Chapter 32 - Reliable

The exhaustion finally won. I must've blacked out in the car because the next thing I knew, I was waking up in my suite. The sun streamed through a gap in the heavy drapes brightly, too brightly. My body ached in places I didn't even know existed, but despite the physical exhausted, a strange calm had settled over me; I didn't feel like I was on edge anymore, I didn't feel like i was losing my mind at the moment.

I shifted slowly to test my limbs; they were sore but functional. I sat up carefully, and my gaze travelled around the space to where my clothes from yesterday still lay on the armchair, they reminded me of Elias. The memory of his hands as he'd held my hair, then later, as he'd carefully pulled my clothes back into place in the car.

He had taken care of me, that was a new feeling I hadn't realized I craved until it was given.
