Chapter 19: Attacked Reactive Points + 1

---

"Please… please… if you love me… give me something nice…"

DING!

"Lucky you. Jade Skin Reactive Skill (passive)."

Yin Zhe gasped. "Ahhh—! Yes! Yes!"

He slapped his chest. Slap!.

"Jade Skin?? That sounds like defense… Or beauty… Or maybe both? Hah! Thank you!!.. skin like jade.. yes.. hehehe"

He laughed like a maniac and fell back on his bed.

"Only one ticket left. My Last spin."

The reels rolled fast, sparks flying everywhere. Sparkle! Sparkle!

Yin Zhe leaned forward.

"Hmmm… come on… end well… please…"

DING!

"Better luck next time."

Yin Zhe stared at the last message on the system screen. His eyes were wide open. His jaw hung open for a moment before he let out a long breath.

"yey… I got two skills… I actually got two skills…" he whispered.

Then he dropped to his knees again. Thud.

He raised his hands to the ceiling like he was praising the heavens.

"Thank you! Thank you oooh!. Whoever is up there, thank you!. Budha. Zeus"

He bowed his head again. Thud.

"Gods… ancestors… Buddha… Zeus… thank you for not letting me waste those tickets!"

He kept on nodding like a child who just found candy.

While he was still smiling hard, the system made a soft sound. Ding!!. A new message popped up. It floated in front of him in blue light and golden edges.

[New Notice:

Reactive Points can be used to buy Skill Tickets and Golden Tickets from the shop.

More items will appear as host increases cultivation level.]

Yin Zhe froze.

"Hmm?" He leaned in. "So I can buy more tickets too?. And more things will unlock as I grow stronger?. Now the sound more promising"

His eyes shined. Sparkle…

He scratched the back of his head. Rustle… Scratch!.

"So this system… has a shop… and the shop upgrades as I grow… tsk… this is soo much like a real game."

He clicked his tongue. "Tsk. They made me into a gambler."

He sat on the bed and slowly stretched his legs. His mind started spinning again.

"Okay… now… how do I activate those skills?. Are they automatic?. Do I need to shout something? Or say something?. Perhaps I need to do some weird poses?. Like in those movies"

He frowned and glanced around the room.

The lamps burned with yellow light. The small inn window creaked softly. Creak… creak…

He rubbed his jaw.

"Echo Body Reactive Skill… passive… hmm. Jade Skin Reactive Skill… passive… hmm."

He went quiet for a moment.

"Passive should mean. always on, right?" he muttered. "Jade Skin… what does that even mean?. Is it a strong defense?. Or just shiny skin?. What are the odds that I get a two in one package"

He held up his arm to the light.

"Hmmm… I don't see any jade," he whispered. "At least I'm not glowing green… I think... Hehehe. Glowing green with a bulky body and super strength. Wouldn't that be the hulk from those marvel studios on earth.."

He sighed and put his arm down.

As he sat on the bed thinking deeply, something tiny moved near his ankle.

Bzzzz…

Yin Zhe didn't notice. Suddenly

BITE.

"Hissss—!!" He jumped a little. "Ahh! Again??"

He slapped his leg. Thap!

He stared down.

A mosquito flew off with attitude, almost like it was proud it bit him twice.

"Eh??" Yin Zhe's voice cracked. "This kind of hotel??. Already two bites??. I paid ten crystals! Why do I feel like I am sleeping outside!?"

He rubbed the bite mark and noticed he didn't actually feel anything there.

"Stupid mosquito…"

Then the system beeped again. Ding!.

A small message blinked at the corner of his interface.

[Attacked Reactive Points + 1]

The mosquito hit the tiled floor with a soft thud, its tiny legs twitching like it had just fought an entire war it never signed up for. Yin Zhe blinked. As he stared at the insect with a confused face, his mouth hanging open a little as he let out a low, thoughtful sound.

"huh… what's this now?" he muttered.

The mosquito dragged itself across the floor like it regretted all its life choices. It wasn't dead. But it looked defeated, like it wanted to buzz at Yin Zhe and say, "Why me?"

Yin Zhe rubbed his arm where the mosquito had tried to bite him. He didn't even feel pain. It didn't even sting. No feeling of being pricked. Absolutely Nothing.

"Ahhh… so this is the Jade Skin at work, right?" he whispered, tapping his arm lightly. "Hmph… tough like jade, yeah? It didn't even scratch me... okay I guess I can't be excited over a mosquito"

He let out a small laugh. "Hehehe."

Then he paused. And looked at the twitching bug.

"But why did the mosquito drop and twitch like that?. Why did it fall as if someone slapped it?. Because I didn't even touch it" He squatted beside the insect, staring at it with narrowed eyes.

"Is it because of the Echo Body reactive skill?" he asked himself. "Maybe… maybe it echoes every attack back to the attacker. Hmmm. It's more like a reaction. I guess the system is eager to live up to it's name"

He tapped his chin. Tap. Tap.

His face grew serious, with sharp eyes, and voice low like he was thinking through a puzzle that only he could understand.

"So… if something or someone attacks me… the damage bounces or echoes back?. But it damages both sides?. I'll still receive the attack and only an echo would be sent back. Tsk… that's rough." He sucked his teeth. "But Jade Skin protects me, skin as hard as jade. Perhaps not that hard yet. But still. so maybe I won't feel anything… as long as the opponent isn't that strong."

He nodded slowly. "Okay… okay. That makes sense."

The mosquito twitched again on the floor. Yin Zhe watched it, then sighed. And laughed. Hehehe.

"Just look at you… you look like you regret your whole existence." He sniffed. "Well, you started it. Not me. I'll take you on two hundred rounds without lifting a finger. Hehehe"

He waved his hand and turned away from the insect, ignoring it like it was nothing more than dust on the ground. He walked back toward his bed and sat down with a fwump, rubbing his temples as he called out to the system in his mind.

"System, open the shop."

Ding!!.

A soft ding rang in his head, and a glowing panel slid into view. Words started to slowly form on the screen. Yin Zhe leaned in with wide eyes.

"Hmmm… let me see what's here," he whispered. His heart beat a little faster in excitement, a mix of excitement and anxious. He didn't know if the shop would give him something to look forward to… or just extra stress.

Then he opened the shop menu and saw it saw it.

There was A golden ticket on the listing. Its price sat boldly beneath it: 1000 Reactive Points

Yin Zhe froze.
