Battle detected. Reward acquired: Size Manipulation (Termite)
A clean hit. Not bad at all.
"Are you going to help him get justice?"
Fenris looked mockingly at Starlight, who stood silently staring at Termite's corpse, ignored by all.
She was starting to regret ever agreeing to meet with Fenris.
Everything she had seen in the nightclub, its filth, the depravity, the truth Fenris had brutally laid bare, had shaken her long-held beliefs and sense of justice to their core.
Still, after hesitating for a few seconds, she chose to follow after him as he walked away.
Inside the nightclub, security room.
Billy Butcher brought Hughie to a security guard and had him pull up a recording.
On screen, A-Train was drinking.
"Wait, A-Train is here right now?" Hughie asked in alarm.
"He was. This was recorded last night," Butcher replied. "Turn up the volume."
A man dressed unmistakably like a superhero sat beside A-Train.
"I still can't believe you turned a b*tch into paste."
"You wanna hear something crazy?" A-Train's voice came through. "I was running so fast when I blasted through her, I actually swallowed one of her molars. It was like hitting a bug on the highway!"
"Dude, that's disgusting."
"Hahaha!"
"HAHAHA!"
The two of them burst into laughter, as if this were some kind of hilarious joke.
"They're laughing... like she was some kind of joke. They're actually laughing!" Hughie gritted his teeth, fury burning in his eyes. His earlier hesitation had turned into anger and resolve.
Butcher stepped beside him. "So, what are you gonna do?"
Hughie looked at him with a firm gaze. There was no need for words.
Outside the nightclub, in the alley.
Fenris waved toward Hughie and Butcher as they exited.
"Hey, come here. Let's talk."
They had seen him take out Termite with heat vision. Being called over now, Hughie instinctively felt afraid.
That was the same heat vision Homelander had.
Butcher frowned in disgust. He had no love for supes. Especially not one who shared Homelander's powers.
A smile could be polite. Sometimes, it could also be a warning.
Right now, Fenris's smile was definitely the latter.
As they reluctantly approached, Fenris pointed at Butcher and looked at Starlight.
"He's carrying something that can give you answers."
Starlight looked at the guarded Butcher. She couldn't refuse Fenris, and she truly wanted to know, so she stepped forward.
"I don't know what it is, but please, hand it over."
"I don't know what you're talking about. I don't have anything you want," Butcher replied coldly.
Starlight hesitated. She didn't want to fight, but her determination was growing. Sparks danced in her eyes.
Crackling sounds of electricity filled the air. The streetlamp behind them sparked and then blew out with a pop.
"I don't want to hurt you. So give it to me."
She was a Supe too.
"Fine. Here."
Butcher reached into his coat. Seeing Starlight relax slightly, his expression turned sharp and cruel.
"Die."
What he pulled out wasn't a gift. It was a handgun.
Without hesitation, he aimed at Starlight and pulled the trigger. At the same time, he yanked a stunned Hughie and tried to escape.
Bang bang bang!
Bullets flew and clattered to the ground.
Starlight stared in shock at the figure that had stepped in front of her, blocking the bullets. She hadn't expected him to shield her like that.
Strangely, she felt a sudden, indescribable sense of trust and security.

"If you don't move now, they'll get away," Fenris said without looking back.
"Oh! Right!"
Snapping out of her daze, Starlight sidestepped Fenris and hurled a burst of energy at the two fleeing men.
Crackle!
Electricity surged. Butcher and Hughie collapsed to the ground with cries of pain.

Listening to the pleasant chime of notifications, Fenris truly felt that the system's name was well-earned.
In just a few days, he had easily acquired multiple powers.
It didn't matter who it was, if he wanted their ability, all he had to do was say: "That's mine now."
Even duplicate abilities could stack. For now, it seemed that only physical abilities could stack effectively, but that alone already made him stronger than the originals.
Fenris thought of a legendary Marvel character who could infinitely copy and enhance abilities, The Protege.
Compared to him, Fenris had a similar potential ceiling.
No. His ceiling was even higher.
Protege couldn't replicate Fenris's system. But Fenris could acquire Protege's powers through his system.
If even the One Above All ever appeared, Fenris might just be able to earn its abilities too.
And the best part? He wasn't limited to Marvel. He could travel to other worlds, gather powers even more unique and powerful.
So, yes. Bread will come, milk will come.
Everything he desires will be his.
