Now on edge, Katsuro darted backwards, ready to brace, and visibly shocked. Kakashi and Guy were also amazed at the sharp increase of chakra around Duy. An invisible aura of wind and a green aura appeared around Duy.
"Now, the real battle starts, Lord Senju!" Duy roared, before rushing forward. Katsuro smiled.
Looks like he's decided to show me his secret ability. Looks like fun…
The speed and power of Duy's attacks increased dramatically. The man's weakness from the last exchange disappeared immediately, but it still wasn't enough. Katsuro was still able to evade, parry and attack Duy who had seemed to somewhat close the gap between their abilities slightly. Realising it still wasn't enough, Duy proceeded to go even further with his abilities.
"Eight Inner Gates: Second Gate: Gate of Rest! OPEN!"
Yet again, Duy's speed, agility, power and sheer combat ability increased further, putting more pressure on Katsuro. However, this again, wasn't enough. This cycle of Duy pushing himself further and further continued. From the side, Guy watched in concern. His father had told him of the immense pressure and strain the body faces when one used any of the Eight Inner Gates. He wanted to cry out in protest, but couldn't bear to discourage his father and teacher, who looked as if he was enjoying the fight. Katsuro also began to try slightly harder, making it a more entertaining experience that allowed him to practise his Taijutsu.
However, this "fun" spar for Katsuro quickly turned more serious, as Duy now skipped backwards, after his last exchange with the Senju Patriarch using the Fourth Inner Gate: The Gate of Pain. By this point, Katsuro had increasingly been forced to use more energy and had to try harder to make his own attacks land as well as evade Duy's attacks. But now, Duy, seeing how easily Katsuro was victorious in each encounter, could not resist pushing himself further. Even while aware of the risks of using the Inner Gates, he still wanted to prove to an amazing shinobi, Katsuro, that he was not some average Genin. He was still full of youth and vitality and he wanted to prove this.
Duy now considerably distanced from Katsuro, who stood watching and waiting for the next level, retook his previous position of slightly crouching with his arms crossed over his mouth. Shutting his eyes he roared:
"Eight Inner Gates. Fifth Gate: Gate of Limit! OPEN!"
A huge green aura, of sweat being evaporated of Duy so quickly, as well as a mini gale of wind spun around Duy. A huge increase in chakra, greater than the previous release of the other gates, was noticed by everyone, and Katsuro now clenched his fists tighter.
He's serious now, Katsuro thought. I still think I won't need to exert myself, but… maybe just a little more than before…
Duy opened his eyes, which now were glowing white. However, he was not done. Releasing his arms to his side he roared:
I can feel my body slowly fading. Even since the third gate… I need to hurry this up! I will rely on my everlasting youth to carry me forwards! Duy thought.
"Sixth Gate: Gate of Joy! OPEN!"
Now, a brief blinding, white light surrounded Duy's body. His eyes now glowed a bright throbbing red. As the light faded, everyone, including Katsuro, were shocked to see Duy's body, which was now looking a much darker shade of red, almost as if the outer layer of his skin had been burned away by the sheer increase in chakra, which was now so large, the ground around Duy was slowly being torn apart.
Katsuro frowned.
Maybe I really do have to start trying. Hm, I'll see how far until I actually have to try. I should-
The thought was quickly interrupted by the now smoking Duy, who moved with such speed that it made the shinobi's body a blur. Duy launched a series of heavy, concentrated yet precise and rapid punches, kicks and various combinations of attacks. The Stormbreaker quickly realised that each gate release scaled up, and Duy was now able to land a few more attacks, as well as being able to dodge and block more of Katsuro's attacks. Although, Katsuro was still quite simply able to keep up the same pressure as before, and knock Duy backwards repeatedly, without suffering from his opponent's assault.
By this time, Guy and Kakashi were both very concerned about Duy's body and the damage it would suffer.
"Isn't he destroying himself just for a spar?" Kakashi asked, turning to look at Guy, his chest tightening to see his "rival"'s eyes pouring out a stream of tears.
"Yes. He is. My father is no regular shinobi! He always works harder than most just to show everyone the power of Taijutsu, his youth and that Ninjutsu isn't the only way to be an amazing ninja! I can't tell him to stop fighting," Guy replied, sniffing, his voice breaking, "I've never seen him have such fun fighting someone! If he believes this is the right path, whatever the consequences may be, I support him!" Guy held his chin up high, proud to see his father and teacher fighting with such pride and ferocity, while being able to enjoy youth and battle.
"Still…" Kakashi murmured.
Guy bit his lip, as if he had something more to say, seeming like he still wanted to stop his father, but stopped himself, wiping away his tears.
Katsuro also had concern over the after effects of using the Inner Gates. The First to Third Gates would put significant strain on the human body, and now Duy had pushed so far to the Sixth. Still, he wanted to see how far he could go.
Duy, once again, was set on displaying his strength and passion, and in doing so, decided to push his body even further. Again he returned to his Inner Gate position. Guy realising what was about to happen cried out, "PAPA! NO!"
Duy didn't seem to hear.
I don't know if I can go any further. My muscles and bones are becoming even more damaged and broken by the second. No- I WILL NOT SUCCUMB! IN THE NAME OF MY PRIDE, MY YOUTH, AND GUY, I WILL PREVAIL!
Even panting heavily, he yelled:
"EIGHT INNER GATES! SEVENTH GATE: GATE OF WONDER! OPEN!"
A deep aura of blue flooded and swept around Duy's body. He stood up and wasted no time in rushing towards Katsuro at an impossible speed.
What is this power? His presence is tearing apart the ground! To think he developed this himself…His chakra levels are nearly Kage level- I bet he could even beat a few weaker Kage! He has undoubtedly gained my respect. Such a Shinobi, only a Genin…it seems like I'm going to have to try much harder now…Katsuro frowned, then smiled as he surged forward, meeting Duy head on.
