Chapter 66 - Chapter 67: The Ministry of Magic Arrives

"A unicorn's coat is pure gold before the age of two, turns silver-white after two, and they grow a horn at four. By the time they are seven, a unicorn's coat will be completely pure white, so brilliant that even freshly fallen snow appears dim in comparison."

On the grounds outside the school, Evans stood beside a small unicorn, introducing the creature to the third-year students before him.

"Their bodies can repel all filth, their tail hair is one of the best wand cores, and their horn can neutralize most toxins in this world."

"The unicorn species does not have high combat capabilities, but their speed is very fast. Even the best flying broomstick cannot catch up to an adult unicorn, unless they are injured."

After explaining the unicorn's other abilities, Evans hesitated for a moment before speaking softly.

"Finally, a unicorn's blood has the effect of extending the life of a person on the verge of death..."

After saying this and noticing the interested look in some students' eyes, Evans warned very seriously, "But the cost of this effect is extremely high. After extending your life, you will only have half a life left—a half-life that is cursed."

"Your soul will be completely corroded by the curse, and your life will be fixed in the worst state of your entire existence, enduring unimaginable pain."

"And as soon as you stop drinking the unicorn's blood, you will die. And after death, you will remain in that state until your soul is completely annihilated."

"If, at such a time, you have some strong lingering wish and become a ghost..."

Evans didn't continue, but all the young wizards couldn't help but shiver. The few students who had shown some interest earlier also lowered their heads, their little ideas long gone.

Without mentioning the blood again, Evans shared a few more small facts about unicorns before letting them move freely and try to gain the unicorn's approval.

Today was a practical class, and in his plan, the next few days would all be practical classes.

Since Kelly was staying at the magical creatures hut recently, in the spirit of not letting a resource go to waste, he planned to teach every grade about unicorns in the next few lessons.

It didn't matter if the older students had learned about unicorns before; no young wizard would refuse to see such a beautiful creature again.

Besides, teaching about unicorns meant he could slack off for a lesson.

After all, it was a practical class. The main task was observation and companionship, and the homework was also mainly based on observation and research.

If the students were all observing the unicorn, he, the teacher, could naturally slack off on the side.

Well, he still couldn't be too lazy. For future upper-year classes, he had to teach more theoretical knowledge.

He didn't want a bunch of students who couldn't pass their O.W.L.s and N.E.W.T.s in his first year of teaching.

However, for the younger students, the teaching would definitely be more relaxed.

A few minutes later, watching the little unicorn playing happily with a few girls, Evans showed a slight smile.

Today's class consisted of students from Gryffindor and Hufflepuff, and the Hufflepuff students were clearly more popular with Kelly. One boy had even won Kelly's affection.

In contrast, only a few girls from Gryffindor had gained the little unicorn's approval; the rest could only watch with envy.

Those two Weasley boys looked like they were about to drool.

However...

Looking at the pure black cloak George was wearing, which he didn't know when he had put on, a trace of suspicion flashed in Evans's eyes.

Why did this cloak look so familiar?

After another glance, Evans shook his head and didn't directly pull the little cloak off.

Since it was during class, it couldn't cause any trouble with the Weasley brothers.

He could just take it back after class.

But this Little Cloak's disguise talent was really good; he hadn't even noticed anything unusual about the cloak at first glance.

Well, those worms weren't fed for nothing.

No longer paying attention to the resentful Gryffindor students, Evans turned his gaze to the only male student who had gained the unicorn's approval.

For a unicorn to allow a male to stroke its long horn meant that this person had not a single trace of malice and had never caused any deaths.

It was normal for a young wizard of this age to have caused no deaths, but to have no malice at all was very rare.

Unicorns were very strict in judging malice in males. This malice didn't just refer to their attitude toward unicorns; even harboring resentment toward certain people could be judged as malice.

Even he, back in the day, had only managed to connect with the unicorn species through his talent.

And this was one of the reasons why those Gryffindor students couldn't gain Kelly's approval. Their feuds with Slytherin students were like love affairs, with rivals appearing in pairs, making it difficult to be completely free of malice.

Watching the Hufflepuff boy who had stroked the unicorn and then stood aside with a satisfied look on his face, Evans recalled his name.

Cedric Diggory.

The top student in the third-year theory class before Halloween, and one of the young wizards who had obtained the Heavy Stomp spell.

But he hadn't aimed for first place just for the spell; it seemed he was simply very interested in magical creatures.

Hmm, a good candidate for his magical creatures club.

But he would only form the club next year at the earliest. A course club was different from regular classes. In the club, he would have to share some more in-depth things for those young wizards who wanted to improve themselves to learn.

The young wizards who could join a professor's club were generally students who excelled in that course. Their futures would also shine in this field, and each of his club meetings could affect their future, so he had to prepare carefully.

Right now, he was sweating just preparing for classes, so he really had no energy to think about what to share in the club.

He would decide on the candidates first and think about the specific content later.

Watching Kelly and the students playing happily over there, Evans didn't disturb them but sat down on the side, took out paper and pen from his pocket, and began researching his Swooping Evil teleportation magic.

This kind of almost-finished magic was the most tormenting. It was just a little bit off, but he just couldn't complete the magical circuit.

He really didn't know how those wizards who had no references and completely researched magic on their own managed to do it.

The quill sketched one magical line after another on the parchment. Gradually, Evans became immersed in the study of magic.

More than ten minutes later...

"Headmaster Dumbledore, I must remind you, this is a very serious matter..."

"Hmm?"

His ears suddenly caught the faint sound of conversation from a distance. Evans stopped his hand, raised his head, and looked in the direction of the sound.

A group of people was walking toward them. The leaders were Dumbledore and a short, stout man. Behind that man followed a woman who looked like a toad and a dozen wizards in suits.

Seeing a few familiar figures among them, Evans narrowed his eyes slightly.

Ministry of Magic people, what were they doing at the school?
