The big day has arrived.
Father's funeral.
Mother, and the rest of us are all clad in black, sitting at the front row in the main hall of the king's palace.
I'm on sunglasses so no one can see my teary eyes. We don't want too much attention now, do we?
The ceremony begins, and his coffin is wheeled into the arena, and placed at the center of the room.
The king dressed in all his regalia struts into the hall, and saunters towards the podium above the seats.
"It is with a heavy heart we announce the death of my dearly beloved second in command, Matthew Sanders. "Matthew Sanders wasn't just a knight, he was family to this kingdom.
He stood for everything we believed in… loyalty, courage, honor."
"Losing him has left a hole that can never be filled.
But what makes this pain worse…" his pauses, eyes scanning the hall, "is knowing that the reason he's gone isn't out there somewhere."
"No.. the reason is right here among us."
