Iris and Ling Yan continued to walk further north into the fog. The temperature got chiller and chiller the further they went. They were forced to put on thicker clothes to resist the frost bites and reduce the bruises from bumping into trees.
After what seemed like eternity, Iris finally spotted the Pavilion gate. She immediately strengthened her resolve as she carried the almost half dead Ling Yan with much difficulty towards the gate!.
She was in a terrible shape. She had multiple bruises and poison infected wounds all over her body. The strong and cold assassin from the twenty first century was reduced into looking as pale as a sheet of paper!.
"You made it!" Xiu Mei yelled happily and rushed to help her with Ling Yan.
Iris immediately sagged in relief. She dropped to the cold floor and sat in a half lotus position and forced the poison out of herself using whatever spirit qi she had left. She ended up vomiting a mouthful of black blood!.
"Are...we accepted n..now?" She asked weakly.
"Yes" the guardian answered while decending from the sky like a supreme being.
"Guardian" Xiu Mei greeted respectfully.
Iris raised her head to say something, only to fall into a dead faint!.
A few days after their return, Iris and Ling Yan were fully nursed back to full health.
"The holy son and Guardian wishes to see you both" Ye Shan informed with a slight smile which he really showed.
"Alright" Iris says simply.
She and Ling Yan follows after Ye Shan into a majestic looking courtyard.
"Your disciple pays respect to master the sovereign and Holy son of the Sage pavilion and his son, the guardian" Ye Shan bows respectfully while Iris and Ling Yan offered a deep bow.
"Good, good, hahaha not bad at all" the white haired old man with commanding presence chuckled.
"Sovereign, these are the new candidates" the guardian says.
"You brat! Why won't you just call me Father!" The sovereign said.
"You're my master and the sovereign. It is not right to address you as father in serious situations like this" the guardian replies simply.
"Just because I am your master, doesn't mean I am not your father!" The sovereign argues.
"Ehn... master, guardian, the candidates are still here" Ye Shan reminds.
"Right! Now tell me brat, who's more suitable to be your new junior?" The sovereign asked his son.
"The girl. She's strong, she should be able to endure the suffering attached to being your disciple." The guardian said.
"Wei Ming! What suffering are you talking about?! I always dote on all my disciples" the sovereign defends using the guardian's name.
"Aiye! I won't argue with a cub Like you." The sovereign said dismissively.
"What are your names" the sovereign asked.
"I am Ling Yan, grandSon of the Ling Family head" Ling Yan introduced with a bow.
"Ling Family, quite a reputable family" the sovereign comments and gestures for Iris to introduce herself.
"I am Long Xu lan, Lord sovereign." Iris introduced.
"Long Xu lan, I'll call you Little Lan from now on, oh and you are my last disciple." The sovereign declared and walked away.
"Congratulations Miss Long, you deserve this." Ling Yan said with a genuine smile on his handsome features.
"Thank you...but what About you?" Iris Asks.
"Ling Yan, my aunt, the sage Pavilion's elder needs a disciple. She has never taken a disciple so you will be her first. What do you say?" The guardian Wei Ming, asks.
"I'll be honoured to be the elder's disciple" Ling Yan happily said.
He thought he would be pushed off to the outer sect knowing that Iris had impressed not only the guardian, but also the Sovereign by forcing herself to not just pass the test, but also drag him along too. She was very brave and he knew she deserved to be the last disciple of the Sage Pavilion's Holy son. He was genuinely happy to be chosen to be the only elder's disciple.
"Lucky you" Iris teased, something she only did to her younger brother Long Chen.
"Not as lucky as you." Ling Yan says and nudged her shoulder with his.
"Where's my darling nephew?!" The Voice of a woman booms from outside before she stepped in.
"Aunt!" The guardian calls out and goes to meet his Aunt Madam Jiang.
"Ah, good boy. So, you said you'd bring me a disciple, so....?" His Aunt asked.
" There he is" the guardian Wei Ming gestures at Ling Yan.
"Your disciple greets master" Ling Yan said and goes to kowtow.
"Ah, such a good boy. Rise young disciple." Madam Jiang said already showing that she has accepted Ling Yan as her disciple.
"And who is this young lady?" Madam Jiang asked eyeing Iris curiously.
"My new junior sister, Long Xu lan" Wei Ming answers simply.
"Ah, I see, that pig head father of yours still has a good eye." Madam Jiang commented about her brother with a small laugh.
"Now I have things to handle so, I'll get going" Madam Jiang said and patted her nephew on the cheek dotingly.
"Come young disciple." She continues for Ling Yan to respectfully walk behind her.
Iris looked on quietly as her first ever friend leaves to start his cultivation with the elder somewhere that was not around her and she felt somewhat lonely again. She felt lonely for the first time after she separated from her mother and younger brother. Something she never felt in her previous life were she was marely an asset to her father and a weapon to her organization.
"You can go see him sometimes" Ye Shan offers comfort unlike himself.
"My Aunt is kind and understanding. She'll let you visit your friend" Wei Ming said simply before walking away. Leaving Iris and Ye Shan.
"Let's go tell the others and give you a proper welcome, down the mountain" Ye Shan said with a faint smile.
