c55 – A Promise! The End of One Battle, the Start of Another
At that moment, Zeno-sama casually said,
"Just kidding."
"Huhh!!" The twin Gods of Destruction, Beerus and Champa, simultaneously exhaled in total relief, collapsing slightly with the weight of their panic.
That was too close!
"And..." Zeno spoke again, his childlike voice as innocent as ever.
"Yes!!" the two Gods of Destruction barked out immediately, standing stiffly. Their earlier godly pride was long gone replaced by obedience and fear in front of the supreme authority of the multiverse.
Zeno smiled with satisfaction. "I watched the tournament between your two universes. It was fun."
"We are deeply honored, Lord Zeno-sama!" Beerus and Champa both replied in perfect unison.
"Because of that, I want to see more next time," Zeno added. "A tournament... with all the strongest fighters in every universe!!" His voice carried both excitement and finality.
"Really?!" came a loud, eager shout.
All the gods snapped their attention toward the voice, startled by the sudden enthusiasm.
Son Goku was the one walking forward, eyes gleaming with excitement. "Did you say a tournament with all the universes' strongest?! That sounds awesome!! Let's do it!"
The gods' eyes went wide. Beerus and Champa's pupils shrank. Their instincts screamed, "No! He doesn't know what he's doing!" But it was too late to stop him.
Vwumm!
In an instant, the two Grand Minister-level guards standing beside Zeno materialized directly in front of Goku, arms raised. Their stoic faces didn't move, but the pressure in the air spiked dangerously.
One more step, and they'd erase Goku without hesitation.
"Eh?" Goku paused, confused. "Huh? I just wanna talk to him for a bit why not?"
The guards didn't answer. They just shook their heads slowly, signaling no.
"C'mon, just a few words! Please?" Goku asked again with a grin.
The guards didn't budge. One more plea and it looked like they'd act.
"You idiot!! Get back!!" Beerus roared. "That's Zeno-sama, the ruler of everything! A mortal like you can't just walk up and talk to him!"
But then, to everyone's shock...
"It's fine!" Zeno spoke.
"WHAT?!!" Beerus, Champa, and all the Supreme Kais gasped together.
Zeno walked up to Goku with small steps, then looked up with wide, innocent eyes. "You fought really well."
Goku chuckled, rubbing the back of his head. "Thanks! It was super fun!"
"Let's have another tournament soon," Zeno said. "One with all the universes. It'll be more exciting!"
Goku's face lit up. "Really?! Sounds amazing! Let's do it for sure!"
He grinned and held out his hand toward Zeno, offering a handshake.
Beerus and Champa felt like their souls were leaving their bodies. Their minds raced with pure dread.
Was Goku really going to touch the King of Everything?!
Even Beerus nearly fainted. This idiot was going to get all of Universe 7 erased.
Zeno stared at Goku's outstretched hand for a moment... then, surprisingly, raised his own tiny palm and shook it.
"Haha!!" Goku laughed with joy and even gently lifted Zeno off the ground during the handshake.
"Aahhhh!!!" Beerus and Champa screamed internally again, feeling like they were watching the end of their own existence.
"You're too casual!!" Beerus shouted, sweat pouring down his forehead. "You can't just treat the Omni-King like a buddy!!"
"It doesn't matter."
Surprisingly, Zeno-sama didn't take offense. Instead, he looked curiously at Goku.
"You're interesting."
"Haha! You're interesting too!" Goku replied brightly, with his usual carefree grin.
"Alright then. I'll go now." Zeno nodded lightly.
"Ah! See you next time!" Goku waved his hand.
"Mhm."
"Thank you for coming, Lord Zeno-sama!" said Whis and the others in unison.
"Mhm." Zeno nodded again, his expression unreadable.
With that, Zeno walked calmly between his two towering guards, and the trio vanished in a flash of radiant energy, disappearing into the far reaches of the cosmos.
As soon as Zeno left, the suffocating divine pressure lifted from the arena. Both Beerus and Champa released audible sighs of relief as if they'd been narrowly spared annihilation.
Suddenly, Beerus grabbed Goku by the collar, face twisted in panic and fury.
"You fool! Do you realize what you did?! How dare you be so casual with Lord Zeno!"
Goku blinked. "What? It's not a big deal."
"Not a big—?! If Lord Zeno had gotten annoyed, he could've erased not just us but the entire Universe 7! Instantly!" Champa exploded beside him, clearly still shaken.
But Goku scratched his head and shrugged. "I dunno. He didn't seem like that kind of guy to me."
"Tch..." Champa ground his teeth in frustration. "You reckless idiot..."
"Hey..." Cabba approached Vegeta. "Has Mr. Goku always been like this?"
Vegeta grunted, folding his arms. "Hmph. That clown's always like this. He needs a good punch."
"..." Everyone nearby remained awkwardly silent, silently agreeing.
Meanwhile, Luya gazed at the spot where Zeno had disappeared.
He remained quiet, but deep down he was shaken. Just moments ago, he had tried using the system scan to analyze Zeno's power level but the system returned nothing.
Nothing.
That could only mean one thing: Zeno's power transcended the system's capacity to measure. An entity beyond comprehension.
Terrifying.
Beerus grumbled, still fuming. "Tch... even after winning, it doesn't feel satisfying."
"Right!" Champa latched onto the complaint. "This was just a warm-up. The real tournament's the one Zeno-sama mentioned! So technically, this match doesn't count. Losing here means nothing!"
Trying to save face.
But Beerus sneered and shot back, "Hmph! A loss is a loss, Champa. And don't forget your end of the deal. The Super Dragon Balls!"
Champa scowled, then crossed his arms in irritation. "Tch! Don't get cocky. I'm a god of my word! You'll get them but there's still one left. You'll have to find it yourself!"
Beerus narrowed his eyes. "Fine by me."
Champa growled but didn't argue further.
Then he turned and barked, "Let's go!"
He glanced at Hit, Cabba, and the others.
"You all too! Don't forget we'll be competing in Zeno-sama's next tournament. Anyone who skips it risks their entire universe!"
Cabba and the rest visibly tensed. They had barely escaped being destroyed moments ago. At least now, they weren't being executed.
Cabba turned back and approached Vegeta one last time.
"Master! Please come visit Planet Sadala sometime!"
Vegeta blinked. "...When did I become your master?"
"Still, thank you.Master!" Cabba bowed, completely unfazed by Vegeta's tone.
Elsewhere...
"Hey, Hit!" Goku called out as he approached the assassin.
"Let's fight again sometime, yeah?"
Hit gave him a quick glance, then turned his gaze to Luya, standing nearby.
He closed his eyes for a moment and said, "I'm going into deep training. I'm not interested right now."
And with that, he walked away without another word.
"Hahaha! I'll take that as a yes! Until next time!" Goku grinned as he watched the Universe 6 team leave.
