Chapter 12 - 12. Little Alaska

After some discussion, they decided to stick with the previous profit-sharing model, which was a combination of profit sharing and a basic salary.

Li Wei would allocate 10% of the Sea Monster's net profit as the crew's share. As for how this 10% would be divided, it would be decided by Buck and the other two.

If new crew members joined the Sea Monster in the future, the profit-sharing ratio would be renegotiated.

After finalizing the crew's wages and benefits, they began discussing another crucial matter.

That was how much black cod quota to apply for.

In Eagle Country, to conduct commercial fishing, you not only need a fishing permit but also the corresponding fishing quota.

You cannot fish as much as you want; it depends on how much catch quota you have. Exceeding the quota will not only prevent you from earning more money but also result in fines from the ADFG.

After a discussion among the four of them, they decided to first apply for a 40-ton black cod fishing quota.

Seeing that everyone agreed, Li Wei also nodded in agreement, although inwardly he wished for as much quota as possible.

After all, he possessed the detection system as a cheat, and even with a large fishing quota, he was confident he could fulfill it.

Unfortunately, he could only think about it; fishing quotas couldn't be applied for just because he wanted them.

The management committee would allocate based on historical catch volume. Fishermen or companies with better catch records might receive larger quota shares.

Moreover, the system was one of his biggest secrets.

If it were discovered, he believed it wouldn't be long before he vanished and reappeared in some secret laboratory.

...

By the time Li Wei and his group left the restaurant, it was already 9:30 PM.

The distant fishing boat dock was still brightly lit.

Li Wei parted ways with the others and was about to drive back to North Star Farm when he faintly heard a weak cry.

Ever since he transmigrated, Li Wei had found his physical fitness had been enhanced, and his five senses and brain had also significantly improved. Thus, he was certain he hadn't hallucinated and that something was indeed calling out.

However, he didn't rashly go to investigate. Who knew if the sound came from a person or an animal.

This was Eagle Country; nothing was surprising here.

The next second, Li Wei's vision displayed a scene composed of countless light points. Looking in the direction the sound had come from, he didn't see anyone 'fighting' in the alley, but he did see an abandoned little Alaska in a trash can.

At this moment, it was curled up in a ball, its body trembling non-stop.

Clearly, the cry just now had come from it.

Li Wei was about to drive away, but the scene he had just seen involuntarily flashed in his mind. He couldn't help but sigh inwardly, then got out of the car and walked towards the trash can.

Meeting it late at night meant they were fated.

The Buddha said, 'Saving a life is better than building a seven-story pagoda.'

Saving a dog's life should be worth two or three levels.

Li Wei quickly walked to the trash can and lifted out the cardboard box containing the little Alaska.

"Li Wei, how did you know there was a puppy here?"

Just as Li Wei was holding the little Alaska and preparing to check its condition, a girl's voice suddenly came from behind him.

Li Wei didn't need to turn around to know who it was. He replied directly:

"I just heard its cry and came over to take a look."

Jessica was now standing beside Li Wei, her large eyes fixed on the little Alaska.

The little Alaska was already scared, and now being stared at by two humans, its small trembling body shook even more violently, and its dark little eyes revealed anxiety and fear.

Seeing this scene, Jessica's heart completely melted. She said to Li Wei:

"Li Wei, why don't we take this puppy in?"

Actually, even if Jessica hadn't said anything, he was planning to keep this little Alaska. North Star Farm was currently just him alone, and having a puppy would add a lot more life.

Seeing Li Wei agree, a bright smile appeared on Jessica's beautiful face.

She didn't care if the little Alaska was clean or not, she picked it up in her arms and walked towards the restaurant.

Perhaps sensing that the two of them had no ill intentions towards it, the little Alaska closed its eyes in the girl's arms.

Seeing this, Jessica thought the puppy was uncomfortable,

and said anxiously:

"Li Wei, what's wrong with it?"

"Don't worry, it's probably hungry. Let's go buy some pet supplies first."

"Okay, okay, let's go now."

Returning to the entrance of Old Barton's restaurant, they saw Buck standing next to the pickup truck.

Without thinking, they knew he was waiting for them.

Seeing the two return, and his sister holding a puppy, Buck asked curiously:

"Li Wei, where did you pick up this puppy?"

"I heard its cry just now, and then found it in the trash can over there. It looks like it was abandoned."

"It's a lucky little guy. If it hadn't met you, it probably wouldn't have survived tonight."

Li Wei nodded in agreement.

Although Alaska's winter was over, the temperature at night was still below freezing.

This little Alaska had a high probability of freezing to death.

Even if it miraculously didn't freeze to death, it might be eaten by other wild animals.

Li Wei greeted Buck,

and then drove away in the F150.

As the taillights of the pickup truck disappeared, only Buck was left standing there.

...

More than ten minutes later, the F150 stopped in front of the pet store.

Li Wei and Jessica walked into the pet store.

The owner, who was about to close, saw customers arriving at this hour and greeted them warmly:

"What can I get for you two?"

"Boss, we just found a little Alaska and want to buy some suitable food for it, and also see if it has any other problems."

After Li Wei finished speaking, he took the puppy out of his backpack.

The owner took the little Alaska, examined it carefully, confirmed there were no problems, and said:

"This little Alaska is very healthy. Looking at its teeth, it should be less than a month old. Perhaps the mother dog had an accident, otherwise, the owner wouldn't abandon a puppy less than a month old."

Li Wei thought the same. He had noticed that there were many old clothes in the cardboard box.

This situation was not uncommon in Eagle Country.

The reason was simple: if they couldn't even afford to raise themselves, where would they get money to buy milk powder?

"Boss, this is my first time raising such a young puppy. Please help me see what things are needed."

"No problem, I'll get them for you now."

After the owner left, Jessica said:

"Li Wei, we don't seem to have named this little guy yet. Why don't you give it a name?"

"Hmm, it does need a name."

Li Wei pondered for a moment.

"Then let's call it Wang Cai."

"Wang Cai? That name sounds really strange."

"Jessica, it's called Wang Cai. Its meaning is to help us earn more money."

"Okay, that's a good name."

Jessica picked up Wang Cai and said:

"Wang Cai, Wang Cai, Wang Cai."

"Woo woo woo."

Little Wang Cai was also very cooperative, seeming to know it was being called, and kept 'wooing'.

Seeing this scene, Jessica couldn't help but exclaim.

"Li Wei, Little Wang Cai seems to know I'm calling it."

Li Wei also noticed at this point that Little Wang Cai was a bit smarter than other puppies, or perhaps it was just a coincidence.

The owner had finished preparing the items by now.

"Buddy, everything the puppy needs is here. I've also left you a note with instructions on how to use them."

"Thanks, Boss. How much is it in total?"

"A total of 230 us dollars. Card or cash?"
