Chapter 5 - 5

Midas was a confident and charming young man, a fact many noticed from kindergarten through middle school. He was known as the prince for his looks and the 'justice' he brought to the bully, a story that had spread throughout the school. It was a tale of courage and cunning, of how Midas outsmarted the bully and turned the tables on him.

Charming.

"Midas, are you going to Meiyo Daigaku Fuzoku Koukou?" Tsukimi-chan looked at Midas as they walked, her eyes on him. A hopeful light gleamed in her eyes, and even Love-chan remained silent, side-glancing at Midas.

"I am. Are you two going as well?" Midas replied, meeting their gazes.

The place around them was crowded, so they had to maneuver a bit, but Midas's imposing height and lean muscular build made others move away.

"We are! Hopefully, we get the same class!" Love-chan responded happily, hooking her arm with his.

Tsukimi-chan's eyes widened, and she did the same with his other hand.

'Bless I am.'

They chatted along the way. Tsukimi-chan and Love-chan were happy, pressing themselves close to Midas, enveloped in his scent of roasted coconut and sea salt.

Midas did have a scent, but it wasn't a conscious choice. Instead, it was a strange ability he'd had since childhood, one he'd never fully understood. His body chemistry adapted to the preferences of those around him, emitting a pleasing aroma.

Finally, they got to their destination.

The karaoke room was big, alright.

The smell of cheap liquor and stale sweat made Midas's nose twitch. He kept his expression neutral, even as he drowned himself in his beer to ward off the stench. The room was simple: a brown wooden table in the middle, flanked by couches big enough for six people on each side. The red carpet, stained in ways Midas found hard to ignore, only deepened his longing for scotch. He kept drinking the beer, desperate to escape the pervasive stench.

Image: a fat Otaku, obsessed with Love-chan, still sweating despite the fresh air conditioning. The air was fresh, which made sense considering there were no windows. The room felt so enclosed that Midas had even turned on the overhead fan, yet it barely helped.

Not only he but the other guys were sweating, fervent fans of Love-chan. Yet, Midas's eyes gleamed in one direction: a certain guy in a hoodie. Not in that way; Midas didn't swing like that.

'That string is connected with Love-chan.'

The string, a mysterious, invisible connection only Midas could see, was tied to Love-chan. It was still red but slowly turning black—a worrying sign. This string, a manifestation of the emotional bonds between people, was a unique ability only Midas possessed. Its blackening indicated negative emotions, a cause for concern.

Midas smiled as Tsukimi-chan sat beside him. 'Timid, yet adorable,' he thought, 'a lovely girl, Tsukimi-chan, innocent yet curious, sitting beside me.'

"So, Tsukimi-chan, how have you been? We haven't been in contact for weeks," Midas said, calmly and soothingly, his words flowing with effortless charm.

"I've been well." Tsukimi-chan clasped her hands together as she scooted closer. "Been working on studying and... working on tennis."

"Tennis?" Midas raised an eyebrow. "Didn't know you were interested in sports."

"I am. I've been working on my swings and serving." Tsukimi-chan shyly looked at him, fiddling with her skirt.

Then.

Then, in a moment that seemed to stretch into eternity, the string turned black, filling Midas with a sense of impending danger. As it blackened, a predatory instinct awakened in him. His eyes, once calm, now held a calculating gaze, which affected Tsukimi-chan; she blushed, her breathing becoming uneven, with a hint of arousal.

With smooth deliberation, his hand shot out to grab Love-chan, who was startled. He pulled her close. He also grabbed the red cup.

He smelled it.

Drugs.

His eyes fixed on the man in the hoodie. The man's whole body tensed as Midas's eyes glowed slightly.

"W-what?!" The man stood up abruptly, taking out a switchblade, and Tsukimi-chan and Love-chan's eyes widened.

"What? You know what you did, drugs. Give them." Midas stood up and let Love-chan sit beside Tsukimi-chan.

The man began to panic.

"H-how! How did you know?" The man began to scoot to the exit, but Midas moved faster, grabbing the man from behind and slamming him onto the table, breaking the table.

"Give it now." Deep and cold, the room temperature dropped. Unknown to the others, the black liquid began to leak out from the crack of the room.

But it quickly retracted.

Something moved on Midas's shirt. It quickly slid from his arm into the man's hoodie, which was oblivious.

"H-here!" The man quickly gave the drugs, Midas let go, and the man ran.

Ran

Outside, the man ran far into an alleyway but froze as his eyes widened. His eyes, white as foam, began to come out from the man, and he convulsed. Then his soul left his body and went where the karaoke was.

{gonna add Moby Dick 18+, Silent War, and A Wonderful New World. Also, we will begin with his childhood past. Gonna add some vanilla types. Sure, he's Sin, but Vanilla is good. Vanilla is love!}
