Chapter 36 - Chapter 34: Clues Pointing to God

Charles almost got dazzled.

The Mermaid's Tears (abandoned nuclear battery), more dazzling than gemstones, and the perfectly intact Ancient Century sculptures (toy models) piled up in three wooden crates!

Lin Lan moved out all the gray junk from the warehouse.

"Too much, Lord Roland, it's really too much..."

Charles stood guarding the crates like a lost soul, his gaze incredibly dazed.

He had thought six or seven rare treasures were already Lord Roland's limit, but never expected him to play entirely by his own rules!

What is Roland's true identity after all?

Could he be some Governor's illegitimate son?!

The merchant's forehead was sweating by now, his speech no longer fluent: "I...I don't have enough Magic Scrolls to block the sea's sight..."

"Then take what you can, take as much as you can carry."

Lin Lan waved his hand, stating directly: "However, I must remind you, these ordinary goods can only be collected, they have no other use."

Charles twitched the corner of his eye.

Lord Roland is really... excessively humble...

Since when are Deep Sea Treasures described as 'ordinary goods'?

Take a look at those perfectly preserved ancient sculptures, these things taken back to the Alliance's main island would be enough for those academy professors to scramble for!

Then, he saw the Lord commanded the attendant to open two more boxes.

Inside were glass bottles filled with red liquid.

"You're likely already familiar with the effects of the 'Blood Circulation Potion.'"

Lin Lan smiled: "The Lion Heart nobility considers treating the Blood Plague taboo, but your Alliance is different, I believe the merchants in Royal City won't miss out on this life-saving guarantee."

Charles tried his best to remain calm.

Looking at those potions, he couldn't help but mourn for Prince Lion Heart.

That madman is relying on power to treat lives carelessly, unknowingly being targeted by an even more frightening monster.

"You can set the price for the treasures and potions, regarding profits, let's go by the seventy-thirty split we agreed on earlier, and..."

Lin Lan added: "I only accept the Alliance's Radiant Gold Coins and resources of equivalent value to the goods."

Charles nodded carefully.

His heart couldn't help but feel excited; this would be an unprecedented large business, these few crates of treasures are enough to leave other merchants stunned!

"Leave the trade dealings of Seagull Town to you."

Lin Lan smiled, patting the merchant's shoulder: "I trust you, Charles."

"I will never disappoint your trust and expectations!"

At this moment, Charles only felt his blood boiling, his commercial ambitions would certainly be realized on this land!

Lin Lan nodded slightly, looking towards the sea, people busy at the pier, the large ships from the Alliance had regained their imposing presence.

Suddenly, Lin Lan's gaze shifted to the slaves Charles brought.

The raggedly clothed people staggered in the cold wind, even if exhausted, they still laboriously toiled.

Charles naturally noticed the Lord's gaze.

Reflecting on Lord Roland's actions over this period, the astute-minded Charles suddenly realized something, his expression instantly turned awkward.

"Uh... Lord Roland..."

He stammered a bit: "These slaves mostly come from other small islands; they are actually abandoned lowly people by local nobles, not protected by any law..."

The so-called 'Empire female slaves' previously locked in cages were actually just a gimmick he fabricated...

Charles' voice became increasingly insecure.

"Rest assured, I won't stand on a moral apex to criticize your past, Charles."

Lin Lan turned to look directly into the merchant's eyes, speaking calmly: "But, if you plan to establish a lasting deep cooperation with me, you must learn to respect life."

He spoke to the point.

Lin Lan wouldn't clamor immediately for the abolition of slavery; that's impractical, the path must be walked step by step, empty slogans are meaningless.

Charles' mood felt somewhat complex inexplicably.

He lowered his head, seriously thinking for a while, then quietly asked the Lord: "What do you intend to accomplish on this land?"

The gray-haired youth remained calm and inscrutable.

What to do?

Use the system to become world's strongest? Rule with an iron fist over corpses?

Actually, Lin Lan didn't have such complex thoughts.

He chuckled softly: "I just intend to reach out and help this world a bit, that's all."

·

Charles carefully selected some rare treasures, leaving Seagull Town with a load full of cargo.

Due to insufficient manpower, he also took some experienced old fishermen from the town, thus Lin Lan made his first step in Otherworld's ocean.

Lin Lan walked, holding the horse, on the smooth cobblestone path.

The makeshift camp was right ahead.

According to Priest Sean's account, the refugees he led were down to about a hundred people; in this group were carpenters, blacksmiths, textile workers, and the rest were children and elderly.

Wendy was currently in the camp checking the children's symptoms, holding a notebook, carefully recording the gathered information, occasionally smiling and chatting with the children.

The tall priest looked tense, trailing after Wendy step by step.

Lin Lan regarded Sean's back thoughtfully.

After finishing the chores, he could finally calm down to contemplate the details hidden behind the events.

One thing he was very concerned about.

The leader of the refugees, Sean, is a 'Sun Praise' Priest.

When the refugees were struggling with the Blood Plague, it was he who repeatedly prayed to the sun, dispelling the curse rooted in people's bodies.

Without Sean's perseverance, it's likely the refugees would have perished on the road long ago.

"It is the Lord who saved us!"

Just then, someone spotted Lin Lan's figure, and the crowd instantly gathered around, with some excited townsfolk already kneeling to the ground.

"From today onward, you don't need to kneel upon seeing me."

Yet, Lin Lan was solemn, issuing his first Lord's command to the somewhat excited crowd, then he looked towards Wendy: "How are the patients now?"

"The children's symptoms have completely dissipated."

Wendy held her notebook, looking exhilarated: "In my observation, people even exhibit immunity to the Blood Plague; even when I subtly mention related knowledge, there's no sign of any curses appearing!"

Lin Lan nodded, then looked at Sean.

In this world, there truly exists extraordinary power, and now, it's right before his eyes.

Lin Lan asked: "Sean, is the sun you worship a god?"

Sean was taken aback, his expression immediately turned confused.

He cautiously said: "My Lord, I don't understand what you're saying..."

Lin Lan thought for a bit and continued asking: "May I take a look at your Prayer Book?"

"Of course, my Lord."

Sean quickly took out a black leather book from his bosom, respectfully handing it to the Lord.

Lin Lan curiously opened the cover, only to see the first page of the book with several bizarre-shaped characters.

"What do these characters mean?"

"I am not sure either, my Lord..."

Sean was equally clueless, softly explaining: "I only know the pronunciation of the characters; the old priest who taught me told me these characters are the cipher to communicate with the sun..."

Lin Lan was stunned at this moment.

Because the semi-transparent system panel popped up at this moment, hovering above the Prayer Book, proactively translating the text inside.

The words boldly stated:
