The moon rises at dusk and fog rises when the moon sets.

The first thing Naruto did in the new day was yawn and glance at Yoshino, who was hurriedly putting on her clothes beside him.

She hadn't slept all night. Instead, she had remained kneeling the whole time. Her white legs were now red and swollen at the knees.

Naruto noticed this and felt a pang of sympathy: "There will be plenty of time in the future. Why push yourself so hard? It must hurt."

"Get out of here, you scumbag liar!"

There was a mix of embarrassment and frustration on Yoshino's face. This man had deceived her so deeply, she could hardly believe it.

At first, she thought he was paralyzed, which made her pity him—even to the point of initiating intimacy out of sympathy.

But partway through, he suddenly revealed he was not paralyzed at all, and she had been taken for a ride.

"I admit it. I lied," Naruto said with a mischievous tone. "But who's the real scumbag here? If I recall, you were the one who pinned me against the wall. I didn't move a muscle at first."

"That's… not what I meant! I just felt bad for you. You looked like you were in pain."

Yoshino was both flustered and angry, but Naruto wasn't wrong. With a huff, she turned her head away.

"Yes, yes. I'm just a poor, pitiful soul. Now, please have mercy and rest." Naruto gently held her hand. "You didn't sleep at all last night. Let me take care of you."

He activated a stream of golden chakra, infusing it into Yoshino's body. The Nine-Tails chakra, purified by incense, had lost its destructive tendencies but retained its vitality and healing properties.

Soon, the redness and swelling on her knees faded.

"Rest, baby."

Naruto gazed at her affectionately, and Yoshino's face flushed red.

"I don't want to fall for him, but he calls me 'baby'..."

Yoshino had always been fond of sweet words. Last night, Naruto discovered this and used it to charm her repeatedly.

But Yoshino wasn't good at returning them. Now, she simply mumbled back: "Oh."

Naruto pulled her into his arms, letting her lie against his lap to nap. Meanwhile, he focused on assessing the power within him.

His chakra was still immense, but noticeably reduced after using the Eight Gates. If luck was on his side, he estimated a full recovery in three to five days.

As he thought, he noticed Yoshino watching him closely.

"What? Is your husband so handsome you're mesmerized?"

"Pfft!" Yoshino turned away. "I have a husband. You're nothing but a cheat."

Realizing how that sounded, she glanced at Naruto nervously.

But Naruto only smiled.

Her being married only boosted his motivation and made the game more exciting.

"Baby, since you're feeling better, how about another round of talking?" Naruto said, helping her roll over gently.

The sun rose higher.

Yoshino clumsily pushed Naruto away and ran off, swearing she would stay away from Menma and that he should keep his hands off her for a while.

But Naruto is Naruto, and Menma is Menma. If she avoids Menma, what does that have to do with Naruto?

So Naruto whispered sweet words and lured her back into his embrace.

As the morning wore on.

Yoshino cried, "It feels like all you want is to sleep with me."

Naruto responded, "Baby, I touch you because I love you."

Yoshino bit her lip: "Really?"

His eyes gleamed with sincerity. "You have to believe me."

In the river.

Naruto was doing push-ups, the cold water rushing over his body. The pressure of the current made him gasp for breath.

"Nine hundred ninety-eight."

"Nine hundred ninety-nine."

"One thousand!"

With a growl, Naruto collapsed into the water.

Time passed slowly, the water offering a sense of peace.

Moments later, Yoshino burst from beneath the surface, having practiced her diving. She glared at Naruto, then picked up her clothes and covered her pale legs.

She slipped on her ninja shoes with practiced care, shielding her delicate feet.

"Why are you lying in the water like that? Aren't you worried about drowning?"

This time, she kept her distance. She swore she would never fall for Namikaze Menma again.

Every time, he would coax her, inject Nine-Tails chakra, and call it "helping her relax."

But he never considered what was causing her fatigue in the first place.

"Baby."

"Don't call me that again!"

Now, just hearing the word gave her a stress reaction.

She turned and fled. "I'm going to find Mikoto. She's probably fuming and ready to scold me."

Naruto scratched his head awkwardly.

Maybe Yoshino wasn't the only one who would be criticized.

In Mikoto's mind, Naruto was probably now a scumbag who pretended to be paralyzed to seduce women.

Who knew what she would think after witnessing his true power?

