Chapter 164 - Honkai: Star Rail — Kamen Rider! [164]

At this moment, Memoria seemed to become an extension of her sense of touch.

With Memoria completely covering his entire body, Titania could distinctly feel every texture of the person beside her.

The lines of his muscles, the distribution of pores—every detail about his external body flooded Titania's mind in an instant.

She could even clearly sense the rhythm of his beating heart.

Each beat echoed intimately, resonating through the Memoria itself.

This strange sensation, this intense stimulation, immediately threw Titania into panic!

"Why the hell are you tangled up with me?!"

In a flustered cry, she hastily withdrew all those extensions of her senses.

She hadn't forgotten their conflict before she'd lost consciousness.

The two were mortal enemies, locked in a battle to the death until the very last moment.

And now, upon awakening, she found herself intimately entangled with this person. How could that possibly be acceptable?!

Absolutely not acceptable!

She was a queen, an Aeon of Propagation—how could she let something like this happen?!

Disgusting!

Indeed, right now, Titania felt an overwhelming disgust toward this person named Hoshigaki Sora.

This feeling was like tiny insects crawling all over her body, an itching sensation spreading from within.

It was slight enough to ignore, yet persistently reminded her of its presence.

And besides, Titania hadn't forgotten her evaluation of Sora either:

This guy was clearly an idiot!

What if prolonged contact with an idiot infected her?

After all, she was—a goddess!

Fools like this needed to stay far away from her!

In an instant, the pool filled with Memoria emptied completely. Sora suddenly crashed straight to the bottom of the pool.

The impact against the hard surface snapped him immediately back to reality.

?!

"What the heck just happened?!" He looked around in confusion, unable to comprehend the situation.

But very quickly, he noticed something strange:

Why had this Memoria immersion ended so abruptly?

Sora glanced at his phone's clock. This session was even shorter than the previous one.

Of course, he'd never guess that a certain someone had abruptly reclaimed all the Memoria around him.

From her initial panic, Titania quickly recovered her composure, now carefully assessing her own condition.

Sora wasn't dead—that much she could confirm.

Did that mean she'd been reborn?

Moreover…

Titania sank her consciousness inward, feeling her current state deeply.

At this moment, her mind became exceptionally clear.

She realized her power was only one ten-thousandth of its peak state.

This sensation felt both unfamiliar and novel to Titania.

The Memoria continuously flowed around her, gently soothing the overwhelmingly strong instinctual urges she once had.

Just as her power was greatly reduced, so too was the instinctive desire driven by her Path.

Although these desires remained intense for an individual, compared to this vast planet of Memoria, they seemed extremely insignificant.

They only created minor ripples within Memoria, quickly dissipating without a trace.

Those urges were now neatly sealed away by Memoria, locked deep inside Titania's new body.

Externally, her consciousness felt as though it had been truly reborn.

The emotions long suppressed by her endless instinct to propagate now flowed freely.

She could feel her own emotional fluctuations. The sensation was indescribably strange yet wondrous.

From initial panic to her current tranquility and curiosity—

"What… what's happening to me?" Titania whispered, puzzled and uncertain.

She sensed a brand-new equilibrium forming within her—perhaps due to some remnant power from another existence.

Yet all this felt utterly alien to Titania.

For the first time, free of overwhelming instincts, she could carefully experience the world.

Anxiety and excitement. Uncertainty and joy.

These feelings overwhelmed her, yet also introduced her to entirely new emotions.

And that wasn't all!

She could sense every subtle shift on this planet.

Tiny details—angles of light, ripples in pools, particles of dust suspended in air—

To larger scenes—the bustling lives across the planet, humans at work, machinery in motion—

Memoria filled this entire planet, allowing Titania to sense every facet of life here.

Everything felt incredibly vivid, undeniably real.

"Is this what it means… to be alive?" Titania wasn't entirely sure.

She had experienced living before, but never quite like this.

Doubts flooded her mind, and even questioning herself like this felt oddly childish.

She knew she needed answers. But from whom?

Titania's eyes naturally fell onto Hoshigaki Sora.

But almost immediately, she rejected the idea herself.

No, I absolutely cannot ask that idiot. If his stupidity infected me, it'd be disastrous.

Thus, she began searching for someone else capable of answering her questions.

However, she didn't realize that "disgust" was precisely the one emotion that should never appear within Propagation itself.

...

After Sora finished his deep immersion, everything around him seemed strangely off.

Everyone else emerging from their Memoria baths also appeared dazed.

Some even claimed they'd encountered the God of Tartaro and vowed to return home to worship him.

But when asked what exactly the God of Tartaro had told them—

They suddenly became hesitant, mumbling and refusing to answer clearly.

It was so ridiculous that Sora nearly laughed aloud. God of Tartaro? Had they forgotten what kind of planet this was?

This was a planet made entirely of Memoria!

If Memoria somehow gained its own central consciousness, wouldn't that essentially mean the planet itself was alive?

What, did it want to become another Promia?

Well, if so, it might want to consider if it could survive Promia's fate—

An apocalypse visited by miracles from the Aeons of Destruction and Hunt simultaneously.

Only after such trials had Promia secured its continued existence in this universe.

How could this planet possibly attract the gaze of so many mighty Aeons?

"They're really full of themselves," Sora shook his head, dismissing these claims entirely.

Compared to a supposed Tartaro god, he was much more inclined to believe Titania's revival had caused Memoria depletion here.

Otherwise, how could this immersion session have ended so quickly? Even shorter than last time, finishing abruptly before he could even settle in?

