw Zoe lift her hand, manifesting an Earth Elemental Arrow in her palm, twice as large as his.

The Elemental Magic talent she displayed could be called extraordinary.

Li Ang didn't think she was born with it, or else she could have instinctively used Earth Elemental Magic long ago.

It was clearly the influence of the Star Soul that practically confirmed it.

"Now, measure her body size, and let's get started on this task."
