Chapter 84: Encounter
Although he wasn't flying himself, standing on Torao's back gave Genichi a thrilling sense of riding the wind. Mainly, the view was vast, the sky and the earth were wide, and it was hard not to feel refreshed, a formless joy filling his spirit.
Torao's speed was not slow as it headed out into the deep sea.
Genichi looked down at the ocean below, saw the island of the Land of Whirlpools, and also saw, further in the distance, the small dot that was the island of the Land of Waves. Continuing east, there were many more islands, most of them uninhabited. It wasn't until a chain of small islands appeared that it indicated they were approaching the Land of Water.
Over the past few months, Genichi had actually ridden Torao to the Land of Water several times to conduct high-altitude reconnaissance. He had made some gains, at least in understanding the geography of the Land of Water better.
Suddenly, Torao let out a long cry and then dove down from the sky.
Genichi's eyesight was naturally far inferior to Torao's. It was only when they got close to the sea's surface that he could see clearly. Torao's target was a shark that was in the middle of eating a sea lion.
This was a shark about three meters in length. Torao's movements were swift. Its golden talons gripped the shark's back, and with a boom, it soared back into the air. The shark's body immediately thrashed from side to side, unleashing its powerful strength in an attempt to break free, but it was unsuccessful.
Flying high into the air, Torao lowered its head and repeatedly pecked bloody holes in the shark's head, causing it to bleed continuously. The shark's resistance grew weaker and weaker, and then it was dropped onto a deserted island by Torao, ready to be eaten.
After landing, Genichi looked at the still-twitching shark and couldn't help but praise with a smile, "Not bad, you can actually hunt a target of this size now!"
Before, Torao definitely wouldn't have been able to hunt a three-meter-long shark. Don't be fooled by the fact that it was out of the water; the strength of its initial struggle was absolutely terrifying. But nourished by his chakra, Torao's body had grown explosively, and its strength was also surging. Its future was promising.
Torao understood Genichi's praise. It raised its head and cried out twice, then lowered its head and began to eat.
Genichi did not disturb it. He leaped to the highest point of this small island. As the sea breeze blew, his chakra silently spread out into the air like ink. His perception was like a fine net, rapidly spreading outwards.
As for summoning animals, of course, he couldn't only have one that could fly. If he could find a suitable one that swam in the sea, he could naturally tame it as well. And the ocean was vast, with many large creatures. The probability of nurturing an animal that could naturally use chakra or had some special abilities was greater. So, every time Genichi came out, he would use his senses to try his luck.
There was also that Summoning Island from his memory. He didn't know if anyone was conducting summoning animal experiments there now. If he could find it by chance, that would be nice too.
"Huh, there's a chakra fluctuation." Genichi suddenly raised his eyebrow. The fluctuation was coming from behind him.
Is someone fighting?
As he thought this, his perception immediately changed. The originally flat sensory net rapidly proliferated, forming a three-dimensional network, and the precision of his senses increased at a dizzying pace. Of course, the chakra consumption also increased rapidly.
"Hmm? There's a familiar chakra... is that Shinnosuke?"
Genichi wasn't entirely sure. This wasn't a problem with his Heavenly Water, Boundless (Tensui Mukai) technique, but because he wasn't originally a sensory ninja, he only had a vague sense of Sarutobi Shinnosuke's chakra.
Genichi turned around and peered into the distance, but he could only see black dots. He then let out a whistle. Torao, who was in the middle of its meal, immediately abandoned its food and, with a flap of its wings, came to his side.
Genichi took out a soldier pill and fed a handful to Torao, then got on its back. "Torao, let's go there!"
Torao cried out once, then immediately flapped its wings and beat a path through the sky.
Soon, Genichi could see the situation clearly. One ship was fleeing in the front, and two ships were chasing from behind. He also saw a school of large sea creatures chasing in the water. And on the surface of the sea, a group of people were chasing and fighting.
That was it. The ship in front was from Konoha, and the ones behind were Mist ninja.
"Watch out above!"
On the ship behind, a Mist ninja had noticed Genichi in the air.
Genichi took out the forehead protector he hadn't used in a long time and put it on. He then leaped from Torao's back, heading straight for the battlefield on the sea below.
As he plunged down from the air, Genichi formed a series of hand seals.
Art of Pyo to increase speed and heal.
Art of Kai to enhance the casting and breaking of genjutsu.
Art of Zai to enhance the control of all abilities, be it ninjutsu, taijutsu, or genjutsu.
The speed boost that the Art of Pyo could now give him had reached one-half of his base speed. If his initial speed was 1, then after the boost it was 1.5.
The main manifestation of the Art of Kai was in genjutsu. It could increase the precision of his genjutsu casting and his resistance to genjutsu, or in other words, allow him to quickly break them. And for Genichi to form the seals in advance was equivalent to preparing to break a genjutsu in advance. Unless it was a powerful genjutsu user, illusions would have no effect on him. He didn't even need to use his Sharingan to reflect them.
As for the Art of Zai, it enhanced his control over all abilities, but because the improvement was different for different techniques, Genichi didn't have precise data.
Of course, maintaining the power of these three "Arts" required a continuous consumption of chakra. Before, Genichi certainly wouldn't have dared to activate them all. But now, this bit of consumption was a piece of cake!
And as Genichi plunged down, a water dragon also shot up from the sea, its giant mouth open, wanting to swallow him whole.
Water Release: Water Dragon Bullet Technique (Suiton: Suiryūdan no Jutsu)!
Looking at the charging water dragon, Genichi clenched his fist and then punched down.
Monstrous Strength (Kairiki)!
Boom!
The small fist directly blasted the giant water dragon apart, scattering it into a huge torrent of water that fell downwards.
"What?!"
On the surface of the sea, the Mist ninja who had cast the ninjutsu was shocked. He quickly shouted, "Watch out, this guy is strong!"
He was just about to form a seal when the airborne Genichi retracted his fist, clapped his hands together with a slap, and then opened his mouth and spat. A dense fog instantly howled out and rapidly spread, in the blink of an eye enveloping the entire battlefield.
During the last overdraft of the future, it might have seemed that Genichi hadn't made much progress in Water Release, and he hadn't even added many new ninjutsu to his arsenal. After all, with a three-tomoe Sharingan, copying ninjutsu was simply too easy. But in reality, now, with the prerequisite of using the Art of Zai, he basically only needed to clap his hands to cast a water jutsu, at most adding the Art of Zen. So, it wasn't that his Water Release had not progressed.
And the moment the Hidden Mist Technique (Kirigakure no Jutsu) appeared, the Mist ninja below exclaimed in shock, "Not good, this guy actually knows this jutsu! Damn it!"
On the ship behind, a Mist ninja who had stayed behind saw the rapidly spreading mist, quickly formed a seal, then opened his mouth and spat. A great wind rose up, blowing at the spreading mist. Unfortunately, it did not make the mist dissipate.
"Not good, this person's Hidden Mist Technique is very strong. A normal Wind Release (Fūton) jutsu can't blow it away at all."
