Chapter 60 - Chapter 61: This is the Forbidden Forest

Clip-clop, clip-clop.

The unicorn's hooves continuously struck the muddy ground, splashing dirt in all directions, yet not a single drop fell on its silver-white fur.

As the most sacred of creatures, their bodies naturally repelled all filth, but this talent couldn't help them refuse those with malicious intent.

And their blood, capable of extending life, was the most treasured possession of those with nowhere else to turn.

Even though drinking unicorn blood would make their lives incomplete, when things had reached this point, what use was a complete life?

"Neigh!"

Barely dodging a curse, the little unicorn felt it couldn't hold on much longer.

Its body could no longer support prolonged running, and the wounds on its body made it feel waves of dizziness.

Under the moonlight, a deep wound that reached the bone glowed faintly silver. Silver-white blood continuously dripped down its body, and the intense pain nearly caused it to collapse several times.

It knew very well that if its blood's power wouldn't be greatly diminished after death, it would have already died halfway.

But even so, it felt like death wasn't far away.

Feeling its steps growing slower and slower, deep regret gradually arose in the little unicorn's heart.

It shouldn't have disobeyed its parents and run out on its own.

That jerk Evans had also said before that there was something bad at the school recently, telling it to be careful.

But he had promised to visit Kelly every half month.

He had also said that if Kelly encountered danger, he would definitely appear.

Wuu... Bad person, liar...

In its blurred consciousness, the little unicorn's front hoof stepped on a medium-sized stone. Under normal circumstances, such a stone wouldn't cause it to lose balance, but now it became the last straw that broke the unicorn's back.

Its body fell sideways. Feeling the sharp pain from its leg, Kelly's consciousness grew increasingly blurred until it finally closed its eyes slowly.

"Dead?"

Looking at the unicorn lying motionless on the ground, the hooded figure pursuing behind showed a trace of annoyance in his voice.

That curse just now had been too powerful. Who would have thought that the renowned unicorn would be so fragile, unable to even withstand the most ordinary Impediment Jinx.

Of course, this body was also partly to blame.

Hmm? It seems to still be breathing.

After approaching the fallen unicorn and discovering its chest was still rising and falling, the hooded figure breathed a slight sigh of relief.

Good, as long as it was still alive, no matter how poor its condition.

Thinking this, he crouched on the ground like a bat, bringing his mouth close to the unicorn's wound.

This wound was still somewhat useful—at least it saved him from having to make a separate opening.

What would silver-white blood taste like?

But just as his lips were about to touch the wound, a semi-transparent radiance suddenly appeared over the little unicorn's wound.

And accompanying that radiance was an extremely cold voice.

"Reducto."

Bang!

Dark green and silver-white lights continuously flashed in the depths of the Forbidden Forest. The battle between the two wizards had completely felled the surrounding trees, turning the area into a clearing.

"Avada Kedavra!"

The hooded figure angrily recited the incantation, but the dark green light had barely appeared when the young man vanished from his spot with a silver-white flash.

The next second, a curse and a Swooping Evil attack struck from both sides simultaneously, forcing him to conjure a Shield Charm and abandon his follow-up offensive intentions.

And he had already experienced the same thing at least five times.

"Troublesome fool! You have no idea who you're opposing!"

In his angry roar, the hooded figure who had blocked the attacks cast another Killing Curse, but it was still easily dodged by Evans.

"Quirrell? Voldemort? Or some other dark wizard who smuggled into the Forbidden Forest? It doesn't matter—I don't care who you are."

Looking at the hood that concealed the face, Evans's heart held only cold killing intent.

"I only know that you hurt my friend."

"So even Dumbledore can't protect you. I said so."

As his words fell, Evans Disapparated behind the hooded figure again, sending curse after curse flying from his wand tip.

Using a Shield Charm to block those attacks, the hooded figure's eyes flickered slightly. He gripped his wand and his body began to twist.

He definitely wouldn't be able to drink this unicorn's blood today. Since that was the case, he should cut his losses in time.

But the young man didn't seem to intend to let him have his way.

"Still want to Apparate long-distance without injury?"

Seeing that twisting motion, Evans directly Disapparated forward and kicked toward the hooded figure's body.

If this person forcibly Apparated while risking splinching, he really might not be able to keep him here.

