Chapter 49 - Chapter 49: The Mistresses of War – Part 1

Feraliss began to roar insanely upon seeing his hand being torn off.

Thunder started crackling around him as he charged toward me.

— RAWWWW!

His roar echoed, throwing me backward, and he appeared right in front of me, unleashing heavy punches in my direction.

He began punching me intensely—each blow seemed to unleash infinite explosions of thunder and flames.

Without giving me space to breathe, the blood butterfly created a scarlet dome around me.

With no chance to escape, following Feraliss's movement, the Minotaur struck me heavily with his axe.

Using my rapier, I advanced toward the Minotaur while casting spells at Feraliss.

A spiral of water covered my body—defending me from him.

Whenever he attacked, the barrier redirected the impact back at his own body, giving me time to land countless blows on the Minotaur.

Since he was slow, it was hard for him to dodge. However, his body stood out for its strength and defense.

Even attacking nonstop, I couldn't land truly fatal moves.

Xiiiin.

A slash tore through the sky, and a blood arrow struck my arm, causing a deep wound.

Trapped beneath the blood dome, I was pinned.

But I would not fall before these beasts. Do they think they can kill me?

I thought, shifting into my Count form.

The Vitae surged wildly through my body, and my wings spread wide.

A blood armor covered my 3rd-level armor.

My hair no longer turned into water this time… but ice.

A hurricane began swirling around me, and the humidity in the air was drawn toward me.

Two rapiers formed in my hands, and I began to attack violently.

Each strike pushed the beasts back.

The blood dome started to tremble.

The thunder seemed to shatter.

Only sparks remained from the flames.

The earth trembled.

Everything was at the mercy of my blows.

My focus turned to Feraliss.

Advancing with both swords, I broke his sequence of punches—the ice rapier cut, and the blood one repelled.

The beast was being suppressed.

Being a lower 3rd-degree beast, it only qualified for this battlefield due to its brute strength.

But its resistance, Vitae reserve, and other attributes were inferior.

When pressured, it became disadvantaged.

But, of course, it did not give up—thunder and flames advanced at me but collided against the aquatic spiral barrier.

I was slow.

A huge axe fell upon my head, pressing down on my mind and the world.

Numerous lightning and flame attacks followed swiftly, leaving me no time to breathe.

— Not today.

Channeling my wind element, the hurricane around me expanded, sweeping all attacks away.

In a swift motion, I advanced and thrust my rapier into the Minotaur's knee, shattering its leg and causing it to collapse to the ground, roaring in pain.

Crack.

Lightning attacks reached me—but were returned by the spiral.

My eyes quickly searched for the butterfly.

That troublesome pest had to die.

It hid at the edge of the dome.

Without hesitation, I shot forward like a bullet.

Channeling Vitae into my rapier, I thrust at its right wing, which flapped slowly, trying to camouflage.

The rapier struck with full force.

A loud noise echoed—the red butterfly was thrown far away, and its nasty bony wing was sent to another corner.

Chiiiiii.

It screeched in pain as it fell, and the blood dome shattered.

Without stopping, I advanced toward the Minotaur, roaring in pain with its destroyed knee.

Using both rapiers, I began to harass it, giving no room for counterattacks.

The blades sliced its skin countless times—blood splattered.

Crack, crack.

Feraliss charged at me, roaring.

Balls of thunder surrounded me, but I destroyed them instantly.

If it wanted to fight, then I would destroy it.

Advancing toward it, I began attacking with the rapier.

The beast was again being suppressed.

With the butterfly and Minotaur temporarily incapacitated, I could handle only him.

Looks like it's just you and me, beast.

POV: Selena

In the sky, the false Dullahan, in his new form, advanced toward me.

His gigantic sword sliced the air violently.

His strength had increased in several aspects.

This Kurn was probably a beast similar to that Gargoyle Flávia faced but a sub-level lower.

Without much thought, I retreated and transformed into my Count form.

The Vitae poured over my body.

My hair took on the color of crackling golden flames.

A golden fire armor covered me.

A red fire engulfed my sword.

My wings expanded.

Lightning began to spark around me.

As Kurn charged at me, I pointed two fingers, and a thunder-flame arrow tore through the air toward him.

Crack!

The arrow struck him—it seemed it would pierce his abyssal armor but exploded before doing so.

The thunder-flame created a ripple over that strange abyssal shadow under his body.

— What a strange being… — I thought.

Still flying, I raised my hand.

All insufficient thunder mastery faded, transforming into more golden flames.

I crossed my fingers.

A condensed golden flame took the form of a phoenix, which fiercely charged at Kurn.

BOOM!

An explosion roared.

But midway through the transformation, Kurn advanced even more enraged.

What a strange being...

He seemed not to feel pain.

My attacks had no effect.

At first, I thought the illusory butterfly and the sub-dragon were the most problematic…

But this Kurn…

How do I kill him?

Actually, is it even possible to kill him?

All attacks seemed to pass through him… or had no effect.

At most, they created ripples on his living armor.

Confused, I decided to bet on the sure thing.

The Vitae took an ethereal form, and mist began to be expelled from my body.

In a short time, the mist covered me—and the other three beasts as well.

In the distance, I saw sparks appearing from time to time.

These explosions caused flashes in the mist, revealing the locations of the beasts.

Holding my sword, I decided to advance against the illusory butterfly.

Pouring Vitae onto my blade, I reached it quickly.

I used various strikes:

Diagonal, horizontal, vertical cuts, thrusts, flanks, upward attacks.

All aimed at the cursed creature.

Besides that, I channeled my sword's intention to make the strikes heavier.

Channeling Vitae, Nex, and the sword's intention, together with my fire mastery…

I performed a vertical cut toward the butterfly's wing.

> True Intention Sword.

This is one of my signature moves.

The blade's intention tore through space and flew toward the creature's wing.

Swish.

The strike hit squarely—cutting the wing and everything behind it.

The mist was completely thrown upward.

Hiiiiii!

The unfortunate butterfly's scream echoed throughout the battlefield.

Illusions tried to form but failed under that sinister sword intention still coursing through its body.

Under the weak beats of its wings, the illusory butterfly gave its last breath.

— That's one down, I thought, smiling.
