Because within the range of his Observation Haki, he had already detected that the Kirin-arm Kaido, first seen in the initial cultivation pod, was silently closing in on him from behind.
The grotesque devouring act by the Slime Kaido, swallowing the woman alive, was merely a distraction—a ploy to divert his attention.
Kirin-arm Kaido's legs were just as abnormally muscular as his misshapen arm. Each time they struck the ground, the muscles bulged to the extreme, generating immense force to propel his nearly 10-meter-tall body rapidly toward Roya.
And yet, despite the force, his footsteps made no sound, as light as falling feathers—clearly a sign of high-level mastery in physical combat techniques.
In an instant, Kirin-arm Kaido was already behind Roya, his massive kirin arm raised high, clawing down toward Roya's head.
Roya, curious to test the actual strength of these bio-weapons, didn't activate his Observation Haki. Instead, he casually lifted his arm to block the attack.
Almost simultaneously, he struck the five massive fingers—each as thick as his own arm—one punch per finger.
The result: bones shattered, tendons snapped.
Kirin-arm Kaido let out a muffled grunt, but completely ignored his broken fingers, converting his claw strike into a hammering punch, continuing the attack with relentless aggression.
Indeed, they were bio-weapons—programmed solely to kill.
Roya frowned slightly, changed his fist into a claw, gripped one of Kaido's broken fingers, and with a light flick, swung his entire hulking body over his shoulder.
The arc brought Kirin-arm Kaido crashing down—slamming directly into Slime Kaido.
Slime Kaido, clearly nothing more than a creature driven by devouring instincts, wasn't satisfied even after swallowing the woman.
The moment he was struck by the thrown Kirin-arm Kaido, his first reaction was to open his gaping, one-meter-wide mouth and bite down on Kirin-arm Kaido's thick thigh.
With a crunch, he devoured half the leg in one bite!
Kirin-arm Kaido roared in rage and brought his fist crashing down on the enemy beneath him.
A blow strong enough to split mountains and shatter stone landed on Slime Kaido—only to sink into the sludge with nothing more than a few ripples. No effective damage whatsoever.
Instead, the strike only fueled Slime Kaido's ferocity. His massive dragon claw gripped Kirin-arm Kaido's head like a watermelon, squeezing with terrifying force.
A horrifying crunch followed—Kirin-arm Kaido's skull twisted and deformed, his body went limp, utterly defeated.
Slime Kaido lifted him high, his two massive legs dangling like noodles, then opened his mouth and began to devour him whole.
"Heh… My naughtiest little darling is in quite the mood today."
A sultry female voice echoed from all directions.
Roya swept the area with Observation Haki and found the same woman from before—now standing in an observation room one level up, watching the scene through Surveillance Den Den Mushi.
There was no mistaking it: the woman had been eaten by Slime Kaido earlier.
Which meant… these "female researchers" were likely clone bodies—disposable shells created by Vegapunk.
While analyzing, Roya suddenly spun around—
A spinning kick launched behind him to intercept the ambush of three-armed Charlotte Linlin.
The kick utilized Rankyaku principles—compressing the air to a razor edge.
All three of Linlin's thick arms were blown clean off.
But the grotesque Linlin didn't seem to care. She gave a twisted grin and lunged forward, her bloated stomach thrusting out to slam into Roya.
Her body was so obese that the wounds where her arms were severed didn't bleed—but oozed fat instead.
Absolutely disgusting.
Roya refused to waste time on such revolting opponents. With a flash, he sidestepped—
Causing the armless Linlin to crash directly into Slime Kaido's arms.
As expected, Slime Kaido didn't mind at all, happily receiving her. His slime extended, wrapping up half her body in an instant.
At that moment, the oversized infant-headed Shanks clone finally made his grand appearance.
His body looked like an overinflated beach ball with four stubby limbs stuck into it. He could only roll along the ground toward Roya.
Frankly, this particular bio-weapon was just pathetic.
Before Roya could even lift a finger, it rolled right into Slime Kaido's body.
The woman's voice echoed again:
"Lord Roya, I'm truly sorry. These darlings must've disappointed you."
"They're actually failed prototypes, long since abandoned. I had just completed another experiment recently, so these ones were scheduled for destruction anyway."
"But when you suddenly appeared, Lord Roya… I had a whimsical thought: What would happen if I used your energy properties to fuse all my little darlings together?"
Before her words had even finished, Roya sensed a dramatic shift—
Several thick pipes shot up from the floor beneath Slime Kaido and pierced directly into his body.
The black mountain's life force from the lower levels was now being injected wildly, as if it were free.
Simultaneously, a hole opened in the ceiling above him.
With a sweep of his massive claw, Slime Kaido tossed aside the half-eaten Kirin-arm Kaido.
From the ceiling, a metal canister dropped—landing squarely into his mouth.
Roya, sensing the familiar energy inside, made no move. He chose to observe quietly.
Inside the canister—was Blackbeard.
But this was no longer the Blackbeard they knew.
He had been cut into pieces, with only a torso remaining—kept barely alive by the diluted fluid drawn from the black mountain.
Roya understood immediately—
Vegapunk had already extracted enough genetic samples from Blackbeard. But he couldn't decipher the energy sphere Roya had planted inside his body.
So now, he was resorting to this extreme and desperate measure—a last-ditch "surprise."
Within seconds, Slime Kaido's digestive fluids had corroded the metal canister completely.
Blackbeard's already mutilated body was no match for that acidic power and instantly dissolved into a pool of sludge.
And at that very moment—
The energy sphere hidden in his chest lost balance.
A powerful explosion detonated within Slime Kaido's stomach.
But just as Roya had once explained to Ace—
This explosion wasn't an outward shockwave—but an implosive force. A black hole that devours everything.
Slime Kaido's body was immediately sucked halfway into the black hole.
The half-eaten Kirin-arm Kaido, armless Linlin, and baby-headed Shanks stood no chance.
They were all dragged in and devoured by the collapsing singularity.
