Sous sat in the chair, the snow still falling outside. A light hum from the fire place over near the back wall made it a bit peaceful. The infirmary was decked out in many red and green items and decorations like majority of the school. She wished she could enjoy it instead of slowly coming to ear the chains of the krampus. Disappointed in the school for doing absolutely nothing when Sous was sure they were informed of the situation by Alana. Unless the school was okay with sacrificing Jacob; after all, they sacrificed the nurse . Sous just hoped Tany would come through and for the headmaster to listen to the witch.
Sous looked over Jacob. He was awake, not being able to sleep because of death looming over him. His eyes were still read but he was no longer crying. Sous had to shake her head to not think certain thoughts about Jacob. Like him being an Alpha yet so...so weak. She didn't care for it before but as she was getting notice, it was clear to her now. He was a poor Alpha but he was still her friend and worth saving. A small smile came over her face and she leaned down and patted his hand. She confirmed with him that they would get through the night.
With the steps of krampus coming closer to the room where Jacob and Sous laid, a voodoo doll ran the halls with its head bobbing up and down. When it came to the cafeteria and to the kitchen, it came across a brown rat. The voodoo doll looked at the rat. The rat looked at the doll...
The house Faye lived in was on the other side of the school in the high tower next to the astronomy and astrology classes. The voodoo doll jumped up the spiral staircases a step at a time. Once it got to the top, it ran down to hall to Faye's room. It then jumped high up to open the door.
Her roommates slept in the darkness. The only light came from the orange and red glow coming from the furnace. The voodoo slowly walked from bed to bed searching for Faye until it came across a girl wearing a bonnet on her hair for bed time.
The voodoo doll jumped on the bed and pulled a needle from its arm. It struck down onto Faye aiming for her heart.
Faye awoke nonchalantly and stopped the needle from piercing her. She smiled at the doll and winked at it. "I forgive you. Let's have you cross to the other side, shall we."
Faye ran down the hall after helping the doll cross to the other side, she knew Krampus was on its way if not already there. She pulled her needles and thread from her hands and threw the needles to the ceiling. She threaded along the ceiling so as to not be seen by the hall monitors.
Once she got to the spiral staircase, she ran toward the main hall looking out the windows and saw Alana coming from the small courtyard. It would seem she was aware too and if she wasn't making the rounds that evening then it probably wasn't her shift night.
Tany ran down the main staircase, doing her best to avoid the monitors making their rounds. She was pulled up to the ceiling by the thread of Faye.
"What are you doing?" Faye asked.
"Sous wanted me to lead you and Alana to the headmaster."
"Krampus is here?" She asked the witch.
Tany nodded her head. They came down from the ceiling, missing the hall monitors and going in the direction of Fanu's office. They met up with Alana eventually with the three of them heading toward the library where Faye intended to use the secret passageway that went directly to his office. When they got to the dead end, there stood three priestesses.
The three girls stopped and looked at them with Thibodeux stepping forward from the clique. She smirked at the three girls in front of her.
"Call off krampus, Thibodeux," Alana ordered.
"Like I'm going to take orders from a hall monitor," she rolled her eyes and scratched at a spot on her head. She clapped her hands, her needles coming forth. "How about we go to the casinos and play a game?"
The three girls exchanged looks with one another. The goal was alert the headmaster and then make their way to Sous to offer her assistance. But Thibodeux had other ideas. She slammed one of her needles onto the ground. The walls broke down around them, new walls coming up that resembles a black jack table. The girls were small and on the table while they had an audience looking down on them which was Thibodeux and voodoo dolls.
"This doesn't feel like voodoo," Alana mumbled.
"Its hoodoo." Faye confirmed.
Tany twisted her eyebrows. "There are no communities in Nadia that practice hoodoo."
"Many Cadjins have ancestors that practiced it and taught it to the next generation. Or...she learned it on her own."
