Chapter 4 - [4]. Daily Training and Hunting

Half a year had passed.

On the forest-covered planet Mumu, birds soared in the sky while animals gathered peacefully at the lakeside to drink. The scenery was serene and tranquil.

On this particular day, two long-tailed streaks of light tore through the sky, like falling stars. Combined with the peaceful landscape, it was like a living painting.

But those two "shooting stars" weren't just for show—

They were heading straight for the forest below.

BOOM—!

Two spherical space pods slammed into the ground, carving out deep craters as powerful shock waves rippled outward, kicking up dust and flinging debris in all directions.

With a mechanical hiss, the pod doors slid open.

Two small figures climbed out—Kaso and Ausbi'er.

Kaso was the first to leap from the pod, landing gracefully on a rocky slope.

"Ack! Kaso-gege!"

Ausbi'er jumped up from her crater and hurried over, leaping onto Kaso like a koala and hugging him tightly.

Clearly, the unfamiliar environment made her nervous. Only in her big brother Kaso's arms did she feel safe.

"Don't worry. We've arrived on Planet Mumu."

Kaso cradled Ausbi'er with one hand under her bottom and gently stroked her soft hair with the other. He loved holding this little porcelain doll of a girl—especially now that she'd gained a bit of weight. Her whole body was soft and warm, like a cuddly plush toy.

"We're finally off Planet Vegeta..."

A weight lifted from Kaso's chest. At last, he no longer had to worry about Frieza blowing up the planet while he slept.

In the Dragon Ball anime, Planet Vegeta was destroyed for a couple of reasons. One was the Frost Demon race fearing the rise of a Super Saiyan among the Saiyans. But in truth, the main reason was the order from the God of Destruction—Beerus.

For some unknown reason, Beerus had instructed Frieza to wipe out the Saiyan race.

Someone on Beerus's level was still far too distant a threat for Kaso to even think about.

He needed to grow steadily—one step at a time.

They strolled through the forest for a while.

"Kaso-gege, this planet is so beautiful!"

Ausbi'er twirled around, looking this way and that with wide-eyed wonder.

She danced on tiptoes, completely enchanted by the vibrant surroundings. Her fear and nervousness had already been thrown to the wind.

Watching her march around like a proud little general, Kaso couldn't help but laugh.

Wasn't she just terrified a few minutes ago?

"Well... I have to admit, this planet really is beautiful."

Kaso began exploring seriously.

Planet Mumu was 50% forest and 20% ocean. A stunning, eco-rich world.

The main threats here were a few high-level wild beasts that hadn't been tamed.

Their mission was simple: eliminate those beasts and the task would be complete.

Bardock had chosen this planet specifically, in case anything unexpected happened.

There was even a moon nearby—if things got out of hand, they could always go Great Ape mode and multiply their power by ten. Against wild beasts with a power level of 800 or so, that would be overkill.

Of course, Bardock didn't mention that part to them.

Kaso led Ausbi'er to a mountain slope and raised his hand. A faint blue glow flickered at his fingertip, and with a soft pop, a ping-pong-ball-sized ki blast shot out.

Boom!

A three-meter-wide hole opened in the mountain.

After a bit of cleanup, this would be their new home.

Time slipped by.

One day, beside the lake at the foot of the mountain, golden sunlight danced on the water. Fish leapt from the surface, and birds dove swiftly, snatching their meals in one graceful motion.

Suddenly, the water began to ripple violently.

A massive, moving mound appeared near the shore—ten meters tall and six meters wide.

Every step the mound took made the ground tremble.

And beneath it, a tiny figure—Kaso.

After reaching a flat spot, he flung the mound to the side.

BOOM!

The earth shook violently.

Kaso collapsed onto the ground, drenched in sweat, gasping for air.

He'd completely exhausted himself with today's hellish training.

But it wasn't for nothing.

He could feel a strange, potent force bubbling deep within his body—like a dried-up spring that had suddenly begun to surge again.

"Earth's training methods really do work!"

He lay flat on the ground, catching his breath.

This kind of training still worked for his current level, but once his power exceeded 1,000, its effectiveness would drop sharply. To continue progressing, he'd eventually need a gravity chamber.

Suddenly, more tremors approached from behind.

Kaso looked back and saw Ausbi'er struggling toward him, also carrying a smaller mound—about seven meters high and five meters wide.

She dropped the load and gave him a pouty glare.

"Kaso-gege! You didn't wait for me!"

"I'm waiting right here, aren't I?" Kaso laughed.

It had been over a month since they landed on Planet Mumu.

Following the methods Master Roshi used to train Kid Goku, Kaso had them swimming across lakes, digging fields, running from wild beasts, and carrying boulders on their backs.

