Chapter 278 - Chapter 277: Entering the Abyssal Demons Burial

Chapter 277: Entering the Abyssal Demons Burial

Just as Li Xun and Huang Xi were about to leave, suddenly, Li Xun's expression shifted.

He flipped his hand, took out a jade transmission slip, sent his spiritual sense into it to check the contents, and couldn't help but curl his lips into a meaningful smile.

"Master, did something happen?" Huang Xi asked curiously.

"Nothing major."

Li Xun let out a light, casual chuckle and said indifferently, "It's just that a grand show is about to begin."

Xiao Fan had left the Great Zhou Empire's borders and set off toward the Spirit Clan. This meant that Xiao Fan's personal main storyline was beginning to move forward.

Once the Spirit Clan was dealt with, it would probably be the Xiao Clan's Xiao Chen's turn.

"Master isn't going to take a look?" Huang Xi's beautiful eyes lit up, her voice carrying a hint of excitement.

"You want to go?" Li Xun raised an eyebrow and glanced at Huang Xi, unable to hold back a laugh.

Although Huang Xi was powerful, within the Divine Phoenix Clan she was just barely considered an adult, equivalent to an eighteen- or nineteen-year-old among humans.

It was no surprise she still carried a bit of innocent youthful enthusiasm.

"If Master goes, I'll go." Huang Xi pursed her lips and said softly.

"Don't worry." Li Xun chuckled, flying forward as his voice drifted behind him: "There will be a chance."

Xiao Fan setting off from the Great Zhou Empire toward the Spirit Clan's lair was not a journey that could be completed quickly. Even with Jiang Taixuan accompanying him, it would still take considerable time.

And during this period, Li Xun had more than enough time to take care of everything inside the Abyssal Demons Burial.

. . .

Five days later, outside the Abyssal Demons Burial, Li Xun and Huang Xi stood side-by-side at the foot of a towering black mountain. Both of their expressions were solemn—gone was the relaxed ease they had before.

Over these five days, they had flown a full circle around the Abyssal Demons Burial, yet saw no trace of any Otherworldly Demon.

The situation Li Xun least wanted to see had arrived.

The Otherworldly Demon that crossed over were not outside the Abyssal Demons Burial—they were inside it!

"It would be one thing if we simply didn't see any demons. But we can't even find anyone from the Spirit Clan or the Xiao Clan. Interesting…" Li Xun murmured thoughtfully.

The Spirit Clan, Xiao Clan, and other factions had paid a great price to lure him to the Abyssal Demons Burial. For them to now be nowhere in sight… He did not believe they were merely "on the way."

"Since we're here, let's go in and take a look."

Resolving himself, Li Xun stepped first into the Abyssal Demons Burial. Walking a circle around the outer layer wouldn't trigger too much danger.

The Abyssal Demons Burial was called a "deep abyss," but that only referred to its core region.

The outer areas were still filled with endless mountain ranges.

However, every mountain shared a single color—pitch black.

Even the flowers, grass, and trees were black, with no second color anywhere.

After entering the Abyssal Demons Burial, both Li Xun and Huang Xi felt a terrifying aura pressing on them. With each step forward, the aura intensified, stirring unease in their hearts.

It felt like they were gradually approaching some supreme, terrifying existence.

Only after fully entering the Burial's interior did they finally understand how overwhelmingly majestic these mountains were—as if they had stood here since the dawn of creation.

Each mountain towered tens of thousands of meters high, the peaks piercing into the clouds like pillars propping up the heavens—mysterious, vast, and utterly beyond mortal craftsmanship.

"Master, this place is very strange. My spiritual sense seems to be suppressed." Huang Xi's pretty face was solemn.

On the way here, Li Xun had already warned her that once they entered the Abyssal Demons Burial, not only did they have to beware of the Otherworldly Demon, but also the lingering obsessions of the demons who had fallen here in ancient times.

Besides these two dangers, they also had to be wary of experts from other factions who might be present.

But now, with their spiritual senses suppressed, the two of them walking within the Abyssal Demons Burial were no different from blind and deaf men. They had no way of knowing where the great terrors might be hidden.

"Our spiritual senses are suppressed—but others are in the same situation."

Li Xun continued moving forward.

After traveling several thousand li, they arrived before a series of continuous mountain peaks.

Here, forty-nine mountains stood connected together, towering high into the clouds, pitch black as ink, each shrouded in band-like black mists, forming a barrier ahead.

Upon reaching this place, it was as if the very laws of the world had shifted.

Strange spiritual herbs grew here—plants that did not belong to the current era at all, reminiscent of the world the Otherworldly Demon came from.

Li Xun raised his hand and blasted apart a distant hill. From within it, he drew out a black stone.

Holding it in his palm, he examined it carefully and gained some insight.

"As expected. Too many Otherworldly Demon were buried here back then. After their bodies dissipated, they merged into this land, turning this region of tens of millions of li into a nearly independent small world!"

The black stone he had retrieved was the embryonic form of a Blood Essence Stone.

It wasn't even considered a low-grade Blood Essence Stone—its internal essence was chaotic and difficult to absorb.

Even so, it proved that this place could indeed produce a Blood Essence Stone vein!

"If even this outer area can produce such crude Blood Essence Stones, then deeper within the Abyssal Demons Burial… wouldn't there be low-grade or even high-grade Blood Essence Stones?"

Li Xun murmured.

Before his voice fell, a wave of black mist surged forward. Within it, ghostly shadows writhed like the descent of hell itself. Countless ghastly figures wailed with hair-raising screams.

"Human… courting death!"

"Demonic beast… a stench I despise!"

"I am a Saint of the Celestial Race… yet I fell here… I hate…!"

These were manifestations of the obsessions left behind by the Otherworldly Demon.

Their memories in life were mostly gone, leaving behind only a final strand of lingering thought.

Their strength was only a ten-thousandth of what it once was.

Even if they had been Saints in life, they probably couldn't kill a single Life and Death Realm cultivator now.

The only thing they had left was numbers.

And this was merely the outer layer of the Abyssal Demons Burial.

Rumor had it that deep inside, there existed demon obsessions no weaker than a Quasi-Emperor—beings who, in life, were at least on the level of Emperors.

"You don't need to act. I'll deal with them." Li Xun instructed calmly.

Huang Xi was his hidden trump card.

She must not act prematurely—not until the Spirit Clan, Xiao Clan, and others revealed themselves. Otherwise, it would alert the enemies.

He stepped forward.

The Azure Dragon Halberd appeared in his hand, and a dragon's roar echoed out, shaking the world.

The surrounding mountains trembled, countless rocks collapsing.

"Break!"

Li Xun let out a light shout.

The Azure Dragon Halberd smashed downward, shaking heaven and earth.

The terrifying shockwave spread out like a vast ocean, engulfing a hundred li around them.

The once boundless black mist evaporated like frost under the blazing sun—vanishing completely in less than the blink of an eye.
