Chapter 2 - First Simulation

— Ding!

[ Choose three out of these five talents: Asshole (White), Serial Killer (Green), Athlete (White), Eerie Presence (Green), Knife Handling (White) ]

[ Asshole (White): You are an asshole, every single sentence you say will be twisted to fortify your asshole image. ]

[ Serial Killer (Green): You have the heart of a serial killer, you have an inherent instinct for murder. ]

[ Athlete (White): You have an athletic physique. ]

[ Eerie Presence (Green): Your presence instills fear and discomfort into everyone around you. ]

[ Knife Handling (White): You have some experience with knife. ]

Nathan's gaze slowly scanned through the talents and nodded in silent satisfaction.

"Two green talents, that's not so bad isn't it?"

He placed his fingers over his chin, tracing its outline as he contemplated the choice.

It doesn't take long as he chooses the talent of Serial Killer (Green), Eerie Presence (Green) and Knife Handling (White).

The talents he had chosen had quite a chemistry, both the 'Eerie Presence' and 'Knife Handling' would complement the 'Serial Killer' talent unlike the rest.

[ Loading the simulation… ]

— Ding!

[ Your mind was stirred by a strange sensation and you woke up. ]

[ Your gaze locked onto a nearby mirror and analyzed your appearance, nothing out of ordinary except you might be a little more handsome. ]

[ You calmly walked over to the window and observed the countless figures wandering the streets, you knew that the world you are currently living in is a world facing Zombie Apocalypse, you still have memories of pre-simulation and acknowledge that you were a simulated version of yourself. ]

[ You noted that the simulated body has some level of 'psychopathy' that causes a dampened sense of empathy, you walked out of the door and went to the basement. ]

[ You reached the basement, you outstretched your hand and turned the lights on, butchered remains of your latest victim laid bare on the wooden table. You did not feel anything. ]

"Hmm, is he going to use the corpse as bait?" Nathan asked before adding. "He's definitely using the corpse as bait."

[ You have gathered each severed part into a trash bag, you walked up leaving the basement and went into the kitchen. You grabbed a knife. ]

[ You went outside your house and tossed the trash bag after you tore a hole in it, the zombies catched the smell of a corpse and walked into the thrown body parts direction. You managed to walk by due to smearing yourself with blood. ]

[ You calmly walked through the streets avoiding most of the zombies, your gaze scanned through the corpses of men and women, adults and children, wealthy and poor littered all over the ground, you let out a sigh and did not react further. ]

[ You stopped around the houses to resupply your food and water, you walked out of the streets once again, the blood smeared on your body have already dried out as you were being targeted by the zombies again. ]

[ You fought them off, using tricks and feints you managed to escape with only a small scratch from one of the zombie's teeth. You instinctively knew, that you were reaching your own limit. ]

[ You sat down leaning against the street lamp, your skin color turned pale then the veins all over your body bulged. Your consciousness buzzed with confusion, your bodily function failed one after another, your vision began to blur. ]

[ Your body moved, you were still aware, still conscious, you questioned whether this was a unique perk as a simulated self or is the fate of every single zombies that you have encountered. ]

[ You wandered the streets like those zombies before, you felt an unending hunger deep within your soul demanding flesh and blood to be satiated. ]

[ It has been 2 and a half weeks, you saw through your blurry eyes multiple figures, one of them rushed towards you, their hands combusting into a violent flames as you were burned to ashes. ]

[ You have died. ]

— Ding!

[ Simulation has ended, the simulation grade is: D ]

[ Loading rewards… ]

[ Choose one of these rewards: ]

[ 1 - Comprehensive Power Obtained During The Simulation ]

[ 2 - Zombie Bloodline (F-Tier) ]

[ 3 - Serial Killer (Green) ]

[ 4 - Eerie Presence (Green) ]

[ 5 - Knife Handling (White) ]

"That was quick." Nathan calmly muttered as he weighed the options he received.

"Serial Killer is out, I'm not a fan of being a total generic movie psychopath. Eerie Presence is out, I don't want to be an outcast, lived a whole lifetime worth of experience. Zombie Bloodline is a no go, I don't really wanna experience that. This left me with the Knife Handling talent or number 1."

He calmly listed and disregarded most of the options, then he asked, "System, what is the number 1? Is it my total power level in the simulation or something?"

[ Yes, Host. The number 1 reward will grant you everything whether it was your physical strength, endurance, durability and speed, or practically any power you have inside the simulation. For example, in this simulation you were turned into a zombie, the number 1 reward will grant you that physical power without any other zombie trait. ]

Nathan quietly listened to the system's explanation while nodding slowly with his eyes closed, he opened them and turned his gaze to the system panel.

"It would be quite stupid to not choose this over everything else especially when I could only choose one." He commented with an amused smile on his face.

He had chosen the number 1 reward, within his body a strange power flowed through which enhanced his physique.

"This is the strength of a mere F-Tier Zombie? That's crazy." He punched the concrete wall with minimal force and left a fist-sized dent on them. "It seemed to be roughly equal to a Grade 1 Hunter, well it's quite good despite being only a low-superhuman level of power."

— Ding!

[ Host has chosen the reward, since the simulation grade is D, the cooldown time is only 1 hour and 30 minutes. ]

"That's quite a short cooldown, I think I'll be playing some games to pass the time." He stood up and walked over to his computer, turned it on and entered the game.