Both of them were Elite Saiyans, with no shortage of potential.

Kaso's power level had risen from 350 to 500, and Ausbi'er's had grown from just over 100 to 300—a nearly threefold increase.

Her natural talent was surprisingly good.

In fact, Kaso's own improvements had started to slow down by comparison.

His big jump in power still mostly came from that near-death beating by Nappa.

"Bii'er, it's been over a month. Do you miss home?"

Kaso hugged her from behind.

Though she was also dripping with sweat, she didn't have any unpleasant smell at all. On the contrary, she gave off a faint, sweet fragrance—like morning dew on fresh grass.

"Mm… I kind of miss Auntie Gine and Uncle Bardock," she murmured.

She didn't seem to mind Kaso's sweat. They stayed close, clinging to each other.

"Kaso-gege, once we finish the mission, let's go back to Planet Vegeta, okay? With our current strength, I bet we could take revenge on Nappa!"

A fierce glint flashed in Ausbi'er's eyes.

"Go back? No… we can't go back yet." Kaso shook his head.

He didn't tell her the truth—that Nappa was already dead.

"Why not?" she asked, puzzled.

"You've heard of Frieza, haven't you?"

"Yeah, of course. We Saiyans have served him for years."

"He's the emperor of the universe—unbelievably powerful and cruel.

In about a year and a half, he'll destroy our entire race."

Kaso knew that unless he became a Super Saiyan, there was no way to fight Frieza head-on.

"W-what? But… we've always been loyal…"

Ausbi'er's eyes widened in disbelief.

"I can feel it. A growing sense of danger.

You have to trust me."

He held her shoulders and rested his forehead against hers, his voice solemn.

"Mm… I trust you, Kaso-gege."

She was still a little confused, but her trust in him was absolute.

Now understanding the gravity of the situation, her carefree smile faded, replaced by a worried expression.

The two held each other for a long moment—

until a growling sound came from Ausbi'er's stomach.

"Gurgle, gurgle…"

Blushing, she buried her face against Kaso's chest.

"My little princess is hungry, huh? Come on, let's take a bath and go hunt something."

Kaso chuckled and patted her head.

Truth be told, after all that training, he was starving too.

They bathed together in the lake.

Suddenly, a bestial roar echoed from the distance.

They looked at each other.

Right on cue—dinner had arrived.

Their bodies burst with white energy as they launched into the sky like bullets. Within seconds, only two glowing white dots remained in the sky.

Roar! Roar!

Two massive tigers stood face to face, their appearance resembling prehistoric sabertooths.

Their muscles tensed, and they exchanged low growls in a tense standoff.

"Kaso-gege, one each! I'll take the smaller one!"

Before Kaso could reply, Ausbi'er darted toward her target.

He folded his arms in midair, shaking his head with a smile.

She was so reckless sometimes.

The two tigers weren't all that different in size—each as big as an elephant.

Sensing danger, the beasts turned and roared at their attackers.

"Take this!"

Ausbi'er stopped midair, cupped her hands, and focused.

A pinpoint of blue energy gathered between her palms, glowing like a sapphire under sunlight.

In an instant, the orb expanded to the size of a fist.

She thrust it forward.

The blast streaked through the air like lightning—but the tiger dodged.

Boom!

The explosion shattered trees and flung dust into the sky.

"Ugh! I missed!"

Gritting her teeth, Ausbi'er darted back in.

While the tiger was still disoriented, she slipped to its side, twisted her hips, and launched a powerful kick.

Crash!

The tiger slammed into the trees, knocking over several as it skidded back.

Roar!

It rose again, shaking its head and snarling. Its jaws opened wide, revealing rows of sharp, glinting teeth.

Digging its claws into the earth, it lunged forward, tearing up soil and stone.

Ausbi'er sprang back into the air. "Heh, you can't reach me!"

The beast roared in frustration, unable to hit its airborne opponent.

"Bii'er, quit messing around and finish it already. We're going home," Kaso called.

With a flick of his finger, he fired a blast that instantly vaporized the other tiger.

"Okay! One second!"

Ausbi'er channeled all her strength into a basketball-sized energy sphere.

The tiger, sensing the danger, turned and tried to flee.

Too late.

Boom!

The explosion obliterated the creature, leaving nothing behind.

Smoke cleared—no tiger in sight.

It had been reduced to ash.

Kaso floated down and sighed. "Well, guess we can't eat that one…"

So much for being the smaller one.

Ausbi'er stuck out her tongue in embarrassment.

"Let's go. I'm starving."

Kaso grabbed the remaining tiger and, with Ausbi'er at his side, flew back toward their mountain cave.
