Wutai Mountain is named after its five earthen platforms: East, West, South, North, and Central. The platforms resemble pyramids, but their tops are flat.
Among over three hundred temples, five temples are the most revered.
These five temples are situated at the centers of the five platforms, respectively:
Wanghai Temple on the East Platform, which enshrines Wise Manjushri.
Falei Temple on the West Platform, which enshrines Lion's Roar Manjushri.
Puji Temple on the South Platform, which enshrines Wisdom Manjushri.
Lingying Temple on the North Platform, which enshrines Pure Manjushri.
Yanjiao Temple on the Central Platform, which enshrines Childlike Manjushri.
The Miaoyin Nunnery that Qin Feng and the others are looking for is located on the Central Platform, adjacent to Yanjiao Temple, and is the only nunnery on Wutai Mountain, enshrining Female Manjushri.
They decided to take the cable car to the Central Platform to save time.