"After I take care of you, I'll definitely make up for all this lost time."

[Planetary Library Connection: Progress 65%...]

Seeing the progress, Sora made a firm decision in his heart:

Once this was all settled, he'd spend at least an entire day immersed deeply in Memoria, properly relieving his accumulated exhaustion.

Only then could he fully compensate himself for these recent inconveniences.

"Hmph!"

Suddenly, a cold snort startled Sora. He quickly glanced around, but nobody seemed nearby.

What was this—was he hearing ghosts…?

"Ah, what a coincidence, Hoshigaki-san. I didn't expect to meet you here."

Just as Sora began wondering if he'd encountered a ghost, a familiar voice suddenly spoke directly before him.

Hoshigaki Sora raised his head, seeing a man and a woman standing before him.

The man was Jobs, whom he'd met earlier; beside him stood a woman whose features held a mature beauty, yet whose body had a slightly translucent, ethereal quality.

Sora recalled what Jobs had mentioned earlier, realization flashing briefly in his eyes:

This woman must be Jobs's late wife.

After exchanging brief greetings, Sora asked Jobs where he was headed.

"Just now, there seemed to be some instability on this planet, so I plan to check on our local branch," Jobs replied. He glanced at Sora's attire, quickly adding, "Looks like you've just finished your immersion, Hoshigaki-san. Did you notice anything unusual?"

Unusual? Other than his immersion sessions growing shorter each time, nothing really stood out…

"My senses felt normal, but I've been feeling a little uneasy lately…" Sora replied.

Of course, he knew this wasn't exactly what Jobs was asking about.

He also knew Titania's existence posed a genuine threat.

Without openly revealing Titania's revival, Sora intended to gently persuade Jobs to evacuate the area.

After all, recalling his previous battle with Titania, they'd nearly torn Zieltworth apart.

If something similar happened here, this entire planet might not survive intact…

"Oh? What exactly do you mean by that?" Jobs immediately seized on Sora's words, his expression sharpening with curiosity.

Since Titania's situation involved Aeon-level secrets, Sora naturally couldn't mention it directly.

Instead, he used a subtle explanation to hint at what might soon unfold here.

"To be honest, I have an ability that lets me sense impending danger to a certain extent."

Jobs momentarily froze upon hearing Sora's claim, surprise quickly passing into thoughtful consideration.

Indeed, in this vast universe, countless species possessed strange and mysterious abilities.

Though precognition-like powers remained exceedingly rare…

"My ability allows me to foresee incoming danger, and just now, it activated again."

"You're saying…"

"Yes. Although I can't guarantee its accuracy, it would still be wise for you to prepare in advance, Jobs-san."

Jobs nodded slowly, falling into silent contemplation before offering Sora a small, grateful smile.

"Thank you for the warning, Hoshigaki-san. I'll certainly give this matter my fullest consideration."

Jobs and his wife hurried away shortly afterward.

Watching them leave, Sora knew he needed to act swiftly as well.

"I'd better start evacuation preparations immediately."

If another clash erupted here, nowhere on this planet would be safe.

Sora quickly decided to organize evacuation plans in advance.

Although the Iron Cavalry were still under the planet's forcibly calming buff, they always listened to him.

He planned to have them ready, so that once the time was right, they could directly confront Titania again.

He would then ask Robin to inform and guide the public evacuation.

Otherwise, given the peacefulness of this planet, nobody would believe a crisis was imminent.

...

Using his authority as a company director, Jobs soon obtained comparative data from the local IPC branch stationed here.

"Today, we indeed detected a fluctuation affecting the planet-wide Memoria field, but we suspect it's due to a solar flare from a distant star."

"Periodic solar flares are perfectly normal occurrences, Director Jobs, so there's really no need to worry."

Jobs listened but couldn't help furrowing his brow. "Are you sure that's all it was?"

Had he not spoken to Sora, he might've accepted this explanation easily. But now, he couldn't shake his uncertainty.

After all, supernatural phenomena couldn't simply be explained by standard science.

"Yes, the star is perfectly stable and won't enter a declining phase for hundreds of millions of years, so please rest assured."

Jobs nodded slowly, reluctantly accepting the explanation for now.

Returning home with his wife, he entered their large estate.

"We'll begin the plan tonight…" Jobs told his wife resolutely upon reaching home. "We can't delay any further."

Sora's warning had heightened Jobs's urgency; waiting was no longer an option.

"Do we really need to rush things?" His wife calmly asked, her voice steady and tranquil. "I feel we could wait until the conditions fully mature."

"I'm already past the point of waiting, my dear!" Jobs's voice surged with emotion.

He reached out to gently touch his wife's face, but his hand passed through her intangible form.

"I can't bear waiting any longer to reunite with all of you."

His wife's beauty remained untouched by time, but Jobs had already aged into middle age.

"I've waited decades for this opportunity, and now it's right before me—how can I possibly wait any longer?"

As he spoke, a warm, hopeful smile gradually appeared on his face.

"When everything is finished, I'll finally return home with you all."

Jobs's wife remained calm, her expression unchanging. She was composed entirely of Memoria, her emotional state perfectly preserved within stable memories.

All she could do now was comfort her husband exactly as she remembered doing in life.

"It's all right. After all, the company calls you 'Jobs who always wins,' remember?"

She gently reached out, attempting to comfortingly wrap his hand—but the intangible image only passed through again, causing Jobs's fists to clench tightly.

Even if it means stepping into the domain of gods themselves…

I swear I'll bring you all back!
