Chapter 2 - Identity

The world was dark and quiet as the waves surged around them, pulling The Spark into a cooling embrace woven with ancient comfort. Shadows curled softly around its form, yet there was no malice in them – only a deep, tranquil warmth.

The Spark felt the Void Entity's presence all around, vast and silent like a moonless sea. For a fleeting instant, it felt weightless, suspended in that boundless darkness. It was… peaceful, but also strange. Alien and yet Familiar

Then the tide receded, carrying with it the tightness in its chest, leaving only quiet confusion behind.

When The Spark opened its eyes, it was still standing upon the pale sands of the beach, but no longer alone. Beside it stood the Void Entity, no longer confined to the reflection within the water. Its form rippled and shimmered, woven from shadow, dim light, and the silent depth between stars. It was a shape that defied meaning – its contours blurred like smoke in water, both there and not, an echo of something ancient and unbound. Twin crimson eyes glowed softly within the swirling darkness, their gaze deep as eternity.

The Spark studied it with wary curiosity, tilting its head slightly.

"…You were with me all this time ?" it asked quietly, its voice calm despite the uncertainty churning within.

The Void Entity inclined its head, shadows curling in gentle affirmation.

"I have always been there, little Light, i was hiding in your shadow, to protect you . I 'm not going to lose you again ." said the Void, its voice woven with regret and quiet determination.

The Spark felt its human heart flutter in its chest, a quick, startled rhythm that echoed through its entire being. The Void's words filled it with something it couldn't quite name – a quiet ache, sharp and unfamiliar, mingled with warmth that prickled uncomfortably against its skin.

It shifted its stance slightly, digging its toes into the cool sand as if to ground itself. The Void's presence pressed against the edges of its mind, gentle but vast, like standing before an endless sea under silent stars.

It didn't like the feeling .

The Spark's chest tightened. It felt small beneath that gaze, unbearably aware of the fragile thrum of its human body, the way its breath quickened with confusion. This was not how it was supposed to feel. It did not know why, but it understood this instinctively.

"…Don't look at me like that," it whispered, almost angrily, though its voice trembled with unease rather than malice. "I don't… I don't know you."

The Void tilted its featureless head, shadows rippling with sorrow. "I know," it murmured softly, almost to itself.

"You are not as you were. You have taken this shape, this life, and now you see me with human eyes… yet you remain my Light, even if you do not remember."

The Spark clenched its fists at its sides. It did not want to hear such words. They felt too heavy, binding it to something it could not understand. But as it stared at the Void – at the shifting darkness and those quiet crimson eyes – it felt something flicker deep within, like an old lantern guttering back to life in the dark.

An echo of belonging.

It swallowed, throat tight. "I… I don't know you," it repeated, voice softer this time, tinged with quiet confusion. "But I... somehow i know you're not lying."

For a long moment, neither moved. The surf whispered around them, washing over their footprints before falling silent once more.

The Void did not reach out again. It merely inclined its head, shadows curling around it like a silent, patient promise.

"Then let us begin anew, little Light," it said, its voice carrying a tender gravity.

"This world is vast, and your path will be long. Walk beside me, as you once did, and when you are ready… you will remember."

The Spark felt its chest tighten at those words – part fear, part reluctant hope. It did not understand what it was or why it was here. But it could not deny the faint thread of connection that pulsed between itself and the Void, woven deeper than memory.

With a shivering breath, The Spark took a cautious step forward, sand cool beneath its feet, but just as quickly backed away from its approaching companion.

The Spark shook its head slowly, refusing the title that felt so distant now.

"No… Light is what I was. But that life… it's gone, isn't it?" Its voice trembled with quiet conviction. "Even so… a human heart remains within me. Whoever I was… I want it back. I want them back."

Its gaze lifted towards the Void Entity, eyes wide with confusion and defiance.

"Give me my memories. Please… give me back who I was."

The Void stood silent, as silent as the spaces between stars, its form flickering with shadows that no dawn could ever touch. For a long moment, it did not answer. Only the hush of waves spoke between them.

Then, at last, it sighed – a sound like distant thunder rolling beneath an endless sea.

"…It can be done" , it said, its voice ancient and resigned. "But not by myself."

The Spark blinked, confusion sparking like flint in its chest. "What do you mean…?"

The Void Entity gazed upon it with eyes that glowed crimson and sorrowful.

"When I tried to restore you before… you resisted. Even unconscious, your desire to remain human shattered our bond. Your memories… they are not sealed away. They were erased. The only fragments that remain are the ones I salvaged… within myself."

Its swirling form shifted closer, shadows flickering across the Spark's pale face.

"In order to return what I hold… we must merge once more."

The Spark took a step back, feeling its pulse quicken with unease. "Merge…?"

"Yes." The Void's voice deepened, vibrating with regret.

"But you must understand. We are not of the same nature. You are the spark of the light of creation… and I am the endless abyss from which all things return. To merge… would tear apart this human vessel you inhabit."

The Spark clenched its hands, feeling a faint tremor in its chest. "Then… it's impossible?"

A flicker of something like amusement passed through the Void's glowing eyes, though it was tinted with sorrow.

"Not impossible. But… I must remain within your vessel. Suppressed. Dormant. Only until you master your powers once again, Light. When that day comes, you can forge a vessel strong enough to contain us both. Until then… I will sleep within you, and you shall never be without me."

Silence fell once more between them. The sea murmured, and a faint breeze stirred the Spark's hair. It felt discomfort coil within its chest – a human feeling, tinged with something far older. The thought of carrying this unfathomable entity within itself brought a strange shiver to its heart.

And yet… it could not deny the truth woven between their souls. It could not deny their bond.

Slowly, The Spark exhaled, gazing down at its trembling hands. "If… if that is what it takes to remember who I was… then… do it."

The Void Entity gazed upon it with an unreadable expression – sorrow, pride, and love all entwined in the fathomless darkness of its form.

"Very well," it whispered, its voice rolling across the waves like an ancient vow. "Prepare yourself… my Light."

And as it stepped forward, the shadows coiled around the Spark like a quiet storm, and the dawn paused on the horizon to witness the union of void and light once more.
