Chapter 9 - chapter nine

It was already 11:45am and I'm sure the major stuffs has been discussed already but I went to the meeting anyways. I wanted to do the dramatic barging in but the door was too heavy that I couldn't push it. It was Mr Adams who later opened it for me.

Regardless of it, I couldn't let my aura diminish one bit.

I stepped into the room boldly and all eyes turned on me, I didn't mind it a bit. I might be twenty but I've been twenty four.

After a brief introduction and accepting their hypocritical condolences, I walked boldly to the chair the board chairman was supposed to sit on and ask the man sitter there – Mr Bailey to excuse me.

That was even the murmur started.

I heard them talk about how disrespectful I'm being but do I even care? I stood firm on my words, and when he showed no sign of wanting to move, Mr Adam stepped in.

He kindly reminded him that I now own 52.3% of the company shares while he only has 7.9%.

He respected himself, stood up and signaled to someone to help him bring another seat which was placed not too far from me.

Mr. Bailey, although very arrogant was just a big pushover. He's one of those people who believes that are wish but can be easily influenced by others.

Although he believes he's the one in control, he's just under the influence of Mr Kennedy who I believe is the greatest sly of all time.

Why you may ask me… because at the end of the day, in the dream he gained the most. He became the chairman, I found out the McKinley works for him, and even became the major shareholder. And he has just 3.58% presently.

"Good morning everyone, I thank you all for your condolences. As much as I would like to have been here earlier I was unable to due to some circumstances. As you all know – if you didn't you know now – that I am the major shareholder and by right should be the chairman. Which I will be. I doubt there's a need for voting over that. I'm here today to make some decisions and I'd like you all to listen attentively. Firstly, I'd like to appoint my Mr Adam as the CEO of this organization. Secondly_"

"What do you mean by that."

"Isn't he just a secretary?!"

"As expected, she thinks running a company is child's play."

"She wants to bring down all that her mother had worked for."

"Who knows if she killed her family just to take over it all."

That did it. I snapped.

"You can say all you want about me but never you at or insinuate that I killed my family. I'd like to let you off this time as a warning. The next time such a thing happens, I don't care about who says it or whether or not you mean it as a joke, I will bring forth your downfall. That is a promise."

"Ma'am they don't mean it that way. They're just expressing their concerns. Even I, your mother's assistant wouldn't dare think of becoming the CEO not to talk of the secretary. We know you're young that's why we're trying to advice you." The assistant that I'd tried to call earlier on said.

"Linda…"

"Yes.."

"Who are you assisting? What exactly are you doing in this room, sitted amidst the board members?"

"I'm… I was your mother's assistant."

"Yes, but not a board member. The key word here is the verb you used… 'was'. So, what are you here for?"

"That she's late doesn't mean I'm fired. I'll be the next chairman's assistant."

"Yes. And that's me. However… you didn't do you job well so you're fired."

"But I haven't even started yet!" She exclaimed.

"I call you two times earlier, why didn't you pick my call."

"You shouldn't get angry over that. I was at the meeting and _"

"Leave before I have someone remove you."

I'd be damned if I allow her stay in the company.

"Let us continue." I said after she left the room.

"Regardless of her status in the company, what she said was still right. You barely have _ you don't have any experience with running a company and here you are. The fact that you are the chairman doesn't mean you are allowed to make hasty decisions. If you want to appoint someone as the CEO, you should at least make them go through due process and procedures. You can't just decide on your own." One of the shareholders voiced.

"Are you all done?"

"Yes… I suppose?" Answered another.

"Good. Now let me continue. Mr Adam's here has a phd. In environmental science and management, a masters degree in waste management and recycling another masters degree in environmental sustainability and a bachelor's degree in environmental engineering. Why did he work with my mom as a secretary upon all these qualifications you may ask… and that is because she was his role model and he wanted to assist her in all ways he can. I'd interviewed him and I know he's best for the job."

"But having all those qualifications doesn't mean me can manage a company. There's a difference between theory and reality." The sly goat, Kennedy argued.

"I know. However, I trust him regardless."

"You don't expect us to just put everything in line just because you trust him right?"

"Are you guys just trying to stress me? Let's do it like this then. Give me 2 years and you'll see the results."

"Two years?! Then make the company go into bankruptcy?"

"Exactly, that's too much."

"Who are we going to deal with the loses pending the time?"

"Who knows if this is just a scheme for her to embezzle?"

"Can you all just be mature and speak on after the other? Since two years is too much for you guys… it is a year then. I don't want any complaints and anything. Any lose will be shouldered by me. If any of you now decides to use this as an opportunity to tamper with whichever project we go into with the aim of bringing me down, I better know the person. If I do… you'll wish you were never in this company in the first place."

"What project are you planning on?" Asked Kennedy

"I would have told you but you lost the opportunity to hear about it. Mr adam, let's go. I have a lot of things to discuss with you."

We that I left the boardroom with Mr Adam right behind me. Off into my mom's office we went.
