Chapter 19 - theme park 1

Only twelve hours left before going to the amusement park, and I can't sleep. Why am I this nervous? Ugh, this feels like that day I tried to confess to her—I was just as restless back then… I couldn't sleep from the anxiety.

But I'm not who I was. Or after thinking… no, I'm still me. I haven't changed. And that's bad, because that day is approaching… the day I'll confess to Rin.

I tried hard to sleep, but couldn't. I put on my clothes and got ready. When I looked in the mirror, I saw I looked like a dead fish!

And I won't allow that! The only way to wake up properly… is an ice bath.

I showered and came out, and my face no longer looked like a dead fish—it looked like a literal nutcracker machine.

I went to wait for Park because he was supposed to come, and we waited in front of the amusement park.

We heard a voice calling us… it was Rin and Misaki.

When I looked at Rin, I saw she was wearing the same outfit she had on the first time I confessed to her.

When I saw that, I fell silent and just smiled… until I found Park hit me on the head.

And Misaki, as usual, calls me "pervert."

I'm sick of hearing that.

We entered the amusement park — it was really huge.

Rin said that trying out all the rides would take the whole day, so we needed to hurry.

My goal was to make sure Rin enjoyed every ride, and also to reconcile with Misaki… so I could return.

Ordinary people start with gentle rides, but Rin was all fired up from the start!

And where did we end up? Yes—on the world's fastest roller coaster!

You're asking: Where am I? I'm on the edge of a collap-seeeee! Help me!

After we got off, I couldn't stand for several minutes, hearing Misaki's quiet laughter at me.

Ah, and no need to worry—everyone was laughing.

As we sat together, we heard someone calling us. It was John, Constantine, Yuan, and Eri.

I was glad to see them all… except Eri. Not because of her previous "crimes" against me, but because she had another prank up her sleeve. How? Let me tell you:

Eri sat next to me as if she was checking on me. Then suddenly she shoved me into the fountain on the pretext of "removing dizziness"!

Then, while I was drying my clothes—after I'd partially dried them—she dunked me again, claiming I was the one who fell!

You think: Did I survive? No! Because she became the TARGET in the dart game. How?

I convinced the vendor that Eri and I were lovers, and wanted her to stand in the target position so that I could get hit—and paid him for it.

Now she was the target.

One hit would be enough. One hit… and I'd take revenge for everything she did to me. Hahaha!

**Eri said, "Are you gonna shoot or not?"

I replied, "Of course! Choose any target you want."

When she chose, I threw the dart. What happened?

It hit the board—and missed her… because she ducked!

And the result? I lost my money. Fairness in this world?

Next, we tried the Ferris wheel ride. Each pair chose a partner.

Joyful news: I got Rin!

Misaki with John, Yuan with Constantine.

Eri said she had something to do.

Honestly, I'm not comfortable with that—but since she was far away… thank goodness for distance!

We all boarded and moved.

At first the wheel rotated once, then twice—and on the third turn it paused for three minutes so each passenger could admire the view.

When it was our turn, Rin looked around the park—and she was truly happy.

Seeing her like that erased all my worries... as if she wiped them clean.

And suddenly, she pointed somewhere… it was that dome with the stars!

When we got off, she led the others there.

We entered the dome, and Eri followed.

When we asked her where she'd been, she told us she had to go—do not ask.

We understood, and proceeded.

When the dome lit up with stars, we all sat on opposite sides, gazing at the beauty.

It was truly magical.

We left the dome and entered the horror house.

Each pair inside.

I only get unlucky… with Eri. Why?

I wanted Rin, but she was with Misaki.

John and Constantine together, Yuan alone.

I felt sad that Rin wasn't with me—but I used a tracker app on her phone.

Good thing she didn't change the passcode!

I'll trace her, then join her.

Sure, Eri and Misaki are with her—but that's okay.

**As I was searching on my phone, suddenly we heard something brush against the wall… then overlapping noises emerged.

Then suddenly, a hand touched me.

When I looked ahead, I found a clown's face laughing at me.

I wasn't too scared—but when I looked at Eri… she was gone.

She fled? Finally!

I discovered her weak spot… and I'll take revenge on her.

For now… I need to find Rin.

I followed the app until I found someone in front of me.

To be sure, I called her… and her phone rang.

I hung up and approached.

I said: "Rin, where's Misaki? Did you split up? Don't worry… I'm here.

I got separated from Eri too.

You know what? She's afraid of clowns.

Rin… why aren't you answering? Still afraid of darkness?"

I placed my hand over her eyes, held her hand, and led her along—

until I heard her voice say: "If you had any common sense… you'd try to figure out exactly whose hand you're holding right now!"

When I heard those words—her tone, her voice—I stepped back, then lit my phone. And it was… Misaki!

Looking at me.

I asked her about Rin, and why I found her phone with her.

She answered:

"Rin separated from me, and her phone fell. I took it hoping I'd find her and return it to her.

And then suddenly someone touched my face… without knowing who I was talking to."

I backed away and apologized, saying that I thought it was Rin.

When she asked why I covered her eyes, I replied:

"That Rin—when her grandfather took her to the lake on her birthday—would cover her eyes in the dark, then pull his hands away to let her see the gift.

After he died, she became afraid of darkness… because she remembered him."

When Misaki heard that, she paused for a moment, then said: "Let's go find Rin."

We started looking for her.

The darkness made it hard to see.

While walking, Misaki asked me:

"Since when did you know about Rin's fear of darkness?"

I told her: "Back when I tried to jump out a window…and she chased me into that room. I noticed her fear then. I tried to calm her down that way.

And when I thought she'd accepted it, she asked: 'How did you know to place your hand over my eyes to soothe me?'

I said it was just a reflex…"

But the painful truth… I learned that secret too late… much too late…

When I was with Rin in the future.

And I deeply regret that day.

While talking with Misaki, suddenly… a knife stuck in the wall right beside me.

And someone was standing there…
