We finally found Gyrus in the wasteland area and now we can battle him. I don't know if we're strong enough to win against him or not, but Big Sister Wave trained us before. Her training is a bit brute since we haven't slept for a whole night. I think it's worth trying after that hard work. I don't want to lose after all of this.
Gyrus speaks in a cold tone like usual, "I see… So it's you again. What do you want?"
Lunette answers him with a smile on her face, "Of course, we want to beat you." Though, she is just trying to keep her confident as much as she can.
He takes a step towards us, and so we are. The tension is very heavy, all of us didn't let our guards down as if there is any slight chance we will get ourselves killed. No one looks away even for a second as if our life is at risk. Lunette's smirk falters now and she is just staring at him and inspecting him if he makes any movement. My gaze is also focused on him as we stare at each other. It feels like we are the hunters but also the prey at the same time.
Lunette speaks at him again like taunting him, "What? No chatting first? I think we should introduce ourselves first."
Gyrus finally speaks up again with the same emotionless, cold tone, "Gyrus."
I speak as well with a wary tone, "Luna."
Lunette sighs and speaks up again, "Lunette, the one who will beat you."
The pressure is so hard and the air is so thick as if it will break my lungs. I can hardly relax or control my breath. My hands start sweating as well as my face. I can feel my heart beating so fast and very hard, I can even hear my own heart and it's so noisy right now. I just stretch my fingers by opening it and closing it nervously.
I moved my leg a bit to prepare myself, but right after I moved it Gyrus quickly dashed towards us. I was surprised by his sudden action and quickly jumped back to make some distance. This time, Gyrus pulls out his great sword and strikes the ground with his full power, then BOOM! Gladly, we managed to dodge it right before it hit us, but a giant hole appeared. He's so scary! I don't know how much life I need to defeat him alone, but I must try!
His strike almost landed in my face. If I wasn't quick enough, probably my head already splitted into two. Lunette quickly wields her sword and tries to attack him. Her quick response almost gets him since his sword is big and heavy. However, Gyrus uses his sword to defend himself. He hides behind his sword that landed on the ground without pulling it. His movements are efficient, almost no useless movement.
I quickly supported Lunette to try to stab him, but I failed again. He dodged it by twirling his body while pulling off his sword. He gives me no time to compose myself and quickly strikes me again. Thanks to Lunette, she was able to change his attack's direction using her sword. I quickly made some distance to stay away from him. His stance doesn't give me any chance to attack him.
Gyrus speaks again with his cold tone, but this time almost heard like a mock, "Are you done already? After two against one?"
Lunette grits her teeth and speaks back with an annoyed tone, "Shut up! It's still warming up!"
I whispers to Lunette that seems like she was taunted by him, "Lunette, I think we shoul-"
She doesn't listen to me and dashes towards him with full speed. Gyrus smirks a bit, but his demeanor is still cold as ever. Lunette dwells her sword right in front of him to attack him.
"Etheria Style Sword Technique: Star Cross," she says while holding her sword.
She slashes him by making a star shape cut at him. But she was stopped by Gyrus in the middle of her action. Gyrus uses the weight of his sword to make her sword stuck in the ground, and his plan is going well. I quickly jumped from Lunette's back and tried to attack him.
"Etheria Style Sword Technique: StarFall," I said while holding my sword over my head.
I tried to cut him into two, though I know I only just need to cut the badge. I used all of my body weight to increase my power from above. But, Gyrus seems like he predicted it and used his magic to create a barrier to block my attack on her head. Lunette, who doesn't want to lose, uses another technique again at him.
"Etheria Style Martial Art Technique: Asteroid Crush," Lunette says while closing her distance against him.
Lunette locks his arm and twirls her body to kick his stomach using her knee very hard, but Gyrus' barrier just automatically appears to block it again. It's not fair! His magic is too handy, almost like we can't do anything about it! It's not like we're weak, it's only about his magic that is cheating! It can appear anytime and anywhere around him?
Gyrus swings his sword to blow up the ground to blind us. Swoosh! The sand quickly flies and fills the air to cover our visions. I can't help but jump back pretty far so the sand won't reach me, and Lunette does the same thing with me. Really? We are together while he's alone. Only if we can win easily against him.
I spoke to Lunette with a slightly upset tone, "Come on, Lunette, can't you just listen to me for once?"
She spoke back to me with a defending tone, "Shut up, Luna! Let me do this and you have to support me!"
I couldn't help but get upset at her and shouted at her, "Why do you think we can't win against him even though we are together?! Why are you so annoying?!"
She was surprised a bit at me since I raised my voice, but she also shouted at me again, "Shut up, Luna! Do you think I'm weaker than him?!"
We continued our banter in the middle of a fight, and Gyrus doesn't look like he cares at all. She's such a pain whenever she gets too excited. Why are we so different as twins? Gyrus dashes towards us and strikes his sword from above us, not giving us any time to bicker even for a second. It landed on the ground and his attack was very heavy. There is a hole created on the ground by his attack, we can tell how strong he is. Though, he didn't stop only with that, he continued to swing his heavy sword at us without showing any mercy. He looks like a devil right now, so evil.
Lunette speaks up at him with an upset tone, "Hey! Can't you see us having a talk right now?!"
