Chapter 67 - [67]. The Battle for Senzu Beans

"Kami, we've got something else to take care of. We'll be heading out now," Kaso said calmly.

He had only come to Earth for one reason: to enter the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. Though an unexpected encounter with Beerus had delayed things, it also helped resolve the Saiyans' biggest existential threat.

Now that both tasks were complete, it was time to return to Planet Sadala.

"Very well. Until next time," Kami nodded.

Thanks to his influence, martial arts on Earth had begun to flourish again. In time, there would surely be new talents rising from among its people.

Kaso took Ausbi'er and left the Heavenly Realm, heading straight for a convenience store in West City.

"Kaso-nii, why are you buying so much… instant noodles?" Ausbi'er blinked in confusion.

"You'll see soon enough," Kaso said mysteriously.

He didn't bother explaining. These instant noodles were part of his contingency plan.

As he swept items off the shelves, he didn't discriminate—he grabbed every brand and flavor, except for one in particular. When he came across a pickled cabbage-flavored noodle brand, he paused, frowned, and then skipped it entirely.

"…That one's a no."

"Alright, that should do it."

By the time he left the shop, nearly all the instant noodles were gone—all sealed in Universal Capsules.

Outside, Kaso let out a breath of relief. Thankfully, Bulma's black card still had more than enough funds—probably enough for a lifetime.

Indeed, soft rice is the most delicious kind.

(A Chinese slang joke—meaning living off a woman's resources.)

"Let's go."

The two disappeared into thin air.

Planet Sadala.

As time passed, the Saiyans had grown even stronger. Bardock had reorganized them into ten teams, each led by a squad captain. Bardock and Kaso oversaw all captains directly.

No one objected to Kaso holding authority. In fact, the Saiyans welcomed it.

That day, the central training arena was packed.

Half the spectators were Saiyans, and the other half were Lolita Clan members. Philiya sat among them.

Bardock looked down at the list in his hands and called out, "Next match: Team Chris vs. Team Kast."

Due to the limited output of Senzu Beans—only 80 per month—40 had to be reserved for cultivation, and of the remaining 40, a portion needed to be kept in reserve.

Meaning: not enough beans to go around.

So Kaso proposed a solution: let the teams battle for them.

The higher a team ranked, the more Senzu Beans they received. Since they were earned by strength, no one could complain.

Bardock approved wholeheartedly. With this method, the Saiyans now had pressure.

And when a Saiyan is under pressure… scary things happen.

Just like in the Namek arc, when Vegeta couldn't accept that a low-class warrior like Goku had become a Super Saiyan while he, a proud prince, couldn't. That shame drove him to awaken as a Super Saiyan within a year.

The arena was massive—10,000 square meters in size.

Thirty Saiyans stood within.

Kast sneered. "Chris, just give up."

Thanks to the scouters developed by the Lolita Clan a year ago, Kast knew Chris's power level was around 70,000, with most of his teammates at 40,000.

As for him? 80,000.

How could Chris possibly win?

"Give up?"

Chris curled his lip. In the Saiyan dictionary, "surrender" didn't exist.

Even if defeat was certain—they would never back down.

Besides, he didn't believe it was a sure loss.

"Let's go, then."

With Kast's shout, the atmosphere in the arena tensed instantly.

The battle was about to explode.

Just then—

Two small figures appeared beside Philiya's seat at the arena edge.

"Oh?"

Seeing the match, Kaso was surprised. Back when the Senzu Beans first matured, he had already proposed the battle system—but he didn't expect to return just in time to see it in action.

Perfect. Time to watch.

In the arena, Kast immediately charged at Chris. The others spread out, pairing off with opponents.

Thirty Saiyans exploded with energy at once.

White auras erupted, swirling like flames and winds, shaking the very atmosphere. Even Kaso's hair was blown straight up from the shockwave.

"Oi, girlie. What match is this?" Kaso asked, cradling Ausbi'er as he sat next to Philiya.

"Second-to-last," Philiya replied calmly.

She was already used to Kaso popping up out of nowhere. He'd even appeared while she was bathing once—this "sneaky brat" was full of surprises.

"That means Team Garis already advanced," Kaso said with a squint.

Among the Saiyans, aside from Bardock, Garis was the strongest—with a power level of 90,000. None of the other team leaders could match him.

"Yeah," Philiya nodded, then frowned. "But Garis is too strong. Isn't it unfair to the others?"

Philiya had already experienced what a Senzu Bean could do. Pair that with Saiyan physiology, and the results were terrifying.

She worried this battle system would only let the strong get stronger.

Unfair?

Kaso smiled faintly. The world had never been fair.

And without pressure, where would motivation come from?

Since Kaso didn't respond, Philiya didn't push the issue. It was, after all, an internal matter of his people. If even he didn't care, why should she?

Better to save that mental energy for figuring out how Universal Capsules work.

Thinking of that, Philiya shot a glare at Kaso.

"Look!"

Kaso didn't notice her expression and pointed toward the arena.

More than half the participants had already been knocked out—but Kaso knew the real fight was just beginning.

A dozen intense auras burst forth again.

Hurricane-force gales swept the arena, shattering the ground and turning stone to dust.

Kast soared into the sky, hands cupped together as he gathered energy into a glowing sphere.

"Chris, take this!!"

The ferocious energy blast streaked toward Chris like a shooting star.

"Get out of there!!"

Saiyans on the ground immediately took flight, knowing full well—getting hit by that attack would mean weeks in bed.

"I can't block it—but that doesn't mean I can't dodge!"

Chris clenched his teeth.

He knew he wasn't likely to defeat Kast—an 8,000-point power gap wasn't small, but it wasn't overwhelming either.

And Kast wanted to win just by that difference?

Not a chance!

BOOM!!

Chris narrowly dodged. The energy blast crashed into the arena, detonating in a thunderous explosion.

The battlefield was ripped to shreds. Smoke and debris filled the air. Even the Saiyans in the sky were cloaked in dust.

Watching the chaos, Kaso smiled faintly.

"Chris is going to lose."

Philiya frowned. "But he dodged the attack. Why would he lose?"

"Just keep watching," Kaso said calmly.
