Well, what can you do apart from sweating buckets? Nothing, things after things, and now this you gotta deal with.
'...Dang it, I just can't catch a break or what?' The knocking which obviously came from the entrance of his unit, really spooked the heck out of him. Standing not far from it as he stayed still.
...*KNOCK*
"Seriously? It won't go away... I gotta do something."
Not the expected outcome he wanted to happen, just wanted it to somehow go away and stop freaking knocking already but this one he got instead, forced to find out just whatever was knocking, a sigh also escaped from his mouth as he said those quietly too...
"...I need to get that thing first."
If he's gonna open the dang door, he needed something to protect himself first; after all not like he knows what's gonna happen, some knocking at this time around that's very much a straight-up a no-no.
With a quiet stride toward his room and straight to the wardrobe of his... A hand to the handle of the door to it as he slowly opened it albeit rather easily... The inside of it apparently had his clothing and other stuff; Well, his other vigilante pieces. And what he wanted to get was his vigilante weapon! The wooden bat!
"...Alright, let's find whatever that was."
With the bat within his possession now. With it being held within his hand it's finally, the time. Striding forward as he went and straight to the front entrance, just standing there as he steeled himself.
The entrance door was nothing lavish or anything, it was just your average door but thankfully there was a peephole. Jeff now walked closer than ever, very much before the door, and a peephole to his face. He gulped.
'...Could this be... The cat from back then...?! No way... This better not be...'
Thinking so, it might be possible considering how wild yesterday was, but c'mon! What does this cat even want from him if it was that desperate to chase him all the day to his home? But it just straight up dipped from their impending fight, it was just strange, really.
Questioning it internally within himself but that didn't take long, as he shook his head side to side as if in denial—that he can't even commit to it fully, leaving himself in a limbo of doubt.
'...That's just crazy, I ain't even sure at all... I really need to find out...!' With exhaled breath, he finally decided to peek into the peephole... An eye peeking whilst the one closed shut... And with bated breath as he peered into it... And it was...
'...What the hell am I seeing?'
Expression of that confusion was worn over his face the moment he looked into the peephole. Well, of course he did, what he was seeing right now, was just darkness—not completely though, supposedly, there was ceiling light outside; although they're faint but that still got to be something at least and somehow there's none...
'Dang it! I gotta freaking open the door now?! I can't even see anything behind this!'
A thought surfaced within his mind. He shouldn't be seeing something like this, what was blocking his view from this peephole actually?! There was no way it was actually that dark behind this... But well how would he know that? It looked like there was no other choice than that... He gotta open the door.
"...Dang it... C'mon... It's probably just nothing..."
Retreating a little bit from the door, since peeping into the peephole ended up doing nothing. Now, he gotta open the door to find out for himself.
Whatever was knocking on the dang door.
Gulp.
A gulp came from him, as the time then was let to pass by, and finally...
"Alright..."
With the bat on his left hand, and the other reaching for the doorknob as he stepped forward... This could get worse for him or nothing at all. But that wouldn't have been known, unless he opened the door.
The doorknob twisted slowly and fully, as Jeff finally opened the door with a calm gait that resurfaced nervousness too... Slowly as it creaks...
And with door just opened enough for him to peek from the edge... His left hand holding the bat stayed behind the door... And he looked from there... What he saw was; a towering figure... And thankfully, they're human.
"...? What... Mr. Gattlings?"
"...Well, that took you a long time to open the door, kid."
The one that had been knocking the door of his apartment, was finally revealed—it was a towering figure, with body that looked pretty much muscular which indicated they had trained themselves, a grey hair paired with black eyes and as well wearing white tank top and a short cargo pants but not to forget the sandal they're wearing was a great addition... This person that screams manliness itself was actually the owner of the apartment complex, Gattlings Rogers.
"...Uh, I'm sorry Mr. Gattlings... But why are you knocking on my door?"
...No wonder that Jeff cannot see anything behind the peephole; this person was the reason! His body was broad enough that he can cover the whole door... Although, that was one thing but why was he here before him with all the knocking on the door?
'...Why was he wearing these short clothing... Doesn't he feel cold? It's very much early...'
A thought, as he questioned about it, Mr. Gattlings was wearing such peculiar fit, eith not much skin was covered and they're not trembling at all, well that's tuff. But whilst he thought that he was also at the same time waiting as he anticipating answer to his question... Just why was Mr.Gattlings here right now?
With the door being opened a little bit more wider showing more, of the interior within the unit... And finally.
"I thought you're sleeping, but you're not actually. I'm here about the rent due."
It didn't take long, as Gattlings answered Jeff in a clear yet commanding voice akin to a soldier... Now, it clicked for Jeff...
"...Oh! About that, I'm going to pay for that due rent in the coming days... So, would it be fine?"