I spoke to her again, "Can we just stop our banter and just work together?!"
We jump aside as we continue to dodge him. Gyrus uses his magic to create a barrier around me and restricts my movements. He looks like a bull right now, attacking us with a heavy attack and if he misses, he launches another attack at us until he successfully lands an attack at us. I use my magic to create a wall made of ice to defend me from his attack. But his attack is too strong so he crushes the wall. It's a miracle that it stopped right in front of my face. I think I'm right to create more ice to stop his attack. I quickly jumped back to Lunette's side.
Gyrus speaks up again to us, "Are you always running away like this whenever you fight? You look like a rabbit. Running away won't defeat your enemy." His tone sounded like a mock.
I speak to Lunette again, trying to convince her, "Lunette, please, listen to me. I don't think we can defeat him, even if we are together. If we can't do it for sure together, how can we defeat him alone?"
She refuses to listen to me and says, "I won't admit if there's anyone stronger than us except Big Sister Wave!"
Ugh… Why doesn't she listen to me for once? I can't help but really get more annoyed by her attitude now. I know she is looking up at big sister, but we need to work together to defeat him. Why can't she understand that we need to work together?
I can't help but shout at her with an upset tone, "I reached my limit!! Just admit that he's way stronger than you, dumbass!! If you can defeat him alone, we won't have any trouble like this, you understand?!"
She seemed surprised as I shouted at her. I know, it's not the first time, but it's not like I'm always doing this. She's such a pain, why is she so stubborn? Maybe if she's as strong as Big Sister Wave she won't get in any trouble, but she's not. We continue to dodge Gyrus' attacks as we have a banter. His attacks are getting heavier and heavier than before, it seems like he's a person that uses power at anything.
I let out a small "tsk" through my lips and said to her, "Enough of this, just step back and leave this to me." I quickly ran towards Gyrus to attack him.
She is surprised by me and shouts at me, "Wait! What do you mean by that!"
I wield my sword to attack Gyrus, though there is no attack that is able to reach him. I jumped and tried to attack him from above, but his barrier kept blocking my attack. His barrier is too annoying, always blocking the attacks from my direction. His barrier is small, but too strong to break.
I shouted at Lunette with an annoyed tone while trying to attack Gyrus, "You're just bothering me, you deadweight!"
Gyrus deflects my attack and makes me a bit shocked. He's trying to swing his sword against my body, preparing his sword from his waist then almost strikes me on my chest. My eyes widened as his attack almost hit me, it feels like the world has stopped for a while. Before it hits me, Lunette uses her magic to throw a barrage of fireballs against him to blind him for a while with the smoke. I quickly take a huge step back, just enough to stay away from him for a while.
Lunette sighs and speaks again to me with a surrender tone, "Fine, maybe you're right. He's much stronger than I think."
I speak again with a relieved tone, "Good. You're such a pain when you're so stubborn, you know?"
She speaks at me again with a smirk on her face as she tries to mock me again, "You too, you know? Such a stubborn little sister."
I speak to her with a small blush appearing on my face, "Hey! We're at the same age!"
Seems like I can finally convince her, but I don't know how to defeat him yet. We continue attacking him and vice versa. I just support Lunette from behind using my magic. Gyrus' shadow appears from the smoke and he clears it by swinging his sword then dashes towards us again like a bull. I create some ice shurikens and throw it towards him while Lunette tries to attack him with her blue flame covered sword. Gyrus continues to parry all of our attacks, he uses his feet as a support then twirls his body before swinging his sword against Lunette then breaking her defense.
Lunette blocks his attack with her sword, but his power is too strong. She bounced back pretty far even though she didn't get any heavy damage. I quickly support her by attacking Gyrus again with my ice shurikens, but his barrier is always blocking my attacks from all directions. He just continues running at Lunette like nothing happened. That magic is so unfair! His barrier appears from all directions, even his blind spot. His barrier is small, but thick almost like an iron shield. It doesn't look like the barrier that protected all of him before.
After a while, I noticed that there was a bit of scattered ice on his shoulder. Even if it's only a small piece of ice, doesn't it mean my attacks worked before? I think his magic isn't as invincible as I thought.
Now I think, why didn't he cover all of his body every time if his magic was completely invincible. Maybe that explains why his barrier is small when we use a focused attack at him. Probably he needs to focus his magic at one place to make it as thick as he can so his barrier will be unbreakable. I don't know how to overcome this problem for now though. Gyrus swings his sword and clears the smoke from his surroundings.
"Lunette, as the older one, do you have any plans?" I whisper to her with a slight worried tone.
She answers me while sticking out her tongue, "Sorry to disappoint you, my sister, but I don't know yet. I know how his magic works, but his response is pretty quick."
Right, his response is really quick. If not, how could he use that small, thick barrier and block our every attack? He's accurate as well and precise. Such a noble student, I don't know if there is anyone better than him as a student. Though, there is no time to think about it right now.
Lunette whispers to me again with a serious face, "Luna, which plan do you think will work?"
I was surprised and confused at the same time, "What do you mean by which plan? All of your plans are just to play, right?"
She smirks and speaks to me again, "Or maybe we can."
I sigh and try to think of some plans that might work, "How about we attack him from front and behind?"
