Elena smiled bitterly on hearing Adrian's words. Vanessa had really ruined her in her past life. But this time, it won't happen.
She said, "I'm just going to spend less time with her though. I don't want her to spread nasty rumors about me."
Even if Elena did spend more time with Vanessa, it wouldn't stop Vanessa from spreading rumors about her. Elena knew that Vanessa would always have new ways of harming her.
Adrian nodded. The solution Elena was thinking of was a good one.

In the Monroe residence.
Broken glass scattered on the floor as Bella directed her rage towards the things in the room. She threw whatever stuff came in her hand, making the room a complete mess.
The maid was frightened to her wits as she tried to appease Bella's anger, "Miss Bella, please calm down."
"Calm down? How can I calm down when that bitch made a fool out of me?" Bella roared which made the maid flinch in fear.
Bella had never suffered such a plight and this made her very angry. She picked up a vase and threw it in the direction of the maid. The maid was so scared that she barely dodged the vase. She didn't care about appeasing the young lady's anger and ran out to save herself.
The maid ran straight to her master's room and knocked on the door. The man inside the room had a woman under him and both of them were on the peak of the pleasure when a knock disturbed their rhythm.
The man pulled himself out of the woman in displeasure and donned a robe around his body before opening the door. "What's the matter?" the man asked angrily.
The maid stared at the fuming man in front of her. Despite his age of 52, he looked like he had stopped aging at his early 30s. The maid took a peek at her master's bed and saw a naked woman staring at them. The maid sighed inwardly. Everyone knew that the master of the Monroe family was a Casanova and a different woman found herself on his bed every week. Every woman he brought for playing had the ambition of becoming the madam of the Monroe family, but every one of them was discarded by the master after having enough of them.
As the maid was lost in her thoughts, the master of the Monroe family asked her again, "What's the matter?"
The maid came back to her senses and replied hurriedly, "Master, the young miss is throwing a tantrum again."
The master of the Monroe family creased his forehead in irritation, "You knocked on my door just because of this damn reason?"
Saying this, he slammed the door and left the maid in shock. The maid couldn't believe that the master she served didn't even have a slightest bit of care for his daughter.

Elena had no idea about anything happening in the Monroe family. She was preparing everything for her father's birthday party as she wanted everything to be perfect.
Soon, the day came. It was officially Elena's first appearance in public. Before this, every time they held a party, Elena would be cooped up in her room as she would be extremely nervous to meet anyone. By staying with Vanessa, she had become her shadow. She felt that it was enough for her to have Vanessa and Evan by her side and didn't feel the need to associate herself with anybody else. Over the time, this attitude of hers made her an introverted person who disliked being in public.
In her past life, she hadn't wanted to appear in public either but Vanessa had convinced her to do so. She had said that her father would feel good if Elena appeared and socialized with people on his birthday. Elena felt that Vanessa was right. She couldn't hide behind her parents forever. However, Elena at that time didn't know that Vanessa had done everything just to embarrass her and make her unable to show her face in public.
When she thought about it now, it seemed like Vanessa and Evan had planned this as it was her father's birthday, mostly all the shareholders would be present at the party and if Elena was embarrassed in front of them, she would never be able to gain their support. They would never support her to become the head of the Ashford Group. On the other hand, Evan would impress them and move most of the shareholders to his side.
When Elena was lost in her own thoughts, she heard a knock on the door. Elena came back to her senses and opened the door.