On this very early time, Gattlings was here to talk about due rent... But, seriously though it was too early. He really got Jeff be sweating buckets over nothing and made him; thinking that things straight out of norm be happening again.
"Alright, sound good to me. Inform me when you're ready to proceed through the communication device or just directly at my unit. That's all."
Saying his part clearly to Jeff who was only listening to him from the beginning to the end, then just straight-up walked away right after... And Jeff just watched as he goes away... Not that surprised, well kinda just a bit.
After a moment, Mr. Gattlings finally disappeared fully from his view as Jeff then closed the door unit shut... With the bat still held in his hand... A composed yet shallow breath was let out...
"Jeez, thankfully that was nothing crazy like I expected it was..."
With that finally resolved, Jeff finally can relax himself. Now moving again as he headed back to his room...
*THUNK*
Closing the door and with a calm stride as went straight to where his wardrobe was, and that to put his bat where it belongs...
With that done, the wardrobe now closed and Jeff goes toward his bed... And dived into it...
"Man... it's really early huh..." The time now probably was 5:00 AM or could have been past that too... Looking at the ceiling, as he thought to himself.
'Man, how am I gonna keep up... Yesterday things, and things that happened this early...'
Recalling the events that had happened, yesterday he got thrown into situation that was not normal to be dealt with... And not to forget his dreamy yet nightmarish dream—which seriously shook him hard... And thankfully, this one was nothing all serious... It was just Mr. Gattlings asking about the rent due.
"Wait... Do I even have money still? I think I still do, but man I gotta work again..."
Saying so, as he then looked to his side... And with a reaching hand to a desk just beside his bed... A phone was now held within his hand, turning it on as the time showed exactly 5:07 AM.
"...Well, that was expected..." Looking at the time, as he agreed with himself... But, in the midst of that his eyes widened a bit still looking at the time...
"...Wait, hold up... I should be training right now... Dayum! How could I forgot!"
Immediately sprang up and back to his feet as he hurried to change his fit... Jeff had decided that for his vigilante training routine, it will be divided into two; the early morning session and after school session...
Apparently, he forgot about it... Well, that can't be helped, considering how things have been crazy for him yesterday...
Clothes be flying around, as he changed his fit... And it didn't take long... Now, with the right and suitable fit for his training! He set forth to his destination—the rooftop!
"Alright, let's go!"
.
"...Dang it, it's cold..." With an all-black clothing and 100% percent suitable for what he was about to do, long sleeves and even the pants covered his whole legs... He still felt cold.
There was pole light at this very rooftop illuminating the surrounding with just enough light... And here we have Jeff standing at the very entrance. Arms crossed holding his shoulders... And teeth was trembling a tad bit...
"U-unbelievable. How come it was cold, Mr. Gattlings look so unfazed despite having that fit back then?!"
Mr. Gattlings probably was just built different and Jeff can't help but lament with his current situation... Still trembling but that had to stop.
"... C'mon, some cold morning ain't gonna stop me... C'mon me!"
It didn't take long for him to resolve himself! Eyes looking as if it was burning with determination and with steeled resolve, he will stop at nothing!
"Gahhh...! C'mon! Mentality!"
With hands now back to his sides, he screamed out with determination and striding forward as he went to find a comfortable place...!
... A beautiful and smooth ground, and Jeff had been standing on it... He found it...
Now he recalled back what he was planning to do...
For the early morning session, instead of doing freaking 500 of squats, push-ups and sit-ups and a hellish 50km run... It was just impossible. So! He opted for a manageable ones... Early morning, 15 for morning and evening session; squats, push-ups and sit-ups, whilst the 50km run shortened just up 5k with each session need to do a half of it; 2.5km... It was also the same for the other three... 30, to be manageable it was split into two session and that was it!
"This was at least possible for human! Freaking bunny!"
Saying so, with himself already in a position to do push-ups... And whilst training his physicality proved to be hard at first, but now with a more manageable amount of sets, things gonna become less harder... But, for mentality? It was the easiest!
"I'M VIGILANTE...! ENFORCERS OF JUSTICE...!"
Screaming out as he finally started training...!
A streak of 2 push-ups; still going strong and determined... But most important of all, he didn't forget what he needed to do for today. in the midst of his training there it popped up to his head...
'...After this and school too... I'm gonna finally deal with things like yesterday!'
After all, things like that wasn't normal, and if it was dangerous—that was the more reason to stop it before it can harm anyone!
"HIIYAAHH..!"
The training continued as he also finally resolved himself; supernatural things need to be dealt too!
Supernatural stuff? Thugs to be beaten? Yeah, Vigilante Boy gonna deal with that.
...But things will not always go your way, sometimes you will fail... And when that happens, that failure will hit you hard.