Tany and Alana turned from Faye and looked up to see button eyes staring down at them with their sewed on smiles and tummies stuffed with cotton. Then there was Thibodeux who had a pair of dice in her hand. She shook her hand and blew into it. The diced rolled onto the table. The three girls quickly moved out the way.
The dice landed on a total number of six. Six voodoo dolls appeared on the table, the size of the girls.
"Cut the neck of the dolls and the spirits will be released, but get them weak so I can cross them over."
Tick-tock, tick-tock. Sous stood up from her chair. She knew the girls were intercepted by Thibodeux. She smelt her scent at the same time she smelt and heard her friends.
Jacob pulled the covers up. He shivered. "Is it coming?"
Before Sous could answer, krampus opened the door and walked in.
"That's nice of you," Sous sarcastically said. "That you're opening the door Iike a gentleman." She pulled her wand out of her pocket, her claws extracting. "Let's get right to it." She took the tip of her wand and stabbed it onto the first seal she recieved. Not wanting to risk getting something she had no idea how to work, she decided to not touch the newest seal.
The bright orange and red light blared out, blinding Jacob in the processed. He used the sheets to cover his eyes and pulled them down when the light faded. Standing in front of him was Sous with red and orange particles floating around her, these blades extruding from her arms. They were her arms!
Jacob took a breath, not sure what he was witnessing. He didn't have time to process it because Sous soared at krampus. The krampus' claws collided with the blades of Sous. She slide around and slashed at his back, but he too was swift and blocked her attacked. He pushed her back with his force. She back flipped over the bed, and pulled Jacob onto the ground with her as she flipped the mattress up. Just in time for krampus to stab the mattress to try and get to Jacob. He stabbed and stabbed with Sous moving Jacob and herself to avoid his attack.
Sous kicked the mattress and it flew toward the beast. The beast slashed the mattress in half. The halves slamming against the wall behind him.
Sous gestured for Jacob to hide under another bed and he did so. Sous' claws on her feet extracted and she ran on the walls and proceeded to jump at Krampus. He jumped back as Sous slammed onto the ground, breaking into the wooden floor boards with such force, they broke apart into little chips.
They clashed with one another with krampus grabbed Sous by the hair and throwing her out the door. Sous landed on the wall of the hallway and ran down it with krampus running after her.
Sous managed to dodge another attack by krampus who punched a hole in the wall. The force threw Sous off her balance that she flew back. She stabbed her blades into the wall to get herself to slow down. She tried to pull the blades out but they were stuck.
She looked up and saw the krampus slit her throat. Sous was able to lean her back just enough to miss the full assault that could have caused an instant death.
Sous ducked down and slashed the krampus' right leg. The leg was severed and disconnected from the joint. Sous twisted her body, allowing her blades to spin like a saw. She slashed the krampus' head, cutting it off.
She landed on her feet, not even breathing hard, not tired but ready to fight even longer.
The head on the ground and the leg dispersed into particles and then the neck and joint area of the leg dispersed the same particles. Krampus was back together again. Of course, he couldn't be killed. All she was doing was wasting time, holding time for her friends to get to the headmaster or at least stop Thibodeux from summoning the beast. Did Thibodeux hate Sous that much? They barely knew each other.
Sous stood up straight, her profile facing the beast as it walked to her. She got into her fighting pose.
Sniff, sniff!
"The rat!"
Sous looked around the hall and at the very end, there it was. The assailant that assaulted little baby basilisk. It mocked Sous, eating a slice of something. Just sitting there getting fat.
"YOU'RE GONNA GET IT!" She yelled at the rat but it was krampus that attacked her. Both her and krampus slashed one another at the same time. Both slightly moving out of the way at the same, each of them spilling just a little bit of blood just below the shoulder blade.
Sous flipped over krampus and stabbed his back knees. The blades digging into the bone. Krampus got one leg free from the blade and turned around, stepping on a couple of blades, breaking them. Like that- just broke them.
Sous jumped back, looking at her blades, waiting to see if they regenerated or...something, but they didn't.
"Uh...that sucks."
