Chapter 16 - Teleport Return

Fayre and the council watched in shock as the spirit lifted high into the sky, way above the roof at this point, and began to make its way directly towards Hero Tower.

Its speed began to rapidly increase as it soared through the sky, a black cloud of energy on its way to cause an enormous amount of destruction.

Fayre, still trying to collect her thoughts, quickly realized she was gawking at the sight, wasting a severe amount of time. Her open mouth snapped shut and her head shot down to face the rest of the council.

"We need to get to the tower as quickly as possible," she said, gazing around at the people around her. "Any suggestions?"

A man from the council stepped forward. "I'll use my teleportation ability to get us all back to the tower nearly instantaneously."

Fayre, knowing the man and his power, looked back at him with a hesitant gaze. "Have you ever transported this many people before?" she said, unsure of whether or not to proceed with the process.

The man, instead of giving her a clear answer, just shrugged. "Worth a shot."

Fayre was appalled by this answer, throwing a statistic at him that snapped him back to reality. "Diego, there's over 300 people here. 'Worth a shot' isn't gonna cut it. Your ability is responsible for all of their lives."

"But Fayre," he countered. "What other option do we have? If we don't do something soon, the spirit will just destroy Hero Tower."

Fayre scrunched her face at this, knowing the potentially grim results of both options. Meanwhile the unconscious body on the ground was beginning to wake up. Fayre looked over at him as he rose to his feet.

She spoke in his direction. "Are you alright?" He brushed himself off, hesitating while looking at the masses of people starting back at him. He nodded quickly. "I'm fine."

"You're aware you were possessed, correct?"

He nodded again. "Unfortunately, yes."

Fayre nodded back. "Well, as long as you're okay." She turned back to the council. "Diego, I'm sorry, but it's too risky. Anyone else have any other suggestions on how we can—"

It was hard to tell once more, but from behind her she thought she heard a snap. In an instant, her surroundings changed. She, along with the rest of the council, were no longer on the rooftop. Instead, they found themselves inside of the council chamber.

She looked around, asking who was responsible for the move. Everyone else cleared, leaving only one man standing there.
