Chapter 5 - Chapter 4 - Beginning of the Journey (I)

The next morning, Godwyn was eating with Annabeth, Luke, and Thalia. The food was canned beans. Were the beans good? Definitely not. Apparently, the beans had already passed their suitable consumption date, so the smell and taste were terrible.

But nothing a demigod's physiology couldn't handle. So, despite the terrible taste, no one complained, and everyone ate in silence. Although young Annabeth's face was pale from eating such food.

"I'll teach you how to hunt later." Godwyn said while eating the sour beans with a calm expression. He was eating, which was already pleasant; he wouldn't be like a spoiled child.

"You seem used to living alone." Luke commented while eating his beans with a bitter and helpless expression.

"I was raised in forests, mountains, and canyons; I'm used to the hard life in nature." Godwyn finished eating and replied in a calm, yet warm voice.

Luke nodded, but Annabeth, with her insatiable curiosity, certainly couldn't stay silent. "How is the Norse pantheon, very different from the Greek?"

Godwyn let out a low laugh, guessing how long the girl would remain silent, but it didn't take half an hour for the questions to start. However, he wasn't dissatisfied. If the daughter of Wisdom had no curiosity, there was something very wrong with Athena.

"Instead of a camp, demigods live in a hotel called Valhalla; they are trained there to save the world from the prophecy of the end of the world, which is called Ragnarok." Godwyn spoke with a gentle and calm tone.

"If they know the end of the world is going to happen, why don't they stop it?" Annabeth asked confusedly. It was the most obvious thing, even with her immature mind.

"Because the final destiny cannot change, only the beginning and middle can, which is why Ragnarok has been postponed until now." Godwyn answered the girl's doubts. "Norse demigods have saved the world from Ragnarok countless times over millennia. Just as I saved it once."

This time, Thalia's eyes lit up hearing Godwyn's words. "What did you do to save the world, Golden Boy?"

Ignoring the nickname he had earned from the blue-eyed girl, Godwyn replied with an amused laugh. "I defeated the black dragon Nidhogg, the one who corrodes the Roots of the World Tree."

"You fought a dragon!!!" Annabeth's eyes widened, and she spoke with a tone full of admiration. After all, it was the nature of the world to admire the strong, especially in the divine world. Especially Athena's daughter, who loved to read and read about the figures of Greek heroes.

Mimir also looked at Godwyn with a touch of surprise in his expression, although he knew the boy had saved the world once, he really didn't expect it to be something involving Nidhogg. He knew well the power of that monstrous beast that had nothing but an infinite desire for devouring.

Many might think that the most dangerous thing was the dragon's physical strength, but Mimir knew that Nidhogg was a terrible adversary because he possessed one of the deadliest poisons in the world. A poison capable of killing an entire city of mortals with just one drop, it was a poison capable of even harming a god.

If a demigod touches Nidhogg's poison, their best fate was to be corroded until they turned into a puddle of flesh, blood, and organs. The worst fate was to be tortured day and night by the poison until they finally begged for death that would never come.

"Defeating Nidhogg wasn't difficult; the dragon has no intelligence and was just a beast with instincts. Using a little intelligence, you can also kill him quickly." Godwyn commented with an indifferent tone. Killing Nidhogg was not impressive to him, especially because the dragon had no intelligence.

Which made things easier, after all, like any animal, Nidhogg had a combo of attacks trained throughout his life. You just had to memorize these attacks, and everything would be easily resolved.

If you are a Soulslike player, you would understand Nidhogg's attack patterns even faster.

Mimir pursed his lips and rolled his eyes. If Nidhogg were so easy to defeat, the dragon wouldn't be casually called legendary. He was one of the oldest and most ancient beasts in the Nine Worlds, but he became a harmless animal in Godwyn's words.

Annabeth looked at Godwyn with a more admiring gaze; using intelligence on the battlefield made her very satisfied with his answer. Her mother was the goddess of war and wisdom; she defeated Ares himself, the god of war, countless times because of her intelligence.

So Godwyn using intelligence in battle showed that he wasn't just a brain full of muscles.

"And you two, have you received any missions?" Godwyn asked, looking at Luke and Thalia, both older than him.

"I've never been to Camp Half-Blood, so I've never received a mission." Luke replied with a slightly embarrassed tone.

Godwyn was obviously younger than him, but he had already saved the world once, which made the proud boy feel a little jealous and ashamed, especially after seeing the admiring glances Thalia and Annabeth gave Godwyn.

"I met Luke not long ago, and like him, I've never been to Camp Half-Blood." Unlike Luke, Thalia didn't feel ashamed of not having done any great deeds. After all, she was a thirteen-year-old teenager and felt she couldn't do great things, at least not at the moment.

Her goal was simple: survive to reach Camp Half-Blood and train to become stronger. Anything else should be put aside, as survival was the most important thing.

Godwyn nodded, feeling no surprise at their words.

"Can you already use your powers?" For a safe journey, Godwyn had to familiarize himself with the three, especially the powers of the three demigods before him.

"I can run super fast and unlock any lock with my eyes closed." Luke spoke first, with a proud tone. He had reason to be proud, after all, he was one of the few sons of Hermes who managed to inherit his powers.

"I can control lightning." Thalia summarized her powers simply and easily. Although they were much more complicated than just controlling lightning.

"I'm a genius." Annabeth was even more arrogant than Luke and said with an extremely proud expression, like a peacock displaying its feathers. Obviously, being intelligent was what made her most proud.

Thalia looked at Annabeth and simply lightly punched her head, but still spoke. "Don't be too proud; I'm the leader, and my plans are better than yours."

Looking at Thalia with resentment, Annabeth muttered in a voice only she could hear. "What plan? Fighting Cyclops head-on or jumping into a Harpy nest? That's not a plan; it's suicide."

If Thalia had heard Annabeth's words, she probably would have punched Annabeth's head again for speaking ill of her.

"And you, Godwyn." Thalia asked. "What powers do you have?"

Godwyn smiled at her and replied in a gentle tone. "Many; I inherited many powers from my detestable progenitor."

Godwyn didn't lie to Thalia; Odin considered him the most powerful Demigod to ever set foot on earth, inheriting almost completely all of his powers. Which was completely unprecedented and surreal for any god.

But because he was so powerful, Godwyn managed to kill Nidhogg with some relative difficulty, although the dragon still gave him some trouble, as it was resistant to almost all elements.

Noticing Godwyn's disgust when he mentioned his divine father, Thalia didn't ask anything else, although she was curious about who his father was. Apparently, he was a very powerful God.

"Since you can use your powers, things will be easier for us, but we'll have to be careful with monsters; our combined scent will be like a sumptuous Christmas." Godwyn had no doubt that they would be attacked in the future. In this group, there are two descendants of King Gods, two descendants of powerful gods. There has never been a feast for monsters like this.

"Let's go through the city; we can use the buildings as escape routes if we start running." Thalia acted as the group leader very naturally, something Godwyn didn't question. Not because the girl had a strange charisma that made you accept her orders, but simply because he didn't want to cause discord.

In the end, he had just joined the group and had no familiarity with Luke, Thalia, and Annabeth.

Looking at the scene before him, Mimir couldn't help but find it amusing. The Daughter of Zeus was truly an extraordinary girl, especially with her charisma; she herself might not perceive it, but she exuded an aura similar to the king of the gods.

Although the aura was weak, do not underestimate the power of this majestic feeling, as it was very powerful and could make gods and monsters unconsciously like the girl.

Godwyn might not be affected because he had the same charisma, and was even more powerful than Thalia, but Luke and Annabeth had already accepted Thalia as leader and did not refuse the girl's orders.
