"Are you done?" Lilith asked while digging through the drawers of the old desk. The wood creaked softly under her fingers as she shoved things around inside.
"Yup!" Vex said while zipping up his pants. He stepped aside and approached his twin, revealing the dead body of a girl lying on the floor behind him.
"Did you find anything useful?" Vex ran his hand through his chestnut hair, then touched Lilith on the shoulder. "We have to go..."
Lilith pulled out some paper from the drawer and turned toward her brother. "Got it!" she said, then followed after Vex.
Together, they left the house and climbed onto the roof.
"AHHH!" a scream echoed from the house they had just exited. It was a sharp sound, likely triggered when the father saw his dead daughter on the floor.
Lilith ignored the screaming and lifted the paper, which turned out to be a check. "This will keep us fed for a few more weeks," she whispered.
