For a few seconds, Stephen just sat there, staring at his phone. His chest tightened with unease. Whatever had happened must be serious — serious enough to make the old man lose his temper.
He stood up at once, grabbed his coat, and hurried toward the door. As he got into his car, dozens of thoughts raced through his head. Had something gone wrong with one of his business deals? Was it something about his wife? Or could it somehow be connected to Eva? Did the Harrington family find what had happened with Eva and Ben Geller?
The drive to the Harrington mansion felt much longer than usual. When he finally reached the large iron gates of the Harrington estate, a strange chill ran down his back.
Stephen parked the car and walked up the stone path leading to the front door. By the time he reached the main room, his heart was beating fast.
