Chapter 18 - Chapter 18: An Assassin!

"What... what are you doing?"

Qiu Qianyu, a mix of shame and anger, was still scolding.

However, before she could finish her sentence, there was a loud "bang," and the villa's window shattered instantly.

Right where Jiang Chuan and Qiu Qianyu had been standing, the marble floor was blasted into pieces, debris scattering everywhere.

Some of the debris directly hit Qiu Qianyu's delicate cheek, causing her to feel a burning pain immediately.

Qiu Qianyu's breathing halted instantly, stunned for a moment, the sudden change leaving her at a loss.

But Jiang Chuan tightened his grip around her slender waist again, and with a swift roll, Qiu Qianyu fell directly into Jiang Chuan's arms.

Simultaneously!

"Bang"

There was another loud noise.

The glass coffee table beside them shattered on cue, glass shards spraying like flying bullets, scattering everywhere.

"Ah!"

Qiu Qianyu finally snapped back to reality, her face showing terror, letting out a shrill scream.

She suddenly wrapped her arms around Jiang Chuan's neck, plunging into his arms. Due to fear, her delicate body trembled uncontrollably.

There's an assassin! An assassin!

This scene, something one would only see in TV dramas, was unfolding right in front of her. Qiu Qianyu was utterly terrified, burying her face in Jiang Chuan's embrace, too scared to even lift her head.

Instantly, a soft fragrance wafted over, the scent of high-end perfume mingling with a girl's breath, pleasing and enchanting. Jiang Chuan took a deep breath, feeling a refreshing sense of pleasure.

Of course, this was no time to enjoy the beauty in his arms.

This Jiang Chuan understood naturally!

He squinted his eyes, looking directly through the window at the high building opposite, murmuring to himself: "French F2F1 small caliber sniper rifle, maximum range of 1,500 meters. Judging by the range and shooting angle, this one's a veteran!"

Jiang Chuan accurately identified the model of the sniper rifle used by the sniper.

Just then, the gunfire rang out again.

Bang!

The bullet slanted through the glass wine cabinet, in an instant shattering the cabinet door and a few bottles of vintage wine inside.

Cowering in Jiang Chuan's arms, Qiu Qianyu screamed again, tightening her grip around Jiang Chuan's waist, burying her head fully into his chest, trembling in fear.

Meanwhile, Jiang Chuan, as if nothing had happened, held Qiu Qianyu in his arms while looking through the window with interest at the opposite building.

The spot Jiang Chuan chose was clever, allowing him to observe the condition of the opposite building and avoid the opponent's shooting angle.

But after waiting for quite a while, no more gunshots were heard.

Jiang Chuan reached out, patted Qiu Qianyu, and said lightly: "Alright, he's gone."

"How... how do you know?"

Qiu Qianyu, trembling and panicking, her tone altered entirely by fear.

Jiang Chuan, holding Qiu Qianyu with one hand, lit a cigarette with the other, exhaling several smoke rings calmly:

"As a qualified sniper, whether they hit the target or not, they can only fire two shots before having to retreat!"

"And he's already fired three shots. If he doesn't leave now, his life will be left here. So, you can get up."

Jiang Chuan's understanding of snipers was as thorough as his understanding of himself.

Of course, Jiang Chuan was referring to regular snipers—there are exceptions.

Like himself—if he really didn't hit in one shot, he'd entirely possibly carry the sniper rifle right into the target defense perimeter, marking each target one by one.

Because he, most loves to use a sniper rifle as a handgun, appreciating the visual impact brought by the powerful force of the bullet.
