"His prey's blood attracted them," The other knight muttered.
The other knight shook his head. "Let's go. Let's not waste our time here, he'll give up soon enough once the rest of them show up."
Almost on cue, the underbrush shivered again. Low growls and the sound of snapping twigs filled the air as more goblins emerged twice as many as before, their crooked weapons gleaming dully in the light. They surrounded Clint completely now, their snarls overlapping into a grating chorus.
The first knight glanced back at the scene one last time. "Yeah… no way he's getting out without help."
Clint's eyes narrowed as he caught sight of the two knights walking away without so much as lifting a finger. "Wow… didn't even bother helping me," he muttered under his breath.
A guttural snarl snapped his focus back.
One of the goblins lunged from his left. Clint sidestepped sharply, blade flashing upward in a clean arc that split the creature from shoulder to hip.
