Chapter 82 - The Omegas Arc: Five

"Grrrr, I'm a dinosaur, grrr!" Sous claimed stomping through out the tavern room she shared with Shadow.

"Sous, you're thirteen years old. Act your age." He said.

Sous flipped her wild blonde hair and smacked her lips. "Like, grrr, like, I'm a dinosaur, like, grrr." Shadow's eyebrow twitched when Sous walked over to him. He was sitting in the desk's chair belonging to the room cleaning his gun. It was a recent purchase, a Ottoman Empire 1888 Commission Rifle. Such funny names for many of his weapons, funny humans. Sous smirked at the weapon and looked on the desk to see the latest issue of Guns, Guns, andMoreGuns. "Are you supposed to be having these guns in the tarvern?"

"Ssshuu!" Shadow hushed Sous as he hugged his new weapon and kissed it gently on the barrel.

He must have slipped them in when they were bundled up with all the clothes they had on yesterday. It would be the same today since they were going to the campus of Faelock so Kara could be given a tour.

Monica knocked on the door, asking if the two were decent. She opened the door and smiled at the two. It was time for them to depart.

They stood on the deck of the tavern. Sous wore her strawberry bubble coat with a beanie on her head that had a little puff ball. The adults and Kara wore similar outfits including scarves around their necks.

"Hold hands, everyone," Monica ordered. "We're teleporting."

"But I was hoping we could walk the tree bridges to the campus and sight see," Sous complained, her ears dropping.

Shadow took her hand. "We're teleporting and you'll like it!"

Within a flash of Monica's wand, there they stood upon the wood deck of the campus of Faelock. It was a campus that was broken up into many houses and chambers throughout the area. Bridges connected the departments to make it easier for many of the flightless students to get to one place or another. Since it was summer, the only ones on campus were the faculty and staff.

They pushed opened the wide doors and was greeted by a statue of a young fairy. There was plaque mentioning the statue was the founder.

The four walked further within the entrance and was able to see the admissions office to the left of them. A male fairy departed from the office. He wore black pants and a black sweater. His wings tight on his back. His skin had a blackish hue to it.

"Ooooo!" He squealed, his thin fingers collided with each other as he looked at Sous. "Your little particles are so beautiful." When no one responded to him, he continued on. "Fairy particles are hard to see by non fairies. But she has light blue particles that hover around her. Are you the one who's attending Faelock?" Sous shook her head, bringing disappointment to the man. He turned to Kara. "A wolf. Why, we don't have any wolf students. Did you really apply to us?" Kara nodded her head.

"There are wolf communities about." Monica said.

"Yeah, but they stick to their own education. Rarely do they choose to come to Faelock. Hmm," he thought. "We have a wolf on staff though. An Omega. She came to us a couple of years ago with a four year old son. There was a war that took place in Conaska, a civil war between the wolves and humans. The wolves had been planning it for a while it was said. Either way, the humans practically wiped them off the face of the Earth. Such technology they have. Some wolves managed to escape though and she's one of them."

When the fairy spoke Atin, he didn't have much of an accent so he must have been studying the language for quite some time.

"Is she a teacher?" Shadow asked.

"Nope, a cook. When we show you to the cafeteria, I can introduce her." He looked back at Kara. "I'm sorry we don't have any wolf students but maybe she can make you feel a little like you're not alone." Kara responded with a small smile, showing that she was grateful for the hospitality. "By the way, my name is Douglas and I'll be showing you around."

The school was split up into five sections through the campus. The front portion was the front entrance of the school which included admissions and enrollment, headmaster's office, cafeteria, auditorium, and the library. The right portion of the campus consisted of dormitories belonging to the students of first to fourth year. The left portion of the campus consisted of classrooms, and then the back portion of the campus consisted of teachers' offices and their sleeping quarters. Some professors lived on campus while others did not but unlike Hacate, all students were mandated to live on campus during their years at Faelock.