Lunette speaks again, "You mean 'the mirror' plan?"
Ugh… That's so embarrassing, how can she say it without any embarrassment? Is her shame veins broken? Even to scream about my technique is too embarrassing for me.
Lunette speaks to me, "Then, let's spread now."
I can't help but be surprised and look at her, "Wha- Wait!"
She just runs to the right like there is no problem at all, maybe she wants to attack him from the right. Gyrus is just standing without moving while staring at her with a cold glare. I quickly run to the left and try to stand by from the opposite direction. Gyrus dashes towards Lunette with full speed, he doesn't give her any slight chance to react. Lunette quickly uses her sword to block his attack, but her sword just bounced because Gyrus' great sword is too strong and so unmoving. Clank! Her arm immediately feels tingling as a result.
What do you think? A katana can't win against a great sword, and my long sword was customized to my body so it's not that strong. Our swords are just more focusing on speed than strength.

She finally breaks his barrier at the second slash and about to launch the third attack at him on his body. Gyrus was surprised as Lunette was able to break his barrier and let his guard down a little. Though, he quickly wields his sword to cover himself from her attack and puts his body behind his great sword.
During that time I launched an attack at him from behind with my sword really quickly. I used my magic to cover my sword with ice then attacked his barrier and a huge ice appeared as I landed a strike at his barrier. Gyrus is okay, since he quickly uses his barrier to protect himself from my attack. Damn, I was so close to giving him any damage.
He composes himself then swings his sword to my body, but Lunette intervenes again from behind. She tries to attack him from behind while using his magic.
"Etheria Style Katana Technique: Clear Sky," she says while holding her sword that sheathed in her waist.
The world suddenly feels so silent, and everything feels like it stopped in the middle of action. The only one who's moving is Lunette with her sword. Everything turns into black and white as if the colors have gone from this world. I can see Lunette's hands are slowly moving.
She immediately swung her sword then put it back in the sheath very fast, it's hard to see her attack. I mean, that was one of the most deadly and fastest techniques in katana technique. She swings her sword from the sheath and puts it back before no one notices it like nothing happened. She cut Gyrus' barrier into two, though her attack needed some time before she attacked again since her sword is in her sheath. Gyrus, who lets his guard down, quickly takes this chance to attack Lunette from above using his sword. I was trying to cover her, but Gyrus noticed me so he covered his hand with a barrier and punched me far way back. Then, he continues to attack Lunette using his sword from above.
Lunette dodges the attack by spinning her body aside and countering his attack, but Gyrus kicks her in her stomach and sends her flying. That was so painful! Of course, for both of us! He sends us flying too far, you know! I can't help but cough as we endure the pain, he's too much stronger as a student. All over my body feels tingling and the pain is spreading in my body like after drinking a poison.
He speaks to us with a cold tone as ever, "You both are weak, but I'll admit that you both are annoying. That was a miracle you were able to break my barrier, there is no second chance."
Just that? After all of this? I think we need something more than this to take him down, but what? If we can't win against his power, maybe we need to win against his speed. Big sister taught us that we can use anything around us to defeat our enemies. And Lunette… She is just lying over there, not even trying to get up. Is she joking around again? At this moment?
Gyrus speaks again, but this time I can hear a slight annoyed tone from his voice, "Are you both done already? How pathetic, just stop this already and let me finish this."
Me and Lunette are trying to get up and face him one more time. I think we already know about his magic. His response is accurate, precise, and fast, we need to do something about that. To be honest, I don't think Lunette can do something in this condition.
Big Sister Wave taught me to use some weapons, but I don't really know which one is the best in this situation. I start thinking about what we can do right now. Lunette dashes towards Gyrus one more time while I'm looking for any plans. We have to win in terms of speed, but he is quite fast as well even with his great sword. Lunette keeps attacking him with her sword and magic, but all of her attacks don't work on him. Gyrus keeps blocking all of her attacks with his barrier and his sword.
Lunette is running as if she's trying to make some distance from Gyrus. On the other hand, Gyrus is chasing Lunette from behind before they start clashing again. Lunette throws some fireballs at him while keeping her sword covered by her blue flame. After a while, Lunette strengthens her magic and she creates bigger fireballs at him. Gyrus was surprised by her action, but he quickly focused all of her barriers in one place. His focused barrier is still unbreakable, but now Lunette's fireball is able to reach him even if it doesn't give him fatal damage. Lunette, she's quite a talented person and strong. She's always reading everything around her quickly, but she is almost using it to make some problems.
Finally, Gyrus takes some damage from Lunette. He was knocked back by her attacks and her sleeve got burned and he quickly ripped it and threw it before the entire of his uniform got burnt. Gyrus grits his teeth and he seems pretty annoyed at Lunette.
Gyrus speaks up with an upset tone, he looks very angry after getting hit by Lunette's magic. He says, "How dare you hit me with your magic, worm?!"
Lunette speaks with a smirk on her face, "Wow, you never got hit, huh? I think I'm stronger than you now." Her smile widens like mocking him after knowing her attack can now reach him.
Gyrus speaks at her again with anger in his tone, "Shut up!! I won't admit this!! I can't let anyone defeat me!! Not before I can find the Book of Origin!!"
