Chapter 154 - The Hunters Arc: Seven

The Hunters went from Red Woods to over the border back to Nadia to visit Shadow, who was sitting on his porch drinking a beer.

When the Hunters came to him, he shrugged his shoulders and they moved onto the next stop when following her magae.

They came to Grim within Conaska where they stumbled upon Makala who also shrugged when she saw them. The Hunters continued on the magae trail to the Royal kingdom where the princess and her wife shook their heads to the Hunters wanting to know of Sous' whereabouts.

The Hunters moved onto Faelock where they went to the council, directly to Artreus. The fairy was truthful with them, telling them his granddaughter had left and where she went, he wasn't sure. And the Hunters were off.

They went back down from Faelock, to Nadia, to Canas, and then they flew over the sea to the Island of Dimona.

Sous saw the beings coming toward the shore. She and Alana stood up, still holding hands. Alana noticed that there were hundreds of Hunters heading toward them. She shook her head, they must have realized just how powerful Sous was.

The Hunters landed on the shore and Sous took a sigh, walking toward them with her head held down. One of them hovered up to her and opened its robe. Dozens of brown hands and arms reached out to grab Sous. She began to be sucked into the robe.

Sous turned to look back at Alana while her body was being sucked into the creature. "Bye, Alana."

With the mist blowing Alana's long hair and the scent of the ocean water wavering, Alana smiled sadly at the Alpha and responded, "Bye, Sous."

Sous noticed quickly that she wasn't alone in the robe. That there were others. They looked at her, some of them angry, others sorrowful.

She found herself a place to sit in the darkness, barely able to see beyond the small opening that was in the robe of the creature.

"You seem a bit young to be here," said the prisoner.

Sous shrugged her shoulders and leaned back on the 'wall'. She brought her knees to her chest and kept her head low. She wasn't interested in small talk with the inhabitants of the robe.

Time felt fast and slow at the same time. It felt like she was on land and it felt like she was flying. What she knew was sure was that she got to say goodbye and sorry to all that matter except for Zan. And Kara...to hear Kara say those words to her, it hurt her.

Sous saw an arm enter into the robe and pulled her and the others out. She was in an area that was built with high pointed castle like structures. The sky was dusty with smog and smoked coming from the chimneys.

She was dragged into a line with others in her same perdictament. She was ushered into line and was pushed to begin walking. They walked inside the building and was led to chambers and cells.

Sous was pushed into a chamber with other females and told to strip. She took her clothes off which were snatched from her. She was then sprayed down with water and given new clothes, black and white stripes for the shirt and pants.

The Hunters waved their robes, creating a gust of wind that dried the prisoners instantly. They were yelled at, told to put their uniforms on and then pushed into stalls that were cramp and filled with too many bodies. Sous felt herself about to suffocate until the stall was slammed down to a bottom floor and the inmates were let out.

They were pushed into an open area that had nothing but rocks, greenery, and hay. Dragons flew about them and Sous noticed the eggs that were sitting on some nest.

There were small caves that had numbers on them, this was where the prisoners stayed.

Sous was pulled by her uniform and pushed toward one of the caves. The push was so rough that she tripped over a rock and fell. A Hunter picked her up by the shirt and dragged her to the cave she would be staying in.

"I don't get a trial," she asked.

The Hunter said nothing, floating back to other inmates.

"Your hearing is in two weeks and your trial is six months after that. Then you'll be sentenced," said her new roommate.

Sous just looked at the man, a vampire he was. He went back to tending to his feet.

There was a town meeting in which Doureena and the elites were apart of. Ever since that day Monica and Kara showed off their magic skills, the town of Red Woods have been in an uproar. The wolves felt betrayed by Monica who never disclosed she was part witch. It was true, even to Doureena, she never mentioned it until Kara was discovered by Zhiliary those years ago.

"So what is the rules then? Are we allowed to mate out or are we not? If the Alpha has one then shouldn't the whole pack be able to?" Asked one wolf.

Doureena understood his question and had she known Monica was part witch all those times ago, she wouldn't have ever appoarched the woman.

She stood up from her seat and spoke to the crowd. The meeting was taking place in the sparring arena as a result of the large turn out. She waved her hand up to get them to be quiet.

"I know this may seem strange and confusing but trust me when I say I had no idea my wife was part witch," Doureena said, stepping to the crowd. "She never used her magic around me, around us." She paced about, turning this way and that way to face her audience. "I have three children with her though-"

"She needs to step down!" Yelled a female Alpha.

Monica and Kara sat in the living room. They weren't allowed to attend the towns meeting and Derrick didn't either. He had been stuck in his room for days, refusing to come out until he knew how to appoarch his sire about the death of Jacob. He was scared. Was it true what Kara had said to him?

"I don't think they're going to want us here, mom," Kara said confidently to her mother. "They're gonna want you to step down, I know it. What are we going to do?"

"If push comes to shove," Monica started. "I have a friend in Nadia who will be able to help us." She stared at her daughter though, hoping it wouldn't come to that.
