Having pulled himself out from a battlefield between a flock of Yian Kut-Ku and Kulu-Ya-Ku, the Admiral looked somewhat disheveled. Although he did not know why the flock of Yian Kut-Ku had started fighting with the Kulu-Ya-Ku, after Little Loren had in a nearly overbearing manner knocked the Yian Kut-Ku leader out of the sky and, relying on His own strength, forcibly beaten open a relatively safe path through the flock of Yian Kut-Ku, the Admiral had ultimately chosen to follow Little Loren and force their way across the battlefield.
Watching Little Loren beside him with His eyes closed, as with each breath the tiny wounds that had just been struck during the battle were recovering at a considerable speed, the Admiral could not help but feel a surge of emotion.
He truly was the Boss Fire Wyvern's child!
All along the way, Little Loren had displayed combat ability that did not belong to a juvenile dragon at all; most astonishing of all was His formidable vitality. Several times He had clearly looked beaten to a miserable state, yet once the fighting was over, He was still bouncing around full of energy, as if He had not been injured at all.
The Admiral, who had crossed blows many times with different Elder Dragons, knew very clearly that in this world, monsters are monsters and Elder Dragons are Elder Dragons, even though Elder Dragons are often only large monsters that cannot be classified using existing knowledge.
But it was undeniable that Elder Dragons were the absolute protagonists of this world. Those bizarre abilities and extremely vigorous vitality allowed Them, even in Their juvenile stage, to possess the combat strength to reign over their ecological niche.
Moreover, in the Admiral's view, according to the information that had been gathered, Little Loren was now much stronger than Logan had been at the same age.
It was just that, for some reason, he kept feeling that Little Loren's final upper limit would probably not be able to surpass Logan's~
[Rustle~]
A sound of shrubs rubbing against one another came from nearby.
The Admiral instantly became alert; with a turn of his body, he gripped his weapon and stood ready for battle.
As for Little Loren, who had still been resting a moment ago, He also opened His eyes at just the right moment. Scorching heat instantly spread across His whole body, and the branches beneath His feet faintly took on a scorched appearance.
Little Loren's last inherited trait: Sunlight!
This was a power passed down along with the bloodline, one that belonged exclusively to the descendants of the Sunblaze Dragon.
It was just that, unlike Logan back then, when a single activation could affect the air temperature of an entire area, the Sunlight that Little Loren was now activating by mixing fire-attribute energy and life energy could, at present, only raise the temperature around Him and slightly increase the activity of the fire-attribute energy.
In terms of lethality, it could not even compare to Flame Body, but the advantage lay in this: once Little Loren entered this state, the fire-attribute energy within His body would become incomparably active, thereby passively driving the energies of His body into an active state, making His scales become even harder and increasing His resistance to various attribute energies.
As the rustling sound came closer and closer and at the same time grew ever more urgent, just as Little Loren was about to fly up into the sky—
A panicked Royal Ludroth suddenly burst out. Its eyes at this moment were filled with terror, and even when it saw Little Loren and the Admiral, it still charged straight toward them without any regard.
Just as Little Loren was about to spit a mouthful of flame over, green lightning writhed like a snake as it surged out of the jungle, fell onto the Royal Ludroth's body and exploded, causing the Royal Ludroth to let out a loud howl of pain.
Immediately afterward, a tentacle covered in blue liquid, its tip like a dragon's head with its jaws wide open, wrapped around the Royal Ludroth that had gone limp and collapsed on the ground, and, right under the eyes of Little Loren and the Admiral, forcibly dragged the Royal Ludroth away.
A foul stench was left hanging in the air. The Admiral looked warily at the dense jungle and tapped the edge of his shield with his lance. Hearing this sound, Little Loren, who by now was already somewhat in sync with the Admiral, quickly took to the air to keep watch.
As for the Admiral, he fully opened his senses to observe their surroundings. Very cautiously, he quickly gathered the plant leaves stained with the blue liquid left behind by that tentacle, then swiftly fell back, moving away from that stretch of jungle.
After once more finding a place with a wide field of view and using a thick tree root protruding from the ground as their new temporary foothold, only then did the Admiral put away his weapon. Listening to the sound of Little Loren landing on a tree branch, the Admiral, his expression grave, took out the blue liquid he had collected.
The stench of corpses, the fishy smell of marine creatures, and that unknown pungent stench all madly assaulted the Admiral's nose.
However, for an old hunter like him, he had smelled things far worse. What truly concerned the Admiral was that the leaves stained with the blue liquid had actually become extremely hard; without using some force, he could not even snap them.
"Materials like this seem like they could be used for many things." That was the Admiral's first thought.
"Roar!!"
Suddenly, Little Loren's furious roar came, and as a large number of leaves fell, Little Loren quickly rose into the air and, without the slightest hesitation, spewed a wide-area breath of flame toward the lake not far away.
However, as a surge of electric current surfaced accompanied by a thunderous roar, a great spray of water exploded upward. A deathly pale Astalos skull, jaws gaping and wreathed in green lightning, burst out of the lake. Beneath the skull was a pair of wings that were nothing but bone, and the lightning was spreading out from there.
Rapidly climbing to avoid the oncoming current, Little Loren went all out. Like a flying artillery piece, He continuously spat out fireballs one after another, but when those fireballs landed on the deathly pale bones, aside from making a bit of noise and kicking up some smoke and dust, they did not seem to have any other effect.
Suddenly, a golden long spear thrust out from within the smoke and dust, its tip aimed straight at the monster's "head."
Just as it was about to hit, the "Royal Ludroth," still carrying thin strands of shredded flesh, rushed out from the other side. With only a skull left and a body long like a snake's skeleton, it crashed into the Admiral, who had just managed to raise his defenses in time, and knocked him back.
When the smoke and dust dispersed, two swaying figures completely burst out of the lake, "staring" fixedly at the Admiral and Little Loren in the sky. A terrifying sense of pressure swept over them in an instant, as if in the very next second they could be easily torn to pieces.
"The two-headed dragon mentioned in the reports!! Wasn't It supposed to be in that place like a dragon's graveyard? Could it be that It isn't an environment-type monster, but can leave as It pleases?"
The Admiral was stunned for an instant, then recovered. A hunter's investigations would always have all sorts of loopholes; relying entirely on intel was not a mistake an old hunter would make.
It was just that he was about to face an Elder Dragon head-on once again, and that heart of his, which had not grown old along with his age, grew excited once more!
The Admiral was excited, but Little Loren in the sky was at this moment suppressing His instinct to stay away.
Compared to the Admiral, what the Elder Dragon blood had given Little Loren was an even more sensitive perception.
The undisguised greedy malice of Nakarkos, the vast life energy so exaggerated it surpassed Little Loren's understanding, and that targeted sense of oppression coming from the ecological niche all made this fledgling Elder Dragon whelp spontaneously activate His instincts.
"This guy might actually be stronger than Father!"
In Little Loren's heart, Logan was like a mountain impossible to cross, and in front of Logan, He would always feel a deep sense of powerlessness.
But what Logan gave Him at most was only a certain amount of pressure. Nakarkos was different; It would never indulge Its "prey." The pressure Little Loren was under right now was practically maxed out. If His own tolerance had not been relatively strong, He would probably have already turned tail and run at the very first moment, just like those ordinary monsters.