Book of Origin? Does he have something to do with that book? I think that book gives us more trouble than I think. The Guild Master wants us to find the book, and I think I want to find it as well to find who the assassin is. But what after that? What will I do after we find the book? It's not like we want to use it for peace or keep the world balanced like the first hero as well.
I can't help but mumbles a bit while confused, "the Book of Origin?"
Gyrus shoots his glare at me. His glare is cold as always, but this time there is a hint of anger even stronger than before he's reacting to the words, "How do you know about that book?! Don't you dare to say it again in front of me!! That book is… THAT BOOK IS!!"
"Hey, hey, calm down, don't do a flashback while we're in a fight." Lunette speaks at him as she tries to stop Gyrus.
What is she thinking? That is not gonna work at all, instead it will make him angrier than before. Is she crazy or something? This is why I don't like someone like her. Gyrus sighs a bit and seems calmed down even though he's still upset with us who bring up that book. Really? Is it working? I don't know which one is right or which one is wrong anymore.
Gyrus speaks up again at us, still with his slight angry tone, "Long ago…"
I stop him again and say, "She told you to stop, doesn't she?!"
He continues speaking and telling what happened to him before even after we told him to stop, "Long ago, my father treated me so badly and roughly. He's the one who is responsible for my big sister's death. Not only that, my mother was treated so badly too by him, but she kept resisting it for me."
We both fell silent, I never thought we would continue to listen to him in the middle of the fight. I think he's lucky to have us as his enemies, if not maybe he's already beaten in the middle of his story.
Then, he continues speaking, "One day, a tragedy occurred in our mansion. One of our maids suddenly becomes crazy and starts attacking everything in front of her. The mansion is destroyed, she killed my father with her magic and her skin is turning paler and paler each second. Her skin is peeled off from her body and going crazy, no one can stop her. Lunette nodded at me and answered, "What's your plan?"
I spoke to her again with a slight doubt in my voice, "I think we need to use some kind of surprise to win against him." To be honest, I don't really think if this is going to work, but it's better than letting Lunette drain her mana.
Lunette just nodded and spoke again, "I see. I'll support you then if anything happens. I'll attack him first!"
She charges towards Gyrus and wields her sword against him while throwing some fireballs at him. Gyrus charges as well and blocks all of her attacks with his barrier, though he can't focus his barrier in one place so there is some time that she breaks his barrier. Meanwhile, I just kneel down and prepare myself to support Lunette if she needs my help.
Both of them are really stubborn, no one wants to lose and their spirit keeps pushing them to their limits. I can tell if Lunette is going to run out of mana, maybe it will be dangerous if she keeps fighting like that. She keeps throwing a barrage of fireballs at him while swinging her sword. I know it works, but she's draining her mana more than I expected, I know if she understands her current situation. She's exhausted and it's burdening her body even more, I think it's the time to help her.
Lunette falls to her knee and is completely exhausted by using her magic nonstop. Gyrus doesn't give her any time to recover herself and quickly swings his sword from above at Lunette's head. I quickly run towards them and kick Gyrus' sword to change its direction before it hits Lunette. He was surprised by my sudden presence, but he composed himself and prepared to strike me with his sword. I block his sword, but then he punches me using his other hand that is covered by his barrier. At that time, I spin my body to dodge the attack and pull out Liric, a sky blue gun, from the back of my waist with my left hand. After I dodged his punch, I composed myself and aimed at him from my back before firing my gun at him.
"Etheria Style Shooting Technique: Aurora Shot," I say as I pull the trigger and shoot a quick magic bullet at him using my gun.
He seemed surprised by my sudden attack and unable to dodge it or block it with his sword. My attack hits him in his stomach and knocks him back, giving us some distance. Of course he will be surprised, no one knows if I'm hiding the other weapon. Though, I wasn't good enough to use a gun for now so I don't know how much it works.
Gyrus shoots me with a surprised look and speaks with a confused tone, "A gun? I thought you're a close combat fighter."
I spoke to him with a serious tone and serious look, "To be honest, my big sister taught me to be able to use every weapon, even though I'm not really good at this one. Just yet."
Gyrus seems surprised even more and starts muttering to himself with a confused look, "No, it can't be happening. I'm the strongest student in this city, no one can beat me. And why can an unnamed person like you can hit me?! Why are you both always bothering me?!"
Huh? Are we bothering him? That's ridiculous, he's the one who is messing with us. I can't help but be angry at his behavior, I don't think I will give him mercy anymore. I think this is the time to end all of this.
Lunette who's laying on the ground speaks up to me, "Luna, I never thought you would use a gun. I guess our little Luna is now stronger, huh?"
I speak to her again with a slight smirk, "Shut up, I don't want to hear that from you. I'm not sure about using my gun at first."
She chuckles a bit and answers me again, "Right. I can't have my twin little sister surpass me, right?"
I shoot Gyrus with a cold glare and vice versa. I aimed my gun at him while still holding my sword in my other hand. He's aiming his sword at me again while creating a barrier to cover half of his body. Seems like he's now really serious as well as me. Maybe this battle will be the big one in Phantasia, even though I doubt it by myself. It's rare for students to use a gun. They need a lot of mana, after all. No wonder he was surprised when he saw one.
