Chapter 139 - Chapter 140: Vollständig Bankai, Achieved

Ishida Ryūken didn't fully understand Amamiya Miyako's obsessive drive to hone his Quincy arts. The young man had been pushing himself relentlessly in that special chamber, a room saturated with high-density Reishi that actively resisted manipulation. A Gemischt Quincy, lacking the protective Blut of the Echt, should have seen their powers atrophy under such conditions long ago. Yet, Amamiya persisted. Had he truly broken through some limit? Ryūken could only guess.

Suddenly, Ryūken's head snapped toward the window. His Quincy senses, finely tuned to the flow of spiritual particles, screamed an alarm.

"Impossible… Reishi is visibly converging… here?!" he muttered, disbelief sharp in his voice.

Outside, the normally thin, placid Reishi of the Human World was stirring, flowing like an invisible river toward a single point: Karakura General Hospital. More precisely, toward the foundation directly beneath his feet.

A cold realization dawned. "Could it be…?" He shoved his chair back and broke into a run, heading for the basement stairs.

Within the sealed training chamber, the air hummed with latent power. Amamiya stood at the center, his Zanpakutō released in its intermediary form—the massive, stringless bow of Shinya Zetsunen hovered beside him.

Quincy power is, at its core, the dominion over Reishi—gathering sparse particles, condensing them, forging them into weapons. In environments like Hueco Mundo or Soul Society, rich with ambient spirit energy, this is easier. But a Quincy's range is limited; drain the Reishi in your vicinity, and you're left powerless.

Ransōtengai, the pinnacle Quincy art, shatters that limit. It expands the range of control and elevates the practitioner's affinity, allowing them to draw Reishi from vast distances, even to decompose solid spiritual matter back into usable particles.

This room was the ultimate crucible for that art. It was filled with Reishi, but Reishi imbued with a powerful diffusive force, making it struggle against cohesion, fighting the Quincy's will at every turn.

Amamiya had discovered a secret. His Shikai, Zannenjō, Tamayori (God-Rejecting, Soul-Severing), was not merely a weapon of 'rejection.' Its fundamental mechanism was an exquisite, high-level manipulation of Reishi—coating surfaces, separating energies, even restructuring particles to mimic Kidō. In Soul Society, using this aspect openly was dangerous. But here, in private, he could fuse his Shinigami and Quincy natures.

Night after night, he had maintained his Shikai within this room, using its innate Reishi-affinity to wrestle with the rebellious energy, forcing it to bend to his will, to form the phantom of a bow and arrow where none should exist.

The training was brutal, far beyond what he'd imagined. It gave him a new appreciation for Ishida Uryū's achievement with the Letzt Stil. That power leap wasn't just about environment; it was a testament to sheer, desperate will. The fabled Vollständig of the Wandenreich likely had Yhwach's direct blessing, but the Letzt Stil proved the gap was bridgeable through grit alone.

'My method… is probably unique to me.'

A sense of culmination washed over him. His Shikai had fully acclimated, its resonance with the dense, wild Reishi reaching a perfect pitch.

"Then… it's time." He raised a hand toward the floating bow.

"Bankai. Shinya Zetsunen – Jōsō no Yumi."

The colossal bow flared with inner light, its form stabilizing, growing even more real, more present. The moment his Bankai fully manifested, his Reishi manipulation underwent a seismic shift.

The high-density Reishi in the room, which had fought him for weeks, suddenly stilled. Then, it began to flow. Not randomly, but in obedient streams, gathering around Amamiya's body as if drawn by a new, irresistible gravity.

The adaptation to the diffusive force, combined with the exponential boost from his Bankai, created an effect identical to removing the Sanrei Glove—a sudden, overwhelming access to absolute Reishi control.

'Hōgyoku. You know my desire. You've always known. Now… fulfill it!'

Deep within his soul, the orb of miracles trembled in response. It had listened to his relentless hunger, his will to transcend. A blue-black light pulsed in the darkness of his inner world.

There, the manifested spirit of his Zanpakutō's offensive aspect, Zetsun, threw back his head and laughed, a sound of pure, wild triumph. "YES, Miyako! USE IT! Seize the Quincy's highest realm! The ultimate power!"

Nearby, Kojin, the spirit of defense, snorted in disdain but said nothing. He was annoyed that the 'false' Bankai of the Quincy-side had been achieved before Amamiya mastered his true, Shinigami Bankai.

In the physical world, the Reishi vortex tightened, but the energy in the entire room was being consumed at a terrifying rate. The luminous wings forming at Amamiya's back remained translucent, flickering like heat haze, unable to solidify into their full, majestic form. The crown of light around his head was a mere shimmering outline.

The room itself groaned. Then, with a sound like fracturing crystal, the spiritual-glass walls—composed of dense Reishi—began to crack and disintegrate, their substance breaking down into raw particles and being pulled into the hungry maelstrom around him.

Even with this extra influx, the energy wrapped around Amamiya's body remained indistinct, a brilliant but blurry aura. The wings were mere ghosts.

Yet, Amamiya carefully felt the Reishi adhering to his will, thrumming with obedient power, and a wide, triumphant smile spread across his face.

He had done it. While the Vollständig hadn't fully materialized, the state had been achieved. The failure to complete it was a simple matter of logistics: the Human World's ambient Reishi was too sparse, and he lacked the prepared Silber vessels to store and channel the necessary energy.

"This… is my Quincy's ultimate form. But not Vollständig. This form, achieved through my Zanpakutō… should be called Vollständig Bankai!" He stared at the energy swirling around his hands, watching it change form at a thought, murmuring the name with obsessive satisfaction.

After a moment, he released Shinya Zetsunen. The massive bow dissolved into light, and the gathered Reishi dissipated, leaving the room in ruins.

He understood the distinction. A true Vollständig was unleashed through pure Quincy mastery. His was a hybrid anomaly, a shortcut paved by his Zanpakuto's power. But the result—the sublime dominion over Reishi—was what mattered. Hence, the new name: Vollständig Bankai.

When Ishida Ryūken finally reached the chamber, he found devastation. The diffusion-generating device was shattered, the walls crumbling. In the center stood Amamiya Miyako, radiating an aura of profound, quiet elation.

"What have you done?" Ryūken asked, his voice tight with a dawning, impossible suspicion.

Amamiya, still savoring the feeling of effortless control, turned to him. "My apologies, Ishida-san. My Reishi manipulation improved… a bit more than expected. I seem to have damaged your training room."

"Improved…?" Ryūken's usually impassive face showed genuine shock. He had perfected his own Ransōtengai here, but the process had never caused destruction on this scale. For the room itself to be consumed… it pointed to only one conclusion. "You reached… that realm? A Gemischt… a Shinigami… how?"

Amamiya understood his disbelief. His success was built on a unique foundation: his Zanpakuto's affinity, the Hōgyoku's guidance, and his own latent Quincy potential all converging to force open a door that should have been locked. But the final form required a fuel this world couldn't provide.

"The conditions were… specific," Amamiya admitted. "But Ishida-san, are you ready?" His previous elation hardened into focused determination. "It's time to depart for Hueco Mundo."

What he had to do next was clear: confront Aizen, and perhaps seize the other Hōgyoku. There was also a certain exiled scientist in that white desert with whom he might need to have a… discussion about their mutual problem.