But still thinking about avoiding injury at a time like this?

Feeling the power contained in that heavy stomp, the hooded figure had to abandon his Apparition casting motion and raise his Shield Charm again.

His twisted body gradually returned to normal, and endless rage couldn't help but rise in his heart.

It was like this again—this guy again, always appearing just when he was about to succeed, disrupting all his arrangements.

Damn it!

However, although his heart was full of rage, the hooded figure knew that his current self couldn't possibly defeat the young man before him.

His current body could only barely achieve half his former level with the Killing Curse and Shield Charm, but this person's so-called Swooping Evil talent seemed to have no limitations when used—the Killing Curse simply couldn't hit.

As for other curses and dark magic, this body simply didn't meet the casting requirements. Even if forced out, the effects wouldn't be very good.

If this continued, his spirit would only gradually become exhausted, and he'd eventually be worn down to death.

Forcibly suppressing the surging rage in his heart, the hooded figure spoke in that low, hoarse voice, trying to negotiate.

"We don't need to waste time here. Let me go, and I promise never to touch the unicorn clan in the Forbidden Forest again."

He could see that the young man before him was so angry entirely because of that injured little unicorn.

"Let you go?"

Evans almost laughed in anger.

"You hurt my friend and still want to leave without paying any price?"

"Do you think that's possible?"

"You can see too that we won't be able to determine a winner anytime soon." Seeming to realize the young man before him wasn't easy to fool, the hooded figure gritted his teeth and added more stakes. "Let me go, and I can tell you some secrets about immortality!"

When he said this, his heart was extremely angry. If he weren't using such a weak body, how could he possibly be unable to defeat a wizard not even 25 years old?

However, the young man before him didn't seem to care about his latter words at all.

"Can't determine a winner? Ha?"

Hearing this, Evans finally laughed out loud.

He laughed very happily, as if he'd heard something extremely amusing.

After a while, until the hooded figure opposite grew increasingly annoyed, Evans finally suppressed his laughter.

But the corners of his mouth still curved upward slightly.

The time was about right—time to show the way.

"I admit, your Killing Curse is indeed very strong."

"If this were somewhere else, fighting you might indeed be troublesome."

"But this place is the Forbidden Forest."

As his words fell, Evans once again dodged an incoming Killing Curse, glanced at the glowing marks on his arm, and pointed his wand directly at the sky.

The next second, a bright silver light flew from his wand tip and exploded in the sky, revealing a stick figure surrounded by countless chibi-version animals.

The stick figure was drawn very crudely—you could tell the person who created this spell had no artistic talent. But the animals around him were drawn vividly, appearing lifelike even in chibi-version style.

Just as the hooded figure wondered what the young man before him had done, the entire Forbidden Forest instantly erupted.

A sharp cry came from an extremely distant place, then a soft sound exploded beside Evans.

A phoenix wreathed in flames spread its wings and charged straight at the hooded figure, its sharp beak aiming for his eyes.

At the same time, two completely different vibrations came from both sides. One was terrifyingly deep, creating several cracks in the ground each time it appeared. The other wasn't very intense, but violent explosions sounded along its path.

Tree after tree toppled as a giant beast radiating golden light appeared in view, while on the other side, a long horn flashing red light was already faintly visible.

A black wind flashed by, and a pair of bright eyes instantly appeared before the hooded figure. Just making eye contact for a moment sent intense dizziness into his mind. He endured the dizziness and raised his wand horizontally, barely managing to block the claws reaching for his face.

Sharp arrows whistled through the air, leaving ripples on his Shield Charm. The centaurs' hoofbeats were still in the distance, but their attacks had already reached the enemy.

Hoarse cries rang out in the air as skeletal horses visible only to those who had faced death gathered in groups, suspended in the air and diving down rapidly.

A group of fairies surrounded a queen obviously larger than the rest, dancing gracefully. Their beautiful dance would cause anyone who saw it to become momentarily dazed.

Several Augureys flew close, their shrill cries nearly causing one to lose their sanity.

Countless magical creatures of different species surged toward them from all directions, their various calls merging together and echoing throughout the woodland.

They showed no mercy to the intruder who had dared to harm a unicorn in their territory.

This was the Forbidden Forest.

And Evans was its friend.