I spoke to him with a serious tone, "Round two. I won't hold back anymore."
He growls a bit and shouts at me again, "HOW DID YOU GET THAT GUN?!"
I spoke to him again while keep aiming at him, "My parents gave me this when I was a kid. What do you want to do with my Liric?"
I can tell that he's not happy with my weapon. I don't know why, but he seems displeased with my gun. It's not like I want him to like me too. In fact, I really hate him. I don't think showing my gun is a good idea, he seems angrier after I pulled out my gun.
Gyrus grits his teeth again and speaks to me, "Enough of this, I'll beat you now!!"
He dashes towards me with his full speed as he wields his sword against me. I take a big step back before firing my gun again. I tried to keep my distance against him with Liric, my gun. He keeps running towards me, blocking all the attacks with his barrier and after he is a few steps in front of me, he spins his body and swings his sword at me. I quickly use my sword to change the attack direction of his. I can't completely block his attack, but at least it won't hit my body. After I changed the direction of his attack, I quickly shot my gun again at him.
"Etheria Style Shooting Technique: Aurora Shot," I said as I shot him.
I shot him with a quick shot with my bullet that was made from mana. It's a bullet from my mana, so it contains my ice magic. Gun is a mid ranged weapon that uses mana as its bullet. The bullet contains the user's magic and has the user's magic effect. In this case, my bullet can freeze my enemy just like my magic itself. My bullet reached his stomach and froze a bit of his body. Bullets are faster than magic since we don't need to cast magic. He grunts a bit, but he continues to attack me with his sword. Really, he looks like a wild animal right now.

The technique that lets out a single and quick bullet but is pretty hard. It was the most balanced technique between strength and speed. He uses his magic to form a bullet from his barrier and shoots me with it. Really? He can do that now? His magic is completely cheating! I shoot all of his barriers using my bullets. All of our bullets are clashing and it keeps going for a while with perfect accuracy. In this case, his magic isn't a barrier anymore, but a creativity magic! He can almost use his barrier to form anything he wants!
After a while, Gyrus stops and charges towards me and lands a punch to the ground. I avoided it and swung my sword at his head, though it was blocked by his magic. The sand is blocking my vision, I can't see anything clearly! He spun his body and took a step forward before swinging his sword against me. I used my magic to create three walls made of ice to protect myself, though his attack is so powerful. He destroyed two of the three walls and almost broke the third wall. I quickly noticed as he's trying to pull out his sword.
"No, you can't!" I say as I make more ice to keep his sword stuck in the wall of ice.
It seemed difficult to take out his sword so he chose to leave his sword. He's now trying to do a close combat with me. I tried to land an attack at him using my sword, but he kicked my sword pretty hard and made me throw my sword. My sword is flying in the middle of the air, out of my reach. I can't make it end here.
"IS THAT ALL YOU HAVE?! DID YOUR TEACHER TOLD YOU TO RELEASE YOUR SWORD IN A FIGHT?!" He asks me with an angry tone after throwing my sword away from me.
Ugh… My sword is out of reach. He's going to punch me again with his left hand, and I'm in the middle of the air so I can't dodge it.
"YOU'RE DONE!!" He shouts at me while trying to land a punch at my body.
I'm done? IN YOUR DREAM!! I pull out Eirys, my other gun with dark blue color, pretty quick and fire him again with both of my guns. I can feel I am becoming more like Lunette a little. Maybe she influenced me a little bit since we've been together from the day we were born.
"Etheria Style Shooting Technique: Aurora Barrage," I said as I aimed both of my guns at him.
I let out a barrage of bullets to his body like a rain, leaving him no room to dodge. Though, he won't have time to use his magic to block my attacks. After all, guns are faster than magic in a middle ranged fight. The bullets are dazzling in the air and crushing his barrier slowly but surely. This technique is draining my magic pretty much, but it has a great opportunity to limit his movements and hit him in different places on his body.
"Another gun?!" He asked me while trying to avoid my attack, though there is no time for that.
I answered him in the middle of the air as I continued to shoot him with my guns, "Do you have any business with my Liric and Eirys?"
Half of his body is covered by ice as a result of my attack. I don't know how but he seemed able to block my attacks that lead to his chest. I think he's not eliminated yet, I can see the barrier that is protecting his badge on his chest.
I cough a bit because I'm overusing my magic. There is a slight dew that appeared from my mouth. I think I'm overheating right now. I need to calm down a bit. It will be good if he can't move for a while. Right after I said that, he tried to move his body and break free from the ice. Maybe that's too good to be true. Just let me rest for a while, you monster!
Gyrus speaks to me with a soft annoyed tone, "What's wrong with those guns? A sword and two guns, you're so unpredictable."
I spoke to him again with a cold tone, "Liric and Eirys, my twin guns that my father gave me when I was nine years old."
Gyrus spoke to me again with an annoyed tone, "HOW DARE YOU TO USE MY MOTHER'S GUNS?!"
I can't help but get mad at him, "What do you mean by that? These guns were my parents' presents long ago. Not only hurting my friends but my guns as well?"
What does he mean by his mother's guns? Was his mother the one who made it? Damnit, his sentences always stop in the middle so I can't gather the information clearly.
