Chapter 2 - Burning Hearts: The CEO's Forbidden Obsession

Chapter 2: The Devil's Offer

Dominic circled her like a predator sizing up prey.

"You're bold," he said, voice low and unreadable. "But boldness doesn't earn trust in this building."

"I didn't come here to be trusted," Selene said, holding his gaze. "I came here to work."

That amused him. The corner of his mouth twitched, but the smile never reached his eyes.

"Tell me, Miss Rivera," he said, "do you enjoy working under pressure?"

"I thrive under it."

"Good."

He turned away and tapped a key on his desk. "Ava, book two seats on the next flight to Tokyo. Three hours. Send her itinerary."

Selene blinked. "Wait—what?"

"You wanted real work?" he said, stepping closer again. "You're flying with me tonight. We have a deal to close in Japan."

She hesitated. "Is this… appropriate?"

Dominic raised an eyebrow. "I don't care about appropriate. I care about results. You said you could handle anything."

"I can."

"Then pack light. We leave at six."

Selene swallowed the lump in her throat and nodded. "Fine. Anything else?"

He leaned forward, voice barely a whisper. "Don't test me, Selene. You won't like what happens when I stop being polite."

She smiled, sweet and defiant. "I wasn't expecting polite, Mr. Wolfe."

Their eyes locked.

Then she turned on her heel and walked out.

Dominic watched her go, jaw clenched.

This was dangerous.

He'd invited chaos into his world.

And for the first time in years, Dominic Wolfe wasn't sure if he was in control—or already falling.
