Chapter 181 - Chapter 181: Clash Breaks Out

A violent gust ripped through the courtyard, flipping both Majin Buu and the entire table of food.

Buu pushed himself up from the ground. White steam hissed out from every pore in his body and his eyes went round.

"I'm mad now!"

The two of them faced each other in midair, neither backing down. The atmosphere turned razor sharp.

Everyone unconsciously held their breath.

"This is troublesome," Whis sighed. He turned to Vados. "Sister, could you share some of the food in your staff with me? I might never see cuisine like this again."

"Sorry, all of this was prepared for Lord Champa. It doesn't belong to me." Vados blinked innocently, smiling.

"Hiding behind Lord Champa as an excuse is far too devious," Whis frowned, clearly upset. "We finally discovered an interesting planet and it is about to get destroyed."

"That might not happen," Vados said with a light smile.

"What do you mean? Someone can actually stop Lord Beerus when he is angry?" Whis was stunned.

Vados did not answer. Her eyes slid to the side.

Whis followed her gaze and saw a pair of burning eyes.

"Oh? So Mr. Levos is a Saiyan…" Whis muttered. "Many years ago Lord Beerus received a mistaken prophecy. It was also about a Saiyan. Could it be related to him…"

Feeling Whis's gaze, Levos showed him a friendly smile and nodded slightly.

He even invited Whis over. "This stall is frying shrimp tails. Want to try some?"

Whis's eyes lit up. "In that case I will not refuse."

Levos actually did have a way to smooth this over.

If he chose to, he could offer Beerus more food and the whole fight would be over.

Even with Trunks's problem, he could have chosen to obey Beerus, destroy the time machine and swear to never touch time again.

Because in his hand, there was still the Time Ring.

But that was not the choice he made.

Levos had to win dignity for Earth.

He could not let the survival of the planet depend on the mercy of a God of Destruction.

In the original story, without the Battle of Gods event, Beerus would never have sat down and talked to Goku and the others like equals.

If Levos did nothing, Beerus would always be the one looking down from above.

Even if this would offend Beerus and make things harder to control, he had no reason to back down.

He had not properly tested what level his current power was at.

Just his normal, perfect Cell Max form was already terrifying enough to one-shot Super Saiyan Rose Broly.

And in terms of fighting skill, once he switched to his mechanical form he could adapt and grow stronger during battle at incredible speed.

If Beerus had not been patched again and again by the plot, Levos honestly felt he might be able to beat the Beerus from the Battle of Gods arc.

He also was not too worried about Majin Buu's safety.

Ever since Buu absorbed the fused little Cells, his base power was at least ten times stronger than Ultimate Cell Max.

Even if he was not Beerus's match, he would not be killed that easily.

What did need watching were two things. First, the shockwaves from their fight could hurt bystanders. Second, Beerus might get moody and blow up the planet.

So the battlefield could not be on the surface.

"Hold on," Levos said calmly.

Buu looked at him in confusion. "Levos, don't stop me. I am really mad. I am going to beat him up."

Beerus's eyes were cold. "I am a very tolerant god. However."

"There is one thing I cannot stand. That is people showing me no respect."

"So I have to give your planet a lesson it will remember for the rest of its life."

As he said that, his eyes landed on Levos. "If you want to beg for mercy, it is too late."

"No. I was not trying to stop the fight." Levos rubbed his chin, speaking casually. "What I am saying is that you two should not fight here."

Beerus froze, then grinned. It was not a nice grin.

"As a God of Destruction I fight wherever I want. Who do you think you are to tell me where I can start?"

Levos stayed calm. "But these food stalls are still cooking. If they get destroyed I will not mind. After all, if the whole universe is erased Earth will not survive either."

"But it will be a shame if in the last bit of time we have, no one can eat what is being made."

Champa was delighted and started gloating. "Beerus, you have not even tasted the Earth food from your own universe. I won too much this time."

Beerus stiffened.

The next second he flew up into the sky on his own.

Buu immediately followed him up.

Levos finally relaxed a little.

Whis stared at Levos with growing curiosity. "Mr. Levos is not worried Lord Beerus will kill your friends?"

Levos immediately pulled a troubled face. "I am worried, Lord Whis. But I believe Lord Beerus is a god with a sense of measure. He would not kill people without sufficient reason."

Whis squinted his eyes. "That part you got wrong. Whether it is killing people or destroying planets, Lord Beerus does not need a reason. That is his path of destruction."

Levos clicked his tongue.

That was indeed how Beerus had taught Vegeta about Ultra Ego later.

He had told Vegeta that what the Saiyans did in the past had nothing to do with him. He did not need to carry an entire race's sins.

Later in the Granolah arc, Vegeta finally let go of the guilt he held as a Saiyan and redefined his pride.

In other words, the path of destruction was just war without guilt, dressed up in a divine way.

Levos did not like it.

He still remembered how, back then, when King Cold's truth about Planet Vegeta's destruction came out, Goku only said calmly, "So they were destroyed."

That was the reason Levos liked Goku as a Saiyan.

"Guests, your fried shrimp tails are ready."

Levos came back to himself. "Thank you."

"You are welcome." The chef placed several plates in front of them. The shrimp tails were golden and crispy, served with sauce.

Levos picked one up with his chopsticks and took a light bite. Juice burst out.

A rich, fresh flavor exploded in his mouth. It was so good he almost groaned.

"Delicious," Whis said with full enjoyment.

Vados's eyes bent into crescents.

But the moment Levos swallowed that first bite it was like a switch was flipped inside him. A burning hunger surged up from his stomach like he had not eaten in days.

He immediately bowed his head and started shoveling food in big mouthfuls.

Hungry. So hungry.

"Um. Please bring a few more plates."

He felt like he could eat ten cows. He had no energy left to care about the battle in the sky.

All he could think about was eating.

At the same time his strength was vanishing at an astonishing speed.

In three to five seconds Levos had already finished his plate.

Whis could not help teasing him. "Mr. Levos, that is a terrible way to enjoy food."

The others, who had been staring up at the fighting in the sky, were now distracted by Levos's desperate eating.

Bulma asked worriedly, "Levos, what is wrong with you?"

"I do not know. I am extremely hungry right now. I need to replenish energy." Levos made a bitter face and his eyes drifted to the plates of the people around him.

"Could it be…" Bulma thought of a possibility. "Is it related to your Saiyan constitution?"

"Maybe." Levos spoke weakly. He felt Bulma's guess was reasonable.

Just then Piccolo's brow creased. "This is bad. Majin Buu is about to lose."

Levos felt like crying.

Why did it have to be now?

He had not even gotten to watch properly, had not gotten to test Beerus's real level, and Buu was already losing?

And as far as he knew, a Saiyan could not fight at full power while hungry.

What was he supposed to do now?