Lunette who's laying on the ground laughs, "I see…How greedy of you. And what after her guns? Her sword?"
Gyrus huffs and speaks, "Her sword? No, I don't want her sword, too weak even for an amateur."
Really? After all of this and now he's underestimating my sword? I really, really hate him so much now.
I aimed both of my guns at him again and said, "Final round. Let's end this now."
He nodded and answered me, "Agree, let's show who's the strongest."
He dashes towards me with his full speed and he's trying to blow some punches towards me. I jumped back and fired my gun at him, shooting some bullets at him. Though, he knows my trick now so he puts a barrier in front of him to block the bullets. He looks like an unstoppable wild animal that only charges forward. He lost his mind! I think I made a mistake!
He punches me on my stomach and sends me flying. After that, he jumps to chase me again in the air. I tried to move my body to dodge it, but in the end, I just barely dodge it. I almost got hit in my right waist, just a few millimetres left and I'm done. I took a comfortable position, at least able to aim my guns and shoot him. I turn my body upside down in the air and shoot him with my guns. Right after he blocks the first attack, I shoot the second attack to his face. Before he knocked back, he made his time to kick my left waist. We both got hit by each other and fell to the ground. I can't help but cough as his attack landed on me.
Oh my god, that's so painful even for me. My waist becomes blue and I can feel a bruise appear on my left waist. The color is so thick and I feel like I got hit by a heavy weapon like a war hammer.
We run towards each other and we both are doing a close combat fight. I try to fire my gun to his face, but he avoids it and blows a punch. I use my leg to block his attack, but he blows a punch using his other hand that is covered by his barrier. His attack landed on my body, but I tried to resist it then fired my guns at his chest. It's so painful, each of his attacks is almost similar to a bull's attack. We both bounced into different directions. He's still not eliminated yet, and his barrier is still protecting his badge. Such a cheater, I think I'm gonna end this right now.
Gyrus starts chasing me again and blows a barrage of punches at me. I avoid it by jumping aside, but he continues to chase me and make me have no choice except keep jumping while firing my guns at him. I can tell his body starts getting exhausted judging by his labored breath. His movements are slower as well than before, but he's still attacking me like it's nothing. To be honest, I'm in the same position as him. My body is heavy after using lots of mana. I almost can't breathe anymore since I keep jumping and running around nonstop, spinning my body so he can't hit me. Everything will be over if he lands a hit on me and I think we reached our limits right now.
At some point, his movements stopped as his punch landed on the ground. Probably, he can't do it anymore. Without thinking anymore, I fired my guns at him, but he seems like he knows what I'm gonna do. Damnit, I think I fell into his trap. He spins his body to kick me while my bullets hit him, but he just lets me attack him while continuing to kick me. Is he crazy or something? His body is almost frozen, normally people won't be able to move as much as him after having their body covered by ice. His body is almost all white like snow and her movements are much slower than before.
Time feels like it's stopping right now, every movement feels very slow on us as we keep attacking each other. This is the determination who will win this fight. The tense feels so heavy. One wrong move and one of us will lose. His punch almost landed on my badge, and so is my gun. I just need to pull the trigger really quick and make him eliminated. He seems like he's ignoring his defense and focusing on attack. Once we're near the end, BOOM! Right before our attacks landed at each other's badges, someone showed up and used his magic towards us and eliminated us.
"HUH?!" We both said in unison with a surprised face.
The person seems like he's the only one left from Redione Academy. She uses her magic to make some wind slashes and cuts our badges in no time. Then, the last competition of Phantasia is over with the defeat of me and Gyrus.
The MC starts his broadcast again, "IT'S OVER!! IT'S ALL OVER!! WHO'S THE PERSON WHO DEFEAT BOTH OF THEM?! HE RUINED THEIR FIGHT, BUT!! BUT!! THIS IS A BATTLE ROYALE, SO WE ACCEPT THIS RESULT!!"
We both…Actually, three of us were transferred into the waiting room. I woke up beside Lunette with a smirk on her face. I can't help but be frustrated after knowing I failed to beat him. Lunette pats my back, maybe she's trying to comfort me after we lost our battle. To be honest, I don't know who's the person that intervened us in the middle of the fight. I was only able to see he's wearing a Redione Academy's uniform. Well, I think I was doing my best so maybe I can let it go.
Lunette is unable to hold back her laugh again, "I can never forget his angry face! That was the best part in this competition! I never expect you will make him angry like that! HAHA!"
Leo chimes in and chuckles again, "Agree, this is the first time I saw him very mad like that. Quite funny for me."
I nodded and giggled a bit as well. The atmosphere in the room lightens as we continue to joke with each other. Rena seems to be having fun as well while waiting beside Nio that is laying on the bed. He is still unconscious right now, and we don't know how long he will be like this. Ray laughs as well after watching our performance before.
I noticed something weird before I spoke back to them, "By the way, how did Leo get eliminated?" And I forgot about Lunette, but probably the person eliminated her as well before me.
All of us fell silent and looked at Leo with a confused look. Right, he's strong, but how did he get eliminated in the first place? I heard that he fought many students at the same time alone. Is someone who beat him stronger than him? That's unbelievable.