Would she compare him to Uchiha Fugaku?

Heh.

Before getting dressed, Naruto admired his toned muscles once more.

He set up a stove and started preparing a meal. Since he no longer needed to pretend to be paralyzed, he could finally stop torturing himself with bad food.

He summoned ingredients from his storage scroll and laid them out, waiting for Yoshino and Mikoto to return.

In this world, a woman who couldn't cook was unheard of. Even elite Anbu like Yūgao had to learn to cook to be considered marriage material.

It was tradition. Mikoto and Yoshino, both married women, would definitely help.

Naruto's cooking skills, after all, left much to be desired.

He waited for nearly an hour. Still no sign of them.

Something felt off.

"Izumi, where did they go?"

The southeast branches rustled.

A soft voice responded, "I don't know where Miss Yoshino went."

"Alright, I'll go look. You stay and watch the pot. Talk to my clone if anything happens."

With a bang, over twenty clones appeared and spread out. One remained behind with Izumi.

From her hiding spot, Izumi watched Naruto leave and blinked.

"Naruto-kun, I wasn't lying. I really don't know where Yoshino went."

"You left before I could finish."

She leaned against a tree and pulled out a camera.

"Recording life is so much fun. Next time, I'll get Yumuren to join in."

She smiled, watching the raunchy footage she captured—courtesy of the camera Samui had given her.

She didn't expect it would come in handy today.

Naruto calling Yoshino "baby" made Izumi jealous.

"Being precious comes at a price, Miss Yoshino. If you ever hurt Naruto-kun, be prepared to debut as a star. The world will see your performance."

Naruto found Yoshino over ten kilometers away.

She was squatting, dazed and fearful.

When she saw Naruto, she bolted into his arms.

"Let's elope! I'm not going back to Konoha!"

Naruto blinked. "What happened?"

Defecting wasn't unheard of, but Yoshino had never defected in the original timeline.

Was it his interference?

"Mikoto is missing!"

Yoshino's voice trembled. "She must've looked down on me and left."

Naruto was stunned. "Really? Mikoto seemed kind these past few days. Why would she look down on you?"

"She warned me before we got together. She probably thinks I've fallen. If she tells others what we did, I'll be ruined."

"Even though Shikaku and I don't love each other, we're still married."

Naruto frowned. It was a valid concern.

Rumors were deadly. Konoha's White Fang committed suicide over public backlash. If Yoshino's affair was exposed, she'd be shunned.

He didn't know enough about Mikoto to say if she'd keep quiet.

"Don't worry. She's probably just out looking for food. I'm hungry, too. Let's go eat."

Yoshino nodded and followed Naruto back to the river.

The pot and ingredients were still waiting. Yoshino's mood lifted slightly as she started cooking.

Neither considered Mikoto might be in danger.

After all, Naruto had been more vulnerable last night.

But the opposite happened.

Just after they finished eating, Naruto got a message from a clone. Mikoto had left something behind—in the northwest.

Northwest wasn't toward Konoha. It was the front line between Konoha and Iwagakure.

"Oh no, Mikoto might be in trouble."

He told Yoshino what his clone discovered.

"Damn Iwagakure!"

Yoshino panicked. "Menma, I have to save her! I can't let her get captured."

Her guilt was unbearable. Mikoto had taken watch duty so she could rest.

She looked at Naruto hopefully.

But he didn't move.

Was he refusing?

Had she misjudged him?

"I'll go save her myself! Wait here!"

"How will you save her alone?"

"None of your business!"

"Tsk, no need to shout."

Naruto grabbed her hand. "If anyone's waiting, it's you for me. But I don't like waiting. Let's go together."

"You hesitated."

Naruto grinned. "How could I ignore the person you want to save? Your problems are mine."

Your problems are mine.

He didn't care about Mikoto but was willing to risk himself for her?

Yoshino was touched.

"Thank you."

"Not sincere enough. You should say, 'Thank you, husband.'"

The sun dappled through the leaves, lighting Naruto's face. The breeze was perfect.

Yoshino whispered, "Thank you, husband."

Up in the tree, Izumi seethed.

"I haven't even called him that yet."

Naruto didn't know what she was thinking. He led Yoshino away. As he turned, disappointment flickered in his eyes.

Still no system choice.

This much action and no option?

He silently invoked: "Trigger Active Choice."