Douglas confirmed that Kara was in fact expected to learn how to speak, read, and write in the language of Arey which was the language of Faelock. A designated class would be given just for her as a result of her not being from the country.

The four of them were then shown to the athletic hall. It was in the middle of campus and had its own very big tree. Within the athletic hall was a swimming pool, a gym, a running and flying track.

It was told to Kara that most of the students at Faelock were fairies or elves with very few exceptions. Douglas thought this was mostly because of the weather. Many of the vampires and witches were from warmer countries and climates. This weather could take getting used to.

The dorms were spacious and were two to a dorm unlike Hacate which had it be five or six to a room. They were warm and toasty, with the smell of fire lingering throughout. There was also a common area designated by year. First years were in one tree, second in another, and so on and so forth.

Aticus was in the kitchen making bread for the staff who resided on campus even when the students were out when she heard foot steps. Her ears twitched and she saw Douglas enter with a family of four, it appeared to her. It was an odd family though since only two were wolves, the other two were clearly mixed.

"Good morning, Aticus," Douglas spoke in Atin which had Aticus raised an eyebrow. He placed his hand on Kara's shoulder and brought her forward. "This is Kara Apex from Red Woods." Aticus' eyes got wide when she heard the pack name. "She'll be attending her first year here at Faelock. I was hoping you could kind of make her feel at ease when the year starts. She'll be the only wolf here. Well, she has witch in her as well."

"Witch? But I heard Apex was notorious for not allowing interspecie relationships." Aticus said. She wiped her hands on her apron and looked at the four of them. Now that she got a good look at them, they seemed like misfits. Probably running away from something.

Monica stepped forward. "We're still working things out regards to that."

Aticus nodded her head, not saying another word since she was well aware how wolf politics could be.

"Aticus here, makes the best pies and breads you ever had a taste for. She even lives right here on campus too!" Douglas chimed.

It was true. When Aticus came to Faelock, she had no where to go. It was just by chance she saw they were hiring a cook for the school. For the past two years, she'd been working at the school. They provided room and boarding for her and her son, and even allowed the six year old to attend a different magae school that also had very little wolves. That was what Aticus preferred. She hadn't much desire to interact with wolves. She was just so tired of their war mongering ways, and their power hungry Alphas.

"Omegas are to fight even in wars and you didn't?" Monica inquired, the air becoming a bit tense due to the direct question.

"My late Alpha believed me when I told her we didn't stand a chance against the humans. She made a plan to allow me to flee with our son." Aticus answered.

"She died?" Monica asked. Aticus nodded her head.

"Its funny, you're from Red Woods. She wanted me to seek refuge there."

Monica shook her head. "If you had come, you would have been forced to mate with one of our single Alphas."

"I know," Aticus whispered. "I chose not to."

Sous looked up at Monica. She had no idea about that policy. To think an Omega who traveled long and wide who sought help and refuge would be forced to give their body so soon to another Alpha...by force. Sous shook her head, not even wanting to think of such a violating act. By the disgusted look on Monica's face, she felt the same, even shame. To take away the consent and the autonomy of an Omega was...was...Sous didn't have a word for it.

"I'm glad that you're here and doing well," Kara added. The adults looked at her, the way she broke up through the darkness by bringing light by stating just a few words, showed her innocence. Aticus smiled at Sous.

"I'm glad that you decided to come here," she said to Kara.

Douglas led them back to the front entrance. A bit giddy after their interaction with Aticus.

"Did you know Aticus can speak three languages?" He proceeded to count them off. "Den Den, Arey, and Atin. She's very talented." He said smiling. He was quite smitten by the Omega. They stopped in front of the admissions office. He knelt down to Kara's level, something adults still had to do with Kara whereas with Sous, she stood at the shoulder to many adults' height. At a time when Kara and Sous use to meet eye to eye, Kara now stood at Sous' elbows. "Its cold here but I think you're going to fit right in."

Sous placed her arm around her friend's shoulder. She held up her fist. "Damn right, she is!"