Leo giggles for a while before telling us about it, "Fufu, the last one got me though. He's very strong, even stronger than me."
What? I can tell he's lying judging by his response. Well, I don't know what's going on inside his head too so it's just wasting my time guessing what he's thinking right now. Rena and Ray look at him with disbelief as well. Their eyes widens and their mouths are hanging in disbelief. On the other hand, Lunette continues laughing louder than before like a mad person. Really, what's so funny about this? I don't understand both of them. Such a pair of weirdos.
The MC speaks with his mic again, "To all participants, please enter the arena to rank the winning academies. We will give a cup for each winning academy depending on the ranks. JUST DO IT NOW SO I CAN HAVE MY HANDSHAKE WITH NEON! MAYBE SHE HASN'T LEFT FROM THIS CITY THAT FAR YET!!"
Ugh… Here's the annoying MC again, how much is his obsession with my big sister? I think we don't have any choice except to do what he said.
We left the waiting room and we entered the arena. There are lots of students from other academies, well I don't remember how many academies that join the competition. All I remember are Redione Academy, Lionel Academy, and our Tyone Academy. All of the audience are clapping their hands in excitement after the competition reaches its end. I can hear the whole audience shouting with joyful expression and voice. I can see Big Sister Wave clapping her hands as well while standing with enthusiasm, her smile is never faltering from her face.
The first place comes to Redione Academy, the one who intervened in my battle. I completely forgot that the competition was a battle royale, I was only focusing on Gyrus and didn't pay any attention to my surroundings at that time. I can only exhale and accept this result, that was my bad.
The person comes to me after accepting the medal and says, "Well done, Luna Bluesky. Thank you for helping me deal with Gyrus before. My name is Loir, and I'm a boy."
I answered her with a confused tone, "O-okay, my name is…"
What? A boy? With that look? His bones, his arms, his legs, everything screams and keeps telling me it's a girl inside my head. Well, his uniform and haircut is truly a boy, but… How?
Loir chuckles and says again, "Well, it's not the first time so don't worry."
I'm still shocked by the sudden information from him, "I-I'm sorry. I will be careful next time."
Loir walked past towards me and back to where his academy is. I don't know what will surprise me anymore next. What's his magic by the way? I remember he's using his magic but I can't see it pretty well. Anyway, the MC will announce the second place. Surprisingly, we won second place in Phantasia.
The MC asks one of us to come forward so we can get the cup. Rena is just putting an uncomfortable smile on her face, she is probably still thinking about the way she was eliminated. Maybe she feels bad for being unable to do anything in the last competition. Though, no one in our team bothered about it. Leo is just being Leo, handing every troublesome thing to others with just a simple chuckle.
After a while, Lunette is already in front of us to get the cup. No one notices when she starts walking forward. That girl, really troublesome. How can she do that without any embarrassment? She just gets the silver cup like it's nothing. She's even joking with the MC and the guards like they're old friends. She is really a carefree girl, always makes everything easy on her but gives so many troubles to her surroundings. She might be cursed by a god of trouble, even though I'm not sure there is such a god. Then, she walks away like nothing happened. Well, no one bothered by it so I think it's okay.
The next one is Lionel, the academy that I don't wanna talk about. I really hate someone inside that academy. Of course, that person is Gyrus. He walks past me while looking at me with a cold glare before he scoffs. He seems displeased with the result. Take that!
After giving the cups to each academy, the MC calls for the winner to give them the rewards. After that, all of us go to our academy and the audience leaves the place with joy. I can hear their laugh and chatter fills the place. We went out the gate and saw Big Sister Wave was waiting for us. Lunette quickly runs towards her with a full smile on her face and hugs her.
She speaks in a prideful tone, "How was our performance? Are you proud of us?"
Big Sister Wave giggles and speaks with a teasing tone, "Huh? Proud of you? You lost to Gyrus after you kept saying you would beat him."
That's right, if I was her I would be embarrassed. Though, I'm embarrassed already with her attitude. She pouts by puffing out her cheeks. What is she doing? That doesn't make her cute at all. Of course, that won't work. Big sister laughs at her again, completely teasing her. Lunette stops pouting after knowing that didn't work. See? I told you that won't work.
Big Sister Wave speaks to me while messing with Lunette's hair, "How about we have a party? Both of you are doing your best, so we will have fun for the rest of today."
I nodded at her and answered, "O-okay. Where should we go?"
Lunette speaks up with her selfish behavior again, "Pizza!! Just pizza!!"
Big Sister Wave slaps the back of her head after she finishes her words. It's been a long time since I saw this scene. I think Lunette's nonchalant behavior never changed even a little bit. I think we will have pizza for today's dinner. Thanks to Lunette, good for her.
Lunette looks at me with a confused look then smirks again before speaking up, "What's wrong with that look, Luna? Are you jealous of me? Or maybe you don't want pizza for today's dinner? I won't give in even if it's for you."
Really now? Can someone do something to stop her? Her attitude is really a pain, if she wasn't my twin I would probably leave her on the road side. Big Sister Wave put her palm on her head as well, she was probably tired of her behavior like me. I think I'll just play along, it seems like my big sister can't control her as well. I'm sure one day she will have a problem with her current behavior.
"By the way, I almost forgot to give you both presents. Here, take this." Big Sister Wave said while handing something to us.
She hands her a pair of black gloves then pats her head. Lunette's eyes widened in excitement, almost like she couldn't believe she got those gloves as a present. She quickly wears the gloves on her hands, a pair of black gloves that cover up her hands to her elbows.
Big Sister Wave smiles at her and speaks with a soft tone, "Hm, that suits you, Lunette. Next is Luna."
Me? What will she give to me? She wraps a dark blue scarf around my neck carefully then pats my head, just like what she did to Lunette. It feels so warm and comfortable. I think I like it more than I think.
She speaks with the same tone and the same smile at me, "It suits you as well, Luna."
I speak with a soft tone while covering my mouth with the scarf, "Thank you, big sis."
She nodded and said again, "You're welcome. You're so polite, not like your twin." She glares at Lunette who's still admiring her gloves and then giggles.
We started walking to the Guild and finding an empty table to sit. Most of the stands are closing on the road side since Phantasia has finished. Almost every stand ran out of their product, it seems like they're having fun. A wind carries a sound of chatter and laughs to our ears. There was a terrible moment in Phantasia, but there were also fun moments in Phantasia too. I think not everything about Phantasia was bad. I can be friends with Leo, Nio, and Ray because of it, after all.
We continued to chat and laugh in the middle of our way to the Guild until we finally arrived. We enter the building and look around for an empty table to sit. I hope there is no trouble again like the first time we entered the Guild. There are lots of hunters in this building, many of them are looking at the request board. Maybe they're trying to search for a good quest? Though, that's none of my business. We kept walking through the hall to the lounge to have dinner. I'm always bothered like this, but why do we keep going to Guild so often just only for dinner? Don't we have other places to go to eat?
Right after we reached the lounge to take a seat on an empty table. We order food from the waiter and wait until it arrives. Maybe there won't be any trouble for now. Right after that thought crossed my mind, there is a group of hunters that starts bothering us. They look like they are targeting Big Sister Wave, this scene reminds me of the first time we entered the Guild.
One of the hunters says, "Hello, miss. Aren't you bored to have a drink with kids? We will make sure we have a fun time if you want to drink with us."
Again, the same scene as before. Why are there people like that in a Guild? The world will be destroyed even before someone uses the Book of Origin to balance the world with all these people over the world. Maybe it's just how it works.
The hunter leans in to take a closer look at Big Sister Wave and after a while, his body starts shaking in fear. Huh? I thought he would bother her and mess with her, but it looks like I'm wrong. I wonder why he stopped.
The hunter says again with a fear in his tone, "Y-you're…The person that beat us that day! It's been a few weeks and I haven't seen you, I thought we won't meet again!"
Big Sister Wave's face darkens with a scary smile on her face, "Can you go away from us? I'm having dinner with my little sisters. If you don't want to leave…" She glances at him with a cold, sharp look like she can kill him anytime then continues her words, "I'll make you regret your decision."
The group of hunters are quickly running away from her vision in fear. They're in the same party? I don't remember them in my memory. I'm bad at remembering people's faces after all. I take a spoonful of my food and put it in my mouth while looking in their direction. Hm? This food is tasty, what kind of food is this?
Big Sister Wave sighed and she talked to us, "Both of you, don't be like that, okay? By the way, you are both still kids so don't touch alcohol, okay?"
Of course, who will touch alcohol in our ages? I looked at Lunette and vice versa in confusion. Glad she doesn't do anything stupid right now. Then, we continued our meal again. After a while, the Guild Master enters the room and sits beside Big Sister Wave. She seems surprised as well while looking at him with a confused look.
The Guild Master speaks to her with a stern voice, "What? Got any problem, Wa- Neon?"
Big sister sighs and speaks back at him, "Of course there is a problem. Why do you just sit here like nothing happened?"
Right, I'm curious about it too. Though, I can't help but feel safe around him. His aura is so scary and intimidating, but somehow there is a slight comfort that I can feel from him. He treats us so nicely, after all.
Lunette speaks up with her mouth full of food, "Guild Master, what do you want from us? Want to join our party after Phantasia?"
The Guild Master laughs at her and then speaks with a serious face, "Right. I've been watching your performance and you both can treat me like a family member. Call me 'Dad' now."
Lunette without protesting or hesitating speaks with full excitement, "Dad!!"
The Guild Master laughs and Big Sister Waves pouts a bit, but she can't hold it for long and finally gives in to her laughter. All of them are laughing at the table like a family. This feeling is so comforting and warm.
The Guild Master stops but still chuckles a bit, "That was a joke, but really. If you don't mind, you can treat me like a father. I was the one who helped Wave raise you two after you lost your parents."
Father, huh? I think I kind of miss the day before that tragedy. I miss my dad, and my mom. I know there is nothing I can do, but it feels so sucks. My head feels so heavy and my vision is blurry. I can feel my heartbeat getting faster. I don't think I can think clearly right now, but I think now is better than before. Am I getting stronger?
Lunette pats my back to give me some comfort. She smiles at me, she's telling me that I don't need to worry about anything. Really, she can be very caring when she wants. We continued joking, chatting to each other, and having fun.
